Don't want to sound patronising but! Please please please never work on a car without an axle stand underneath it. Only the jack holding, even if you place the tyre underneath the car is not enough especially as your in the workshop on your own. 🙏🙏 Please remember next time. We have all done it BUT accidents Do catch up with you eventually. Thank you, Great video👍
I had this exact car in the same colour. Same wheels although it was a 63 plate. Never had as many problems with a car in my life and I only had it a year.
Wise move,if it’s cold enough to freeze taps/hosepipes & bottled water think what it can do to your hands while wet sanding.im not a petrol head in any shape r form but I do enjoy watching your content.Keep up the Good work(weather permitting of course) 😁👍👍
Hello m8 how’s it going love the videos I think it’s about time you treated your self To a lift it would pay for its self make your life so Much easier 👍
Yep.Got the same water problem here in Northumberland. Been out blasting the pipes with a heat gun. Got the stand pipe working, but will have to wait for the thaw on the rest. Never mind, the Astra won't take long to finish....onwards and upwards..
Get yourself a space heater mate, I'm not sure it'll do much for thawing the water pipes but it will 100% make working in this weather a lot more bearable.
Low oil pressure cause oil leak is mostly from dipstick housing or there is little nozzle underneath the oil filter housing make sure fix them as well while doing seal replacement otherwise there will be again oil leak.
Hi Phil another great video. You need to get a ramp mate would make your life so much easier instead of crawling round on a freezing cold floor would save a lot of time too. Can't wait for next one on the astra and price breakdown thanks.
Agree, if that fell on him it could be a few hours before anyone realised. The wheel underneath *may* prevent serious harm but I suspect he would be trapped underneath. Not good.
Have to say I love this channel but I am always concerned at Phil’s lack of a decent sized trolley jack (3 tonne or similar) and use of axle stands. it’s not that I want to leave a derogatory comment, I really don’t and I understand how hard it is to make quality content but I do have genuine concerns with this.
I did one of those oil seals on an insignia which didn’t have the gearbox holes, I drilled 2 holes in the gearbox instead of taking it off lol, turned out fine but it is a bit of a stupid design.
Ive got a insignia same issue when i bought it, very big job having it done cost me a fortune. I had it drilled to save money *low oil pressure on startup. If its not doing it leave it alone phil
Love red Vauxhall’s but they do tend to look different on the bumpers we have a red astra sport and the rear bumper is a different shade maybe the rest of the cars faded but look forward to seeing you polish this one 👍
Nice one buddy, another good vid. Those cdti vauxhall engines can be a pain with those seals, but you nailed it yet again. Really enjoying your vids, keep going 👍👍
Hey Phil , I did exactly the same as you and painted a wing with no hardener in the mix, I just mixed up some hardener and thinners and sprayed over paint and it worked,,also I’ll swop you for some 0f your cold temps , we had 36.5 C again today , never seems to drop below 30 in daytime here in cairns Australia, I’m from harrogate so I do remember the cold and snow , love the vids, also I have low oil pressure on start up on a Cruze , I think my issue is a broken 1 way valve just below filter element ,
nice vid phil on the astra but seems everywhere is frozen so all in same boat hopefully i will get warmer for everyones sake in the meantime stay safe and warm
Did comment on the early days of the unit, insulating it would pay for itself tenfold. Even in the summer itll keep it cooler in there. Id seriously consider it if its your full time goal.
The Astra's looking good although hopefully you can improve the paint match. Last week was just too cold to do anything, could have been worse you could have been in Texas -20c there apparently!
Hi, Quick question, how many hours did the changeing of the seal on the pickup take as I am getting the same error message when the temp is cold. Thanks
Great vids as always. Who painted the bonnet and bumper did they do it outside? Looks a poor job id have taken them back hope you sorted them out the blemishes could be seen on the video it looks like dust or something is in the clear coat
Am I being thick but is this video quite old because in a previous video of another car the bumper was on the floor and had been painted and i think the bonnet had been painted aswell, cheers
Another common fault the turbo solenoid had 3 on my siggy in 2 years and they were OEM a good engine pulls like a horse but too many in built faults on them the worst being that oil seal that should have been a recall. 1.6cdti are the worst in the Astra K etc timing chain guides breaking up engine out job to replace the chain and Vauxhall say the grinding at start up is a characteristic of the engine when i took mine in and they knew i knew what i was talking about they all clammed up at the dealer it was liked you had walked in with your trousers down the looks and the way they didnt want to speak to me about it. Got it so called fixed and got rid didnt cost me so i was happy but it sure wasnt fixed properly.
Nice videos content, good to watch but too many ads. Reduce a couple moving forward? Just cancelled RUclips premium, didn't realise how many videos you added.
Astra is looking tidy. TBH, Im surprised you've managed to work in the unheated unit. Even wearing 3 layers, a hat it's still uncomfortable and frozen hands dont work well anyway.
Higood to see getting on with the astra.starting to look good. Can i just say, looking at the n/s/f wing it looks darker than the n/s/f door and the edge of the front bumper, its hard to tell off the video. How about attacking the mini next hay Phill.Keep up the good work.
Getting a bit annoyed with your vids, you never show us you doing the work and only do cut in’s with the work you’ve done , and don’t get me started on the time lapse
This. I much prefer actually seeing the work being done. I have an Astra J 2.0 CDTI and i didn't learn anything from his previous vids as all the work is sped through at a million miles an hour. Channel has strong potential but not a fan of that!
That paintwork is awful fella that’s gonna need blowing in and the finish is awful Please use axle stands when climbing under any car never trust a jack on its own!! A neighbour of mine almost killed himself when he was under the car when the jack collapsed
Don't want to sound patronising but!

