This was my era when I was a lad, is it me or did the bands play better back then?

The uniforms, pace, music style, is far better! A bit of a shame really.

I agree, love these old vids. It somehow seems more ‘authentic’! I played in the Ibrox True Blues accordion band out of Lorne St. Govan in the 70’s. I haven’t been able to find any info. on them anywhere online. There was def. a much higher number of accordion bands in Scotland back then, with much fewer flute bands. You don’t see the juniors swinging the banner cords anymore either. The big walk in July was always a massive event & to me as a teenager it was a bigger day than Christmas, especially the excitement & anticipation the night before. I bought a new collarette in 1978 & I still have it...can’t believe it’s over 40 years old now 😱 I still love the Orange Walks now, but have very fond memories of the golden years during the 70’s

It might seem more.authentic as they were getting blown up left right and centre by the p.i.r.a regardless you are right mate it seems more of a party atmosphere know I agree with you

Here's what to do.. get yourself a time machine, dial back to 1985 and get to work. Then stay there.

Arriving at the park was always a chance to have a wee can of Tennents before the return walk back home. For us it was a 12 hours day from start to finish & then a dinner dance at night. All celebrations are better with a wee swally...in moderation of course. I was present when a lodge member was thrown out for being drunk. Hope that clarifies matters re. your comment ‘arrested & interned’ 🇬🇧
