But yeah anyone my age (mid 30s) in Australia has memorised this whole song and will sing it when it (frequently) plays at bars and parties
It meant there was the greatest song in the world and they couldn’t remember it, that’s the whole point of the song. And they also used some of Led Zeppelin’s chords from “Stairway To Heaven” (not enough to sue them!), but it kinda wasn’t a tribute to either Metallica’s “One” or Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven”. It was just a tribute to the greatest song they couldn’t remember, just an unknown song to it, they just pretended to not know.
Jack Black uses existing classic rock bands as inspiration for the different styles a lot. This one kind of reminds me of Kansas. Or Toto. Boston and Blue Oyster Cult too possibly. The slightly softer storytelling side of the 70's or 80's for sure.
and about the best song in the world... i believe its 'stairway to heaven''... because the chords are the same...the structure its similar in the end...and in the hbo series they actually played stairway in the middle of this song.

This and "Wonderboy" are my 2 favorite songs by them. Jack's voice is phenomenal. KG's is also great. They harmonize wonderfully.
