Well, another Realistic amp that's tough enough to keep on working. You should try using something with less processing/compression for audio testing. (Try a clean recording of The 1812 Overture...). Good job finding the bad caps.
Yeah I've been meaning to get around to finding something royalty free so I don't have to worry about copyright strikes. I'll find something soon. Thanks for watching!
I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a house party that's for sure. This unit now sits on my repair desk as a general amp for testing audio equipment like tape decks and other stuff. It's okay for that. When it dies (if it does) I'll likely get something more modern as this little thing has quite a footprint. Thanks for watching!
I’ve recapped a few of these for fun with leftover elna selmic caps and they sound fine. Of course I use them with vintage efficient speakers. The one in the living room is hooked up to some rare orb like speakers made by Panasonic in the 1970’s. The other is hooked up to some fairly large white GE speakers that look like they were designed by apple. It sounds great with those too. Most of my equipment is Marantz and Sansui and some is extremely expensive but I enjoy these too.
Yeah, it's a POS but it's such a nice form. Did one on my channel, added speaker clips and used the RCA jacks for preamp out. It is small but good enough for the computer speakers.
Naw it has a nice sound. I prefer it over my topping, and shiit desktop amps. It works for headphones not a lot of power but It has a nice warm sound. It has a sound vintage amps give off but a form factor that I use with my desktop.
@@unicornharry7995 Agreed. I purchased a well-reviewed little class D amp with 20 times the power of this RS mini amp. I was planning on replacing the RS amp with the class D. But I like the sound of this Realistic more. The little class D sounds hard, bright, and brittle in comparison. For a little desktop system (I use the little Paradigm Atom speakers with the SA-150) this is a pleasant little amp to listen too. Mine is staying right here.
What a great little amp. I like Realistic audio equipment, I've got an 8-Track recorder and an FM Tuner, both from the 80's and working fine.
There stuff was build to last IMHO. Another thing I like about their stuff is that the schematic is usually in the manual. 😁
That 1.8 wats clipped your mic.

That amp is junk grossly under powered and poor design. Toss it.
