What more can you ask for when you go to a gig, true, honest feelings. Ya it's sad, but it's also brilliant because it's so raw and in your face. One more reason I like Pete, he never hides how he really feels. I love Carl as well because he sort always keeps it together. That's why they fit so well, until of course it all spilled over.
You said everything I feel about this video. so raw and painful to watch, and yet. Peter comes back to apologize poor Carlos left to keep playing through. Their songs are really honest reflections of their lives. Compelling to see such emotional honesty
it's one of the saddest things i've ever seen... Those emotions, this love & fury at the same time. "can't stand me now". It's all about how drugs can ruin your life and your friendship. But now, there's Time For Heroes once again! Reading & Leeds'10! Up the Albion!
"It was an awquard song to sing. One time Pete thought I looked at him funny during that song. And he put down his guitar .. Through* down his guitar, kicked the amp over and took off down the street." _ Carl "It had taken six seven years for him to say it but then he said it, "cant stand you now" We've used each other, got here, but beneeth it all you're not my mate." _ Pete
I've just researched this video after reading Pete's book: Last of the Rock Romantics. Apparently he carved a cross into his chest backstage and reappeared dripping with blood?
yeah, was there, last show of the tour at brixton ... he was gone for about 3 songs and then returned with his chest slashed up (it was a little scary) ... weird thing was he seemed fine after, was dropping cans of beer from the dresing room window
0:19 look at carl, he looks at pete-i saw an interview with carl that said that pete thort he looked at him funny so he ran off stage...its becuz 4 them it mustve been so difficult to play 2gether. Very sad times =[
Sad to see for sure. Did Peter throw something at Carl when he came back out? I see somethign fly by... Glad those two are coming around. Two strong front men that made GREAT music together. I think they were miserable w/eachother for a while but twice as miserable without eachother. Growing up and realizing what they created together. Hope we get lots more of them in the years to come!
Also detailed in the book "Pete Doherty - Last of the Rock Romantics" by Alex Hannaford, which I recommend. It cuts thru the tabloid lies and is endorsed (via forward) by mum JackieD. NOT SPAM--GREAT READ!!
you can see the look he gives pete. Not to mention the whole theme of CSMN and many other libs tunes that represent the thin ice that the bands and their relationships were on.
the boys talked about this on an interview...apparently pete thought carl looked at him funny (i suppose it is quite a tense song) and ran off down the high street!
"ah these are the good old days" get such fucking massive chills when he sings that at the end. there's so much feel in his voice.

0:50 - that is the cutest run ever

I just hope that guy found some towels
you can see that pete was so upset... i think he must've just realised what the lyrics were saying and the inevitable...

poor carl (but i also love peter john and gary)
i love the way he said you cant stand me now to carl before he left
Ever the professional that Pete. Putting his hurt feelings before the enjoyment of the 5000 people that had paid to see the Libertines. Kudos
I love The Libertines.
POOR CARL Barat!!!!!!
pete was obviously paranoid from his notorious drug taking, therefore he imagined Carl was looking at him funny...poor carl
he actually runs like napaleon dynamite its amazing
Yeah!! never seen anything that honest on stage before :(

It's not Peter's book, it is a biography by Alex Hannaford

That is insane

I completely agree, carl is nothing without pete. Together they are amazing!

All their best songs are written by both of them.
hahah pete wat a legend lol
reminds me of a modern day Kurt Cobain in some ways
At least he apologized lol.
you can see the look he gives pete. Not to mention the whole theme of CSMN and many other libs tunes that represent the thin ice that the bands and their relationships were on.
i was there...first time i saw libs/pete...
There is never an excuse for vandalism :O|
google translation: "Pete dull fuck here, poor Charles, he so cool and professional"
apparently it was because carl looked at him in a funny way.
Yeah he said that on seven ages of rock
Thats true rock n' roll :-0
the boys talked about this on an interview...apparently pete thought carl looked at him funny (i suppose it is quite a tense song) and ran off down the high street!
i just laughed out loud at that last comment.
haha well it was at brixton academy
thanks :)
hahahha priceless xD
the person is now saying that if they had wanted their post translated into English, they would have done it themselves
carl looks annoyed
nothing. He said "I was a bit distraught, you know what I mean."
If the band were bigger before they'd be forgiven.
He is out of it!
I wonder who filmed this? Or if they captured the entire show? There's another video of the gig on RUclips but it cuts off towards the end
lmao is this the one carl was on about? "said i looked at him funny and run out down the high street" haha
well carl rocks..:P
@gNer0in Hi - Wow... you aren't kidding! I just watched it. That all says so much of what ended up ultimately happening doesn't it?... sad indeed.
lmao exactly what i thought
What does Carl say at the end of Can't stand me now?
no he said "i had a bit of a strop", a british word meaning tantrum
интересно, а тут все русские комментарии будут переводить? :D
ehhe, poor carl
What is the song Carl is singing when Pete comes back?
I know it's a 16 year old comment but in case anyone else was wondering it's The Good Old Days
I did not understand what you said. Could you explain again please? :(
wats da second song?
Can someone explain? Was he doing this as to copy the who but it went wrong?
@bevyk777 another sad thing... /watch?v=huJs-xS8wg4 4:30 Kurt Cobain... it's creepy and sad...
were they? i only ever hear about pete doing drugs, + i heard that they kicked him out of the band because of it?!
Go pete we like you taking drugs because its cool!
Haha ;D
Ah, Carl really did well without him...
pete smashed his guitar like a fucking girl
..If pete gave up the drugs, the libs could have continued for longer, he was a bit attention seeking and selfishh! :(
@LC6046 yuck yuck
hahaha wtf!!! i love pete but he kinda runs like a girl.
