I totally understand your frustration! In addition to bad wrapping, you also have CUSTOMS, they also open the packages to inspect them. It actually happened to the orders you sent me to the US. They opened it, inspected the parts and wrapped it in bright green customs tape! However i can tell, your package was actually properly wrapped when you sent it to me at 1st!😊
There was a guy that said he soaks his yellowed cars in a mix of vinegar and water in the sunlight for a few hours and it removes the yellow without damaging any of the other colors in the car.
@@MrDarrenp40 you're welcome to try it. If I were you I'd try on something that I don't care much about before I try on my prize possession. You might need to adjust the amount of vinegar to water or the amount of time you let it soak out in the sun.
That’s a very cool car, I’m glad it wasn’t damaged too badly and Pendle was able to come to the rescue. It definitely is a crappy situation… I received a car in the post a few weeks ago, the box was cracked and missing pieces… a “reputable” eBay seller actually packed it damaged as the piece’s weren’t in the packaging… Unacceptable.. I really appreciate these videos, to many people don’t want to tell it as it is and prefer to sugar coat everything .. 👍🏼
I understand how you feel! I made a video a few months ago after I received an HO car delivered slightly crushed in an envelope, in the hopes that people will take note of how to ship slot cars. Unfortunately, more and more of the older slot cars are falling into the hands of people who are buying estate sales and have no idea what a slot car is and how delicate they can be.
Rob I have never had a problem with the bolt left in even when I buy from Germany ship to US. Other than that your spot on as usual! I was sure there was going to be some swear words though! LOL
I had the odd car arrive in just a bubble bag or just in bubble wrap with a plastic post bag wrapped around it but luckly the car were ok. The car in the plastic wrap I'd paid more than I normally would for as it was from a charity shop. Going to the other end of the spectrum I recently received 2 vintage 1/24 scale cars and a body and the seller had packed them all in separate heat sealed bags before using lots of bubble wrap and 2 strong outer boxes. Even the loose windscreen on one of the cars was in it's own sealed bag in with the car.
Hi Rob greetings from down under. I fully agree with your rant. I also spend a lot of time and attention on my packing so much so that I have often been charged extra to post things. I have never had one complaint about broken cars. Honestly how hard is it. I'm with you pack an item as you are sending it to yourself and as you would wish to receive it. I send a lot of stuff overseas so I have some experience. Cheers mate Steve.
I feel your pain Rob I love the Carrera display cases and have bought new cars (mint condition) and because of BS wrapping the cases have been damaged just like your one Good idea about talking to Pendle or in my case the local slot car shop 🍻
I hope you better now you have had your rant and I think you did an exceptional job of not swearing, I know I would have.🤬 I was interested in what you had to say about the bolt - I don't have a local slot car shop so most of my cars have come from eBay or shops like Pendle Slot Racing, Jadlam Racing or Rails of Sheffield and I don't think I have ever received a car with the bolt removed. The aforementioned shops always pack their cars so well I guess damaged chassis is not an issue for them and to be fair some ebay sellers really go to town to the extent that I actually received one car where they had packed so much bubble wrap inside the case the aerials has been crushed and broke off the moment I tried to straighten them
I had lots of smashed chassis and case bases in the 90's while buying my old Fly collection. If the seller wraps the car to the base with clingfilm or packs the case with wrapping, the car does not move and will not damage the car or base.
Rob, I feel your pain. Nothing worse than an eagerly awaited purchase turning up in a squishy box that rattles. Having bought a lot of slot cars over the years, many listed on eBay, I have received cars in a variety of packaging and for a huge variety of post and packaging costs. It’s such a simple thing to get right, you would think at least. My favourite is repurposed cat food boxes that don’t quite fit but can be extended with some creative scissor work and reconstruction using tape to fill in the gaps. The treasured slot car is then protected by various detritus stuffed into the box along with the car and far too many cat hairs. Incredible. Just this morning I opened a sturdy box to find a vintage Scalextric Matra I’d bought with a body part broken by the protective inner contents having been stuffed in around the unwrapped car. It’s such a shame. The car had survived completely intact for decades until it was packaged up badly and sent off to me. I always take it on the chin but it is frustrating. So, good for you for taking the trouble to highlight the issue. It’s so avoidable. Don’t get me started on inaccurate eBay listings or photos that disguise the truth. Most importantly, it’s a lovely car. Popping the number plate back on will be very satisfying. Enjoy, it looks like a beautiful monster. Cheers, AW
Oh that wonderful seller 'get out clause', "Study the pictures as they form part of the description", translated that means, there is something wrong, but we are not going to tell you, so it's tuff luck of YOU don't spot it !!
@ yes, that’s so true. Thank heavens for those unboxing moments, when everything is good. Makes it all worthwhile, sort of. Great you were able to get a new case from Pendle, for the car. Thanks again for the video Rob, these things need to be highlighted and importantly, you are not alone and hopefully it may also make a difference to someone, somewhere. It’s always great to share, good and bad alike. Looking forward to the next happy video! Cheers, AW
Thats seriously annoying Rob .especially after watching the car for a while and pondering about buying it .Selling stuff and finally getting the car . Im wondering was it a slotcar/model shop or just a shop that sells anything ,to them its (just ) a toy car ,and they dont see the passion us slotcar guys have . It really is a beautiful car 😍 and a real pity its scratched and that box was ruined .Great news that Sean found a replacement box mate 🤗👍
It's a slot car only shop 😲 They have about 6 more of this car (not the same paint job) on Ebay, some lucky buyers guna get broken boxes as well I expect?
@SwiftSlots if it's a slot car shop Rob they definitely should have packed it better ,that's unfortunate mate ☹️ I think it's a great idea to actually wrap the car in bubble wrap inside the box 👍
I have had the exact same issue with jadlam toys twice for c7016 single track pieces just sent in a paper envelope both times track has been bent in transit.they have replaced the items. But they will probably get reimbursed by amazon as that's where I purchased from. I even left a note to seller to package items in a proper box with a sticker saying fragile/do not bend but still turned up in a envelope. I have purchased two pieces of track from scalextric direct and has arrived safe and sound in a sturdy dox with no damage. Morel of the storey don't buy track or small parts from jadlam toys
Completely get your point and you swear away. I mainly buy second hand bangers but on the rare occasions I buy a new or rare car, if the seller scimps on the packaging, they are just (censored)! I can't afford for this kind of bollocks! If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing well.

