Hi! I just got this hearing aid (Model: Audeo B-90R. And I have to say that is amazing! I just love it. I've literally only been wearing it for about 3 hours and I haven't said -"What?"- -"OH, I'm sorry what did you say?"- -" Can you stand on the left side of me so that I can hear you properly"- Haven't said any of these even once!! Thanks for a really good review! It was very informative! All the best! Best regards from Sweden, David
I have just purchased a Phonak Audeo Paradise R90-R with the charger and as you remove the hearing aides from the charger they are switched ON as default. Mine is the portable charger.. The hearing aide and charger were purchased in France.
Could you update this video showing size and recharging options. I am currently in a trial of Opticon mini and the lack of accuracy of knowing when to replace the 315 batteries is a challenge. An example when wearing last evening I received and audible warning the batteries were at 50% charge and this morning they were dead. I hate the thought of replacing batteries every 3-4 days just to be sure my hearing aids continue working. BTW, keep the videos coming!
My fitting appointment is at the end of the month, and I'm told this unit is what is initally suggested. So, my first timer question is...what is "a full trial period"? Personally, I don't really care about rechargeable (I'm in the woods pretty often), so... your personal suggestion(s) for another comparable unit? My loss of hearing was due to my military occupation / reasons. TIA!
I got these aids even though my insurance only wanted to pay for one aid. My audiologist convinced them it wouldn't be effective so I finally got the pair. About 2 months later the right one stopped working. It charges and the lights come on but at first it made a lot of static and now no sounds comes out. I tried cleaning them, putting them with dehydration packs incase it got moist. I'm afraid my insurance won't pay for repair since they didn't think I needed a pair anyway. I was happy to be able to finally hear my daughter again but now I'm back to being partially deaf.
Hey there, great review. If you already touched on this subject, it would be great if you can point me in the right direction. Something I haven’t been able to come to terms with are the prices. I’m all about paying for quality and what is needed, but it’s been hard to swallow forking over two to six thousand dollars on heating aids in general (not specifically Phonak). I know I need hearing aids desperately though. So my question is, is the above price range that I mentioned the norm? Is that what I should expect? or are there cheaper solutions that will do the job perfectly fine. I think as soon as I accept it, I will go out and pull the trigger on them. What ever the darn price is.
Hi Kenji. I totally understand where you are coming from. It is commonly thought that when you spend thousands of dollars on hearing aids, that this is for the hearing technology alone. Just to make sure you understand, when you spend $2,000 and especially $6,000 on hearing aids, the cost of the hearing aid is only a fraction of that amount. The majority of the cost covers the professional services you receive with those devices. Spending $6,000 only makes sense if the provider you purchase the devices from utilize best practices. The tricky thing is finding a provider who actually provides you with these services. Unfortunately, there are many providers who will sell you hearing aids and not provide these services to ensure maximum benefit of the devices. Make sure you watch my Real Ear Measures video and Hearing Aid Fitting video to gain a good understanding of what you should expect from a hearing care provider if you go this route. At the end of the day, if price is your largest concern, you can look into either purchasing value based options from a hearing care provider or look into devices purchased online. One caveat I will warn you about by purchasing a hearing aid online is that it is impossible to ensure they are programmed correctly for your prescription. If maximum hearing benefit is what you are looking for, there is not yet a cheap online option that can ensure benefit like being fit appropriately in an audiology clinic. There are companies like Nuheara and their product iqBuds amzn.to/2qYci2L that are kind of a stepping stone to hearing aids. If you haven't made the decision to commit to hearing aids yet, these may be a viable option for you in certain situations.
As nice as rechargeable batteries sound, wouldn't replaceable batteries prolong the aids beyond 24hrs and also avoid having to replace the Lithium-ion around year 3-5? Just curious what the cost difference would be between both options. I'd gladly sacrifice convenience if I can get 3-5 days of battery life as opposed to 24. Especially with streaming now in the picture.
I have a Phonak hearing aids. What do I have to do to connect to my new Sony tv that has Bluetooth. Do I need another device or can I get a signal without an extra device?
Depends on which Phonak hearing aids you have. If you have Marvel or newer, you need a TV connector. Older than Marvel would require a TV Link with ComPilot.
Great video! I do love the Phonak brand and their professional support team! Products are top notch! You brought up all the great pro's and con's about rechargeable hearing aids.
I see you said that the Audeo B R is compatible with a Roger pen, but how? Do I need a Roger reviever attached to my BR to use Roger accessories? If it's rechargeable, how can I attach it? I really wanted the Audeo Marvel rechargeable because of all the Bluetooth features and the built in Roger receiver but my main thing is I need it to be compatible with CROS, which it still isnt, correct? So I just recently got a BR but am struggling to understand what accessories it's compatible with (I'm mostly interested in the Roger clip on mic and/or the select). Thank you so much, I love your videos!!
I got a pair of BR-90 partially because you produce these videos. Thank you! Oh, by the way...that little shiny sticker inside the charging box helps folks with compromised motor skills. Press the device down on it and the 'mirror' helps you see when the light comes on. Whole lot easier to grip the device and push down that get a finger on the oddly placed button.
What about blue-tooth connectivity. It appears that only the Phonak Audeo B-Direct (not Phonak Audeo B-R) can connect with other Bluetoothdevices. It that correct?
The Audeo B-Direct can connect with Bluetooth devices. The Audeo B-R cannot. However, the Audeo M-312 and Audeo M-R devices can both connect and stream from any Bluetooth device.
can you do a video with charts about hearing aid prices with features. Which is more popular and which companies are the most reputable in the hearing aid industry? Thanks Doctor Cliff.
Hi George. Pricing is controlled by the individual clinic you purchase hearing aids from. This can be even more variable when you consider that some clinics bundle the cost of devices with follow-up care, and some unbundle these costs. When you talk about companies, are you talking about the manufacturers or the distributors?
I got my set of Phonak Audeo B-90R a week ago & the right one went dead & will not charge up. The switch seems deader than a doorknob & the light will not blink. I loved them until this happened! I wonder now if I should have got the ones that use the 312 battery.
Press and hold the push button for 10 seconds to re-boot the hearing aid. Then check your charger port to see if there is something stuck inside of it that is blocking it from charging. Also, make sure you have the battery contacts cleaned off.
Sounds like your devices need to be sent to Phonak for repair. Could be a defective device. They will most likely repair it. Consider yourself lucky, this doesn't happen very often which means it will probably never happen again. 😃
Is there a rechargeable Phonak CROS model? I currently have an Audeo V70-13 and a CROS II, Also there seems to be sine difficulty in finding audiologists in the Chicago area who dispense Phonak. Excuses like Phonak has bad tech support or they are not technically up to date or just we don't carry them. I have Phonak hearing aids since 2000 (both ITE and BTE) except for three when my former audiologist stuck me with an Oticon. In all the time I have had Phonak hearing aids, I have never had to get them repaired. On the other hand, I went through four Oticon hearing aid replacements in three years and three Streamers (something about cat hair getting into the devices).
Hi Douglas. While I can't speak for every audiologist, I've had great success with Phonak technology and their customer service. The answer to your question is yes. The CROS-BR rechargeable transmitter is compatible with the Audeo-BR rechargeable hearing aid. I have a review coming out in a few weeks on the setup.
Try rebooting the hearing aids by pressing down on the push buttons for 10 seconds and then placing them back in the charger. If that doesn't work, take them to your hearing care professional.

