    I had the pleasure of seeing Frankel (the freak) in the 2000 guinees it looked amazing on tv but seeing it live was incredible, and yes I was on £120 won ,thankyou

    What a class act! Pulled hard early, in ground which he hated and he still won against what turned out to be an excellent maiden! Greatest horse I have certainly seen between a mile and a mile 1/4

      Eh? 'Hate' is very strong. He went very well with cut in the ground. His first and last races of his career were on soft, and he had excuses both times for not appearing to be at his best, or for not winning by the length of the track.

    Remember this night so well. Heard good things about Frankel but to think the finish would have been fought out by subsequent King George and Eclipse winner Nathaniel and possibly one of the all time greats Frankel is incredible. And don't forget in second last is subsequent Ascot Gold Cup winner Colour Vision while the third has also won at Listed level and is rated over 100.

    Probably the greatest maiden race of the last 50yrs, Frankel highest rated horse since brigadier Gerard and Nathaniel winner of top races including the king George!!

    Frankel won that despite the ground and seeing how good Nathaniel was with that ground it shows just how much class Frankel had

    What a line up, I know Newmarket maidens are usually the toughest out there but that one was just silly!
    Frankel is a legend. Nathaniel was a great horse too, time heals my wounds on this because I had Nathaniel that night at around 5’s and couldn’t see any way he could lose at Doncaster a few weeks later... he did...and I lost a fair whack!

    the best thing about this maiden is that Ascot Gold Cup winner Colour Vision finished back in 11th!! I suppose a mile may have been a bit on the quick side for him :)

    I'm trying to trace a racehorse who has sadly passed away early this year. I only know of one race he ever ran out of the 31 he ran and it was at Newmarket in August 1999. does anyone know where I might be able to find the video of this race or races that took place then?

    • @BlackMountain150
      @BlackMountain150 9 лет назад

      Also I've checked racing uk but nothing came up.
      His name was Muffin Man and he would have been 3yrs old then.

      ***** Go to www.racingpost.com/
      www.racingpost.com/horses/horse_home.sd?horse_id=506954#topHorseTabs=horse_race_record&bottomHorseTabs=horse_formand just type his name into the search engine, It lists all the races he ran in, As he was running in 1999 their video vault of races doesn't go back that far. Unfortunately as he was only rated 75 you're unlikely to find any races on youtube either, but it does name all of his races so you might be able to do a manual search using the full race name.

    @tobougg
    What the hell are u talking about man! Frankel put pay to everything put in front of him, beat cirrus des aigles at a canter and cda was rated 2nd best horse in the world!
    And this was a really strong maiden wih the likes of colour vision (future gold cup winner) and nathanial(multiple group 1 winner) trailing in his wake, maiden of a lifetime, what was special about Frankel was he was never ground dependant and his ability to kick on and maintain such a high speed was very special.

Made Canford cliffs look like Audley harrison coming into the race it won 5 G1s on the bounce. Sounds overrated to me aswell mate (hater)

    I havent found Frankel's time results for hist last 4 furlong and last 2 furlong etc. I really appreciate if someone explains how the ground(grass) was during all his all races? Im asking because our best horse (SABIRLI - His Sire is Strike The Gold) could manage to cover last 800 meters (4 furlongs = 804m) in 45.04 seconds in his best and mostly in between 45.3 s - 46.50s and he had beaten many GR1 horses in Turkey in international races in between 2005-2007 (Godolphins horses etc). He manages to finish 1600m once in 1.33.70 (8 meter less than a mile to your equivalent 1M races) and many times between 1:34.60 s and 1:36:70. Im not saying he could %100 beat Frankel if they had lived same times and had met (2005-2007 best years) but I bet he would be a very tough opponent to race neck to neck against Frankel. WHY UK RACE RECORDS DON'T SHOW LAST 2 AND 4 FURLONG TIMES? I found times of all reasults of Secretariat and I can say he was very very exceptional champion horse. I cant imagine your Frankel's and our SABIRLI (means patient) finishing 1 1/2 mile in same tempo like secreteriat did. So how the ground softness are measured in UK? In TR for example they say (normal is 3.3, a bit soft 3.4- 3.5 and very soft (sinking) 4.0-4.9). So I cant compare the results because its obviously ground and tempo must be different!. Ok at last I found the last furlong results: www.turftrax.co.uk/The%20Juddmonte%20International%20Stakes.html here. 11.08 - 11.15s - 11.62 s and 12.38s totaly makes 45.23s last 4 furlong! amazing.. So I got my answer :) our best could maybe beat him once in 5 races or maybe 4.. thats it not more!

  • @uguree
    @uguree 4 года назад

    Why they didnt run him gradually increasing the distance like 1 + 1/4 miles then 12f ? could have been better to see him in longer distances like nijinsky

      Frankel has as near perfect conformation for a racehorse as you can get. The "heaviness" is his depth of girth suggests a huge lung capacity. That's why he was brilliant.

      The form book? Frankels form was bullet proof,beat more group 1 winners than Sea the Stars,also,Frankel would have murdered Rip Van Winkel and MasterCraftsman,at 1 mile STS wouldnt have got within 4 lengths of Frankel,neither at 1 1/4 miles,only at 1 1/2 miles would he maybe have stood a chance.