Yep, we can only try 😀
So proud of you for not swearing big brother. I know I would be.
LOL, it was hard for me 😀
Keep charity walking sis, good on ya 🙂
Didnt know you could have a conversation with out swearing until I watched your videos 😂😂
What the F**k are you talking about ????🤣🤣
@SwiftSlots 🤣🤣
Brilliant video, where would we be without Pendle Slot Racing.
In the UK, nowhere !!!!!
There was a guy that said he soaks his yellowed cars in a mix of vinegar and water in the sunlight for a few hours and it removes the yellow without damaging any of the other colors in the car.
"There was a guy that said...." (are you inviting that we try this at home?) 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome tip, thank you 😀

Yes, it really is much worse when it's pack up damaged, you really know you've been shafted then!!
Nice one Pendle and what a stunning car!
Pendle to the rescue 🙂

Very sad.

I also love that car!
She is very nice 😀

Yes, for a few extra inches of bubble wrap, things would have been different.
I feel your pain Rob

Yes, Local shops often give a much better service than random sellers.

I agree Rob, when we spend good money, we want what we bought as it was described. don’t blame you for being upset, it is a cool looking car.
She really is a beautiful car 🥰
Evotec in Spain is the most important nettshop. Best regards Knut 😊
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind 🙂

I use Jadlam as well, so far so good, but it's only a matter of time before one of my jars of paint gets smashed!!
Well deserved rant!
😁
