Absolutely outstanding. Even if you know little about the making (and trappings) of a hot tub, this info just makes sense. And ultimately will add up to saved dollars and less headaches and regret. Thanks Bill. Looking forward to your Instinct Spa follow-up.
Just purchased a Bueno Hot Tub that is the "lower end" brand from Wellis that is recommended by HTU. I bought the Jersey style tub with the extended warranty all in for $5,200. The self-supporting shell, composite frame, single speed 3 HP pump, no proprietary parts are some of the reasons for the purchase. It does not have clamps on every jet nor compression fittings BUT I'm under the average cost of a hot tub by $11,000. If I use the tub three times per week for 7 years it averages out at $17 every time I take a dip when you include the cost of heat, chemicals, s $1,500 service call within the 7 years and remove three months yearly since I don't use my tub during the summer. I did have to pay "The Spa Guys" $900 to transport the tub to the back yard and connect it to an existing 220 line. Normally, you get what you pay for, I'll have to see............BTW, Spa Marvel is an excellent product! Also, Bueno Hot Tubs are available through different distributorships, it's best to purchase it directly from Bueno Hot Tubs to get the best customer and service support.
Bueno broke the mold it was the first major player to launch a direct to consumer brand. they targeted the lower end ($4-$7k) and the build was better then anything else in this price point but as you mentioned, a lower end insulation system, no clamps on the plumbing and a cradle supported shell. it was also curb side dropped and not much support and service. it wasn't long till jacuzzi and master started eyeballing this and Instinct is a line from one of these two giants. but they didn't target the lower end they went after the $10-$13k end of the market and the build is a lot higher. also its delivered and installed and dealer supported! Bueno is good in the sub 7 k market and instinct is tops in the $8-$13k market.
I consider Sundance and Jacuzzi a quality hot tub manufacturer but they no longer do the full foam insulation they have like blown in insulation and then have foil wrap to project it back at the shell.
The hot tub industry is an absolute quagmire of low quality trash. The dealers aren't much better. OEM however stands for 'Original Equipment Manufacturer' so when you speak of proprietary jets/valves/components, they are, in fact, OEM. Still, great video and the information is solid.
