The cheese plate in the video is a prototype that we made just for Joshua. The final version will be pretty similar but much more refined. And it will have some built in slots for even more cable management! You can add it to a kickstarter pledge now and it will be available on the moment site after the kickstarter finishes. Its specific to the Supercage but you could use it on its own as well with minimal effort
Very nice, you have to sent free product to influencers I paid upfront for, and refuse to respond to my emails. Glad I paid for your marketing campaign. I pre-ordered the new iPhone 16 case and variable ND filter, and they have decided not to ship my order or respond to emails
Interesting. How much does the whole combo weighs including the iPhone? Just to get an idea what you must handle. It’s an excellent idea to make the main frame into NATOrail. I would attach my SmallRig rotating handle I already have on one side and the ball handle on the other side. However I’m not sure about built in stuff in general, sorry about that. Having a cheese plate is also great. It will be an interesting balancing act for people who have already quite some peripheral accessoires, attaching anything to this cage. I mean really balancing the whole set-up in such a way that the weight is evenly distributed and adapted to personal preferences. It takes a 1TB card. New 2TB card by Sandisk also possible? When will it be available in Europe? In the Netherlands? [One small request though: Please cut out in the future this trendy rapid-fire editing with the sped up sequence of images, when it is not used as a means of time compression. Using sped up images is fine when condensing the building of a house that takes many months.] Many thanks in advance for any answers to my questions.
Don't be sorry. Just think of it as a slightly more expensive regular cage that has all the backup ports you need The cage (no cheeseplate) with an iPhone 16 Pro (in a case) is 750gm / 1.65lbs.
I'm curious, why did you design the cable connecting to the phone to run out the top, around, and down into an external port? I would have thought you would just have a short little cable coming out the inside of the cage to connect to the phone? I'd also ask, how reliably does the iPhone play nicely with the SD reader? When connecting SSDs to my iPhone I find it is really finicky. Sometimes it works great, then 5min later the iPhone has no clue an SSD is even attached. That has been my biggest challenge with iPhone recording. When everything works properly, its a dream, but when it doesn't all you can do is reboot the phone over and over praying it will play nice.
The cable in the video is a prototype. It went up because that was the only way to make the bends. Making a cable that can go down and be short is incredibly difficult. We have one though and it's what will ship with the supercage. It's actually a really awesome cable and we'll sell them separately later on. We have had really good luck with SSDs but you have to go high end like the Samsung t7. SD is pretty finicky and it requires a v90 with at least 220mb/s write speed. That is not common yet. But it is possible
@@ericriley6511 Ah makes sense, but why even have a cable? Why not have it in the cage structure internally and just be sticking out from the cage itself right where th usb port would be? Sort of like a backbone controller? That would be one less cable to manage. Side note, if an exterior cable is necessary would a ribbon style cable work with an elbow at either end? Thats what I currently use with the smallrig cage and find it nicer to manage than a standard cable. yeah, def know speeds can be an issue. I have ones that are fast enough. My main challenge is iphones frequently don’t even recognize the thing. Until I reboot the phone like 5 times. Once it detects it, the thing works great until I need to connect a new drive and them same issue all over again. ;) I am sure this is an Apple bug, but it drives nuts. My mac never fails to detect the drive.
@@ryancooper3629 The further you get into your reply the more it shows why we use a dedicated cable. you can try using whatever cable you want but the one that we guarantee works is the one it will come with. We haven't had any random detection issues. The backbone controllers are neat but they are not nearly as universal.
The cage design is nice but more complex than I need for video work. Are you clamping the iPhone over the new Camera Control button in the 16Pro/Max? I know it can be switched off but its position is a concern if it’s going to be under constant clamp pressure in this or other similar cages.
There are two versions, the Supercage with the hub and the Basecage without the hub. They are otherwise pretty similar in features. The clamp does not cover the capture button unless you want it to. We designed around this limitation.
Depends on the battery and the mounting clamp - the smaller the better! We've been using a Gen3 Nitecore 10,000mah which was great when front mounted, and an Inui 22.5W 10,000 mAh on the top or side, as it's tiny and doesn't obstruct your view as much. Tilta has great lightweight clamps, as does Smallrig. Our filmmakers were using V-Mounts attached underneath because they are young and have no respect for using their battery as a kickstand. I wouldn't bother with V-Mounts unless you are rigging it out with other accessories that need that power draw. If you want to use V-Mount I'd add a plate and rails so you can slide it into a balance that feels good.
Yes, the supercage and basecage are both one piece. They are a huge upgrade in terms of features and durability from the original cage. The other feedback we got from the original cage was that people wanted a clamp instead of magsafe, so we made that change as well.
On production cages it will be HDMI Type A (full size) to whatever your monitor uses. You'll need to use a cable with a compact head like a Kondor Blue cable. Also many of the cables that come with monitors have compact ends already. A cable intended for TVs will probably not fit.
Hey! How long is the cable that was used to connect the phone to the cage? I'm trying to get a good size without having to wrap up the extra cable lengths
The phone cable in this video is 280mm long. The cable that will actually ship with the cage will be a bit shorter and much much more flexible. The supercage will come with the cable to hook it up. You can also add on extra cables in the kickstarter. Additionally we will be selling the cables separately after the kickstarter because they are cool cables and super useful.
Joshua + Sunny 16 + Moment = Huge Win!

SuperCage and IPhone…what a combo! 🔥
So good to see my boy, Joshua back on the channel.
Solid Rig & Demo, Thank you
you're gonna need a battery! Great to see you on here!
Nice rig. The Wooden Camera Ultra Handle 4" Kit for RED KOMODO, KOMODO-X & V-RAPTOR is super expensive-$430.00 at BNH. Wow.
Clean. What was the cheese plate you used? Seems like a good fit

My dawg is back!! 🔥
we LOVE you joshua! missed him so much, i really loved the video as well but it was just amazing seeing him ahhhh
He's the best!! 😎
Moment products are very appealing. I wish some more affordable stuff are available, that's would be fantastic
Love it! Can’t wait to get mine and start creating. 🙌
We can't wait to see what you make!
Great video, well done, thank you for sharing.
Nice video, thanks 👍🏼🤝🏼
great!!
Amazing cage, I’m buying one!
Rig master Joshua! 😎
No doubt the best part about the cage is it doesn’t use usb a. That port needs to die.

Cool rig! Definitely going to need a battery, though! 🙃
This is really nice!
What a slay! I wish I could do that to my Samsung.
The supercage works with android phones. Your samsung is probably a great candidate for this.
@@ericriley6511 that's great, thanks. haha
Miss you bro !

@@falseconomy oh nice. they reached out to me to do a review. Should I?
it looks like this cage is one solid piece? I've had issues with the screws coming loose from using the original causing the 'handles' to wiggle

Very hard to take this product seriously with no variable ND or consider for getting the shutter down to a usable value
That's part of the phone case. I suggest you explore our phone Accessories
wtf did i saw now... Damnn
