As someone who used an a6300 but now I’ve moved onto more professional gear, I had fun seeing people still use the a6000-series stuff. Using pro mist is a must on this camera imo, and I’d say if you’re getting into cinematography get some good manual focus lenses, 7artisans has a great 25mm and you could also get the Helios as your 50mm, and a Jupiter 9 as your tele, then you’re kinda just left with an ultra wide, which is upto you to decide but these 3 lenses are pretty good and cheap. I’ve graded an endless amount of slog 8-bit Sony footage and while it did teach me a lot, mostly it taught me technical ways to save things. But I won’t lie it kind of fucked with my grading practices that I had to unlearn once I moved on from that level of gear. My final answer to getting the best image out of my a6300 was using Cine4 and being very very decisive about my settings, I messed around with the depth and other settings (try it out, cine 4 with some adjustments on all the other settings can get you really nice and rich starting point) But yeah being decisive in the sense that I wasn’t shooting to capture the most “detail” but I was shooting to get as close to the final result as possible. That approach probably won’t work for run n gun stuff but it does work for film stuff.
if I could spend max 10k-12k on a camera with lens as a starter what would you recommend? moving from phone to proper camera as a hobby, no plans on upgrading for 2+ years after acquiring
Beautiful! What a great visual experience!
