    Good for you, not justifying yourself on your feeding choices - you shouldn’t have to! I would absolutely recommend going to a breastfeeding class if you can before baby girl comes. I have had a really positive experience so far (first time mum of a nearly two month old) because I felt more prepared! It is hard at the beginning but if you can push through the difficult times it will get so much easier! ❤

    If you’re planning to breastfeed, I would recommend buying a breast pump and some milk storage bottles/bags. However wait until after baby is born, to see if breastfeeding is something you wish to do first, as breast pumps can be expensive! I was able to trial an electric breast pump from the maternity wing after giving birth and then bought a breast pump when we got home, so it’ll be worthwhile seeing if your local health services have a breast pump you can trial. My baby had a tongue tie which made latching difficult, so being able to express milk really helped us with our breast feeding journey, as I exclusively expressed in the beginning and fed via bottle, then once the tongue tie was resolved, we moved to feeding directly from the breast. Although baby is able to successfully breast feed now, I still regularly express milk, as it means dad can feed baby the milk with a bottle if I need a break. Good luck!

  • @samgeorgesunny

    Great video. Just to say to any expectant parents of their first baby watching this, try not to buy too much in advance. My son is 18 months old and has only vomited once in his life and his nappy has never leaked at night. This has meant we haven’t needed any muslin cloths, only 2 cribs sheets etc and just generally a lot less ‘spares’ of everything. Also until we started weaning, he also was able to stay clean for the day so didn’t need lots of changes of clothes. Easily could of had half the amount of stuff we purchased during my pregnancy 🙈

    • @HomeWithShan
      @HomeWithShan  Год назад +2

      Such a good point!! I think we all want to be as prepared as possible, but really until our baby is here and we know their ways, it’s hard to know what you’re actually going to end up using!! 🙈

      as a mum of 2 under 2 I personally had two completely different experiences with each of my babies, my first has still never to this day soiled a bed sheet and yet my youngest goes through around 3 a week. I assumed there was no need to have more than 2 of everything bedding related with my second baby and I was proven wrong from day one! in short, bed sheets are not expensive and it is better to have too much rather than too little

      I have an 8 month old and we have had the complete opposite experience! So much puke and many poo explosions. We still didn't buy that much though and instead just did his washing every 2 days so it never piled up too much and now he's on solids the puke and leaks are less frequent thank goodness!

    when my little one was born he never wore what we call 0000 which is newborn size, we went straight to 000 which is 0-3 months because he was 4.3kg and 55cm. But I found I was fine with 7 vests and 8-10 zippy suits. He was a summer baby so it was easy to get stuff washed and dry before running out of clothes for him!

    The avionaut pixel pro infant car seat is the safest on the market. Bit more than your budget if you want the isofix base too (we don't use it, it's just as safe without) Its so lightweight but provides an excellent fit for tiny babies and my high centile 16 month old still fits in it. It uses the same adaptors as maxi cosi too so will fit on your pram with the same adaptors :) Genuinely wouldn't use anything else x

    It's funny how different things are for different people, we have literally never put the car seat onto the buggy, we found out kind of superfluous. I would get the buggy out of the car and unfold it, pop the basinet on and then take baby out of the car seat and into the basinet. Also my baby LOVED the basinet. Much more so than the restricted car seat. And it gave piece of mind regarding sleep and the risks of that. So for all first time mums: my recommendation would be to get something cheap of marketplace and try it out when baby is here, to see what you like and what baby likes. And then you can always splurge on the expensive travel system when baby a few weeks old and sell the other one!

    Hi, aww I'm 30 weeks pregnant I have 10 kids already and even I feel like I've forgotten what we need... My youngest is nearly 5 so I've not had a gap as such before... This video is making me want to go upstairs through all what I have got so far because I don't feel we've much. I did manage to get a second hand pram off my friend which has saved us loads... I'm with you on lots of vests and babygrows... George at Asda is really good for kids clothes.... I've always had a Moses basket for mine but tempted to get a next to me or a snuzpod... I agree with newborn socks they never stay on do they haha and if baby is in a grow anyway no need for them xx

    Car seats, cybex cloud z is fab, can be heavy as baby gets bigger as the actual car seat has some weight to it due to its functions. Not sure if you can get britax adaptors but they have a new lie flat one too. If you don’t really need one that reclines the Nuna pipa lite js highly recommended x

    My 2nd boy is now 18 months. My recommendations are rascal and friends nappies and wipes (found in tesco). I use a natural nappy cream from queen bee naturals. (Can be used all over the body for excema, dry skin, craddle cap, etc ) Using this combo my wee man has never had a red bum. I bought metanium for emergency and have never used it.
    Also a must have for me is silly billyz bibs. They are so absorbant and wash and wash. My first had severe reflux and my second is such a bribbler. And the bibs are still going strong and washed every week. Hope these help someone. So looking forward to watch your journey with baby number two. ❤

    I know you probably get so much "advice" so always do what you think is best. I breastfeed both my kids but we had struggles in the early days, latching weight gain etc. Can I just suggest you go ahead and buy a small pack of bottles/ formula/ premade formula because its always in the middle of the night when breaking point comes and it's something then you can fall back on for a feed and then after an hours sleep you can be ready to face breastfeeding again.

  • @laurab4868
    @laurab4868 Год назад +2

    Vinted is great for baby clothes, you can get so much new with tags. I also find if you have a summer baby you aren’t going to need long sleeved bodysuits and if you have a winter baby you won’t use short sleeved bodysuits. I wouldn’t pre buy dummies either as not all babies take to them, I brought about 10+ dummies and have never used them 😅
    I’ve breastfed my son for over a year, would 100% recommend having a formula in the cupboard for just incase so it’s just takes the pressure off yourself. Silver nipple shields as other people have mentioned I would also recommend, they saved my nipples! I also brought a cheap breast pump off Amazon it was about £30 but works a dream and I don’t think you need to buy an expensive pump!
    Maternity bras are another but I wouldn’t get the ones that clip I’d get the ones that are like V shaped that you can just quickly pull out your boob.

    Highly recommend the recaro baby car seat. It's a little more expensive but it's such good quality, its extended rear facing for safety and is just so practical, which is definitely a must with having 2! We did have to get an adapter to be able to use it woth our silver cross chassis though but it wasn't expensive at all. Good luck with the search!

    We loved Joie. Got the Joie travel system with the all the way car seat and carrier and travel cot, as well as the baby seat, pram chassis reclingin seat and bassinet. We sold on new in original wrapping what we didn't want and made most of our money back. Now on baby 2 we will reuse and put baby 1 in the all the way car seat and baby 2 in the baby seat, meaning we only have tiny purchases to make this time round.

    We've got a cybex cloud z car seat, honestly, the best purchase.
