  • Australians and New Zealanders have marked Anzac Day, with dawn services and marches across the world. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese making an address in Papua New Guinea, commemorating the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for country.
    Israel has said it is moving ahead with its plan for an all-out assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, despite international calls to hold back. As warplanes continue to pound targets in the north, Hamas has released a video, showing Israeli-American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin, although it’s unclear when it was taken.
    Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked the U.S. for finally approving an aid package worth AU$94 billion, saying Ukraine will do everything possible to make up for lost time. Joe Biden said the funding sends a direct message to Vladimir Putin, as Russian forces appear to be preparing for a new offensive.
