I run windows 8.1 on my main computer, and its honestly become one of my favorite operating systems. Though it does have its fair share of bloatware (Live tiles) it doesn't have nearly as much as 10 and 11 do. All of the programs I use still support it as well.
Yes and I used a PCI-E to PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard adapter and a PCI-E VIA USB 2.0 Card and it worked very well for me without any integrations on my ASRock Z790 PG Sonic Motherboard!!!
A chipset might not detect a GPU if the proper drivers are not installed because drivers are essential for enabling communication between the hardware and the operating system. The GPU, like any piece of hardware, requires specific instructions to be recognized and used effectively. These instructions are provided by the driver software. Without it, the system cannot identify the hardware correctly, leaving the GPU either undetected or only partially functional. For example, imagine installing a new graphics card in a computer. Upon booting, the screen resolution might default to a basic setting, and advanced features like hardware acceleration or 3D rendering will be unavailable. This happens because the operating system is using a generic or fallback display driver that lacks the specific information needed to interact with the GPU fully. Only after installing the correct driver from the GPU manufacturer will the system recognize the card properly, allocate resources, and unlock its full potential. This illustrates why drivers are a critical component of hardware functionality. Without them, even sophisticated devices like GPUs remain inert or operate at minimal capacity, as the system cannot bridge the gap between its software environment and the hardware's capabilities. This very likely corresponds to ur issues
interesante experimento, como extraño. Cuando Windows 8 y 8.1 volaban. Ya se, que termino el soporte, pero lo sigo utilizando en equipos limitados y para usos básicos, que no requieren de la ultima versión de todo, sirve excelente.
8.0 has generic usb3, as it worked perfectly on my 7960x threadripper, with the onboard usb. One time back when I had my 13700k I tried 8.0 and I think the first part of the setup worked with my usb keyboard and mouse, but then usb broke after it rebooted. I think for some strange reason 8.0's generic usb3 has issues on modern Intel controllers but not AMD. I was able to fix the issue by installing it with dvd and ps/2 keyboard, and then installing some ported usb3. For nvme I used the generic Phison NVMe driver.
Probably put the USB 3.0 drivers during or after the installation. Also laptop keyboards and trackpads have an internal connector that potentially support Windows 8, either through an older USB version or PS/2.