Thank you, Great video👍
Def need to set a good example
Another one nearly done Phil, good stuff, it might be worth investing in a decent space heater for the unit....👍
I usually put some metal mesh on wen plastic welding bumpers and strengthen holes with fibreglass aswell
I'm amazed you been able to do any work during this cold snap😁
This car is looking great now, the bumper repair is very good, well done!!.
All modern red peel. Happened to my Audi TT MK1 3.2L
Great video Phil good to see it’s nearly finished keep up the good work 👍

Gtc looks really nice all back together, will make a really nice motor for someone, great stuff. 👍
I’m enjoying your videos so much I’ve stared from number 1 the Audi TT
Great job Phil looks good mate
Awesome video! I’m gonna buy one in January so thanks for the tips 💯
Really enjoyed the Astra video Phil looking so much better now
Get yourself a space heater mate, I'm not sure it'll do much for thawing the water pipes but it will 100% make working in this weather a lot more bearable.
Agree with Martin Stewart AXLE STANDS F C S!
-4 , I feel your pain. Not just the frozen water- but numb fingers n toes. Get a heater!
Another great video 👍🏻 Favourite channel.
I agree with the comment get a ramp it’ll make life a lot simpler.
Lovely Jubbly, moving very quickly now, as always another really interesting video Phil.
Top job loving the content thanks for sharing
Low oil pressure cause oil leak is mostly from dipstick housing or there is little nozzle underneath the oil filter housing make sure fix them as well while doing seal replacement otherwise there will be again oil leak.

you can only work with warm weather Phil your channel is still ace
Good content roll on the spring you need to lower them ceilings in the unit and get some heat infra red only heats you
Good to see it get closer to completion. 👍 This weather is a swine though! 😂
Stick an axle stand under that car Phil
Agree, if that fell on him it could be a few hours before anyone realised. The wheel underneath *may* prevent serious harm but I suspect he would be trapped underneath. Not good.

Nice video Phil good content 👌 taken a bit of time this one but looking good now stay safe mate 👍 looking forward to the next one 🍺👍
I did one of those oil seals on an insignia which didn’t have the gearbox holes, I drilled 2 holes in the gearbox instead of taking it off lol, turned out fine but it is a bit of a stupid design.
Great video Phil. Car come out well with the paint job, Should look spot on with the cut and polish.
Getting there, must be a frustrating one. Know what you mean about the weather, its weird that it's going to warm up so much, but glad it is.
Also you can buy plastic welding kits now that might be better thank fibre glass 😁
Loving the channel.
Ive got a insignia same issue when i bought it, very big job having it done cost me a fortune. I had it drilled to save money *low oil pressure on startup. If its not doing it leave it alone phil

Yeah same got a red one also the bonet does look a different shade but a bit a wax made it look a bit better 👍
Nice one buddy, another good vid. Those cdti vauxhall engines can be a pain with those seals, but you nailed it yet again. Really enjoying your vids, keep going 👍👍
accent a bit like Blackpool youtube legend, the 'walk on the wild side' channel
Rossendale area, so not far from blackpool 👍