Me too lol
Just a heads up - there's a typo in your video title! Just wanted to let you know because it might impact where you end up in search results.
Dr. Cliff, is this device related to the Audicus Wave? I believe the "app" can set the device to turn on when removed from the charger.
How do you install the drying cups in the charging unit?
I have just purchased a Phonak Audeo Paradise R90-R with the charger and as you remove the hearing aides from the charger they are switched ON as default. Mine is the portable charger.. The hearing aide and charger were purchased in France.
How about over night charging?

I have a question. When charging your hearing Aid, if the light goes out and doesn’t show blinking or solid green, is the aid still charging?
Chances are that the hearing aid is malfunctioning.
This video is four years old, wish he would go back edit or link new feature updates.

You need to get the ComPilot 2 and a Roger X receiver. Then the Pen and the mic will work.
@@DrCliffAuD thank you! Do you forsee the Marvel being cros compatible in the future?

What is your opinion of the Phonak Brio 3 sold by Costco?
Old tech. Consider the Kirkland Signature 9.0 instead.

What's the difference between the BR and the Marvel, they kind of look alike
BR is the previous model that has no Bluetooth capability.
Misspelled brand name. Phonak, not Phoank. :-)

Phonak aids typically work as well as a hearing aid can for musicians. However, no hearing aids are perfect for musicians.
Can you get custom earmold this these?
You can get custom earmolds to place on the end of the receiver wires, but you can't make the entire device an ITE.

Itsn't a battery it is a cell.
The Oticon OPN S R mini rite is a better product IMO
Yes it is, and it should be since the Audeo BR is now several years old and the OPN S R is brand new.
How does it compare to the sparky livio 2400