nice vid phil on the astra but seems everywhere is frozen so all in same boat hopefully i will get warmer for everyones sake in the meantime stay safe and warm
Enjoying the video. Why didn't you fill the wing and paint it while you were doing the bumper and bonnet.
Probably easier to replace wing around £80 for wing just needs spraying
Just pull out dent be fine lol
Did comment on the early days of the unit, insulating it would pay for itself tenfold. Even in the summer itll keep it cooler in there. Id seriously consider it if its your full time goal.
I made that comment at the time also as my timber garage has a steel box profile roof and it constantly suffers from condensation
Great video Phil but where are the axle stands?
Accident waiting to happen.
Been mentioned b4 and a proper floor jack! Like the channel but need to sort out that workshop! Heating.lift.work benches.
Stop all the waffle and do more work lol . Enjoying the vids 👍👍👍
Two words AXLE STANDS,
I did wonder what was going on with the astra Phil ,looking good it's so close ,excellent video ,looking forward to the next one
Nice one.👍👍👍
Your the only channel I watch that will do Vauxhall. Your brave or lucky.
Greysquirrel Good video on the car please get a heater 😃
Great content top bloke 👍
hi phil great videos very honest in your descriptions of work carried out keep it up:]
Frozen up. So what sort of area are you in mate. Up north I guess.
The Astra's looking good although hopefully you can improve the paint match. Last week was just too cold to do anything, could have been worse you could have been in Texas -20c there apparently!
4 post lift please !!!!
Another great video I really look forward 2 watching your videos keep up the great work 👍
Interesting stuff. Does anybody know of any issues with insurance companies when putting a cat n or cat s car back on the road?
Hi, Quick question, how many hours did the changeing of the seal on the pickup take as I am getting the same error message when the temp is cold.
Thanks
Get some axle stands under that car!
👍👏👏
Painting edge to edge will bite you in the ass most times, remember blend is your friend.
👍👍Great Video Phil
👍👍
I like the videos but a bit more how-to content would be good too. I would have liked to see the pick-up pipe seal replacement for example. :-)
Nice one fella! I was wondering :) I drive the J VXR MY2017 in black, fully loaded, so under rated these motors.
Wats the story with that black peugeot 308 mate? Been there forever
I took it in px on the polo gti, was going to use it but sold it and kept the focus st instead 👍
Great vids as always.
Who painted the bonnet and bumper did they do it outside? Looks a poor job id have taken them back hope you sorted them out the blemishes could be seen on the video it looks like dust or something is in the clear coat
Phil, u interested in 2006 Astra vxr needs a turbo. I’m only in bury
Am I being thick but is this video quite old because in a previous video of another car the bumper was on the floor and had been painted and i think the bonnet had been painted aswell, cheers
Why not sort the wing as well?.
Be good to get that car off your hands! 😄
Great job pal enjoying your videos do you work elsewhere? Keep up the good work 👍
Worst car I ever had the Astra GTC and mine was red too. Was glad to see mine go and looks like you might feel the same lol 😆
What problems?
Looks nice
Get a heater Phil, no use working in a Iglo!
Hi Phil, have you had the unit valeted ? It looks like the tidy fairies have been in the night.
Mick
You only show end products on your vids or time lapse are you getting professionals in off camera ? 🙂
Another common fault the turbo solenoid had 3 on my siggy in 2 years and they were OEM a good engine pulls like a horse but too many in built faults on them the worst being that oil seal that should have been a recall. 1.6cdti are the worst in the Astra K etc timing chain guides breaking up engine out job to replace the chain and Vauxhall say the grinding at start up is a characteristic of the engine when i took mine in and they knew i knew what i was talking about they all clammed up at the dealer it was liked you had walked in with your trousers down the looks and the way they didnt want to speak to me about it. for the love of god Phil will you use Axle Stands and knee pads for your poor knees
Nice videos content, good to watch but too many ads. Reduce a couple moving forward? Just cancelled RUclips premium, didn't realise how many videos you added.
Vauxhall red is always a pain.
Astra is looking tidy. TBH, Im surprised you've managed to work in the unheated unit. Even wearing 3 layers, a hat it's still uncomfortable and frozen hands dont work well anyway.
A new car lurking in the background? 🤔
Surely a smart Repair would sort that bumper?
Hay m8 nice video
Higood to see getting on with the astra.starting to look good. Can i just say, looking at the n/s/f wing it looks darker than the n/s/f door and the edge of the front bumper, its hard to tell off the video. How about attacking the mini next hay Phill.Keep up the good work.
When are you gonna get yourself a ramp mate because crawling around on the floor can't be good for you
Hi I have a astra gtc 1.4 turbo. And there is no Bluetooth in the car is there any Bluetooth option for the car???.. thanks.
I have the special edition, mine has navi650 which has Bluetooth. Older models might not come with it standard and was probably a specced extra
No axle stands I would not be doing this with out them that is bad to do this
how much is the astra for sale for? cheers
That paintwork is shit. Look at all the dust and debris in the bumper and bonnet. That's terrible if a body shop done them. Great videos 👍
Is that mini next phil?
When u say “u have to go to work” do u mean u have another FT job and this is just your side gig?
I think he’s mentioned in earlier videos that he was a lift engineer.
I thought salvage was your full time job mate ?! So you do this on the side then ? What’s your full time job ? You do a great job, love the channel 👍🏻
Paint turned out ok in the end but probably best you stay away from viagra and laxatives in the future 😂
What's your job mate
You no what mate you deffo need something on the floor there that's not doing you any good that mate lying on that floor
@@Leethemetalwarrior yeah it’s basically showing what he buys and what he does without explaining or a walk through ,
Sorry messy video lost track
That paintwork is awful fella that’s gonna need blowing in
and the finish is awful
Please use axle stands when climbing under any car never trust a jack on its own!!
A neighbour of mine almost killed himself when he was under the car when the jack collapsed
