Saw them in the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on that tour June 2009. Having listened to Ry’s music for 30 years and never saw him live until then. What a joy.
This is really good... i don't think non-musicians can grasp how much this trio is producing...only 3 guys, full sound that usually takes 4 or 5 to produce. What a great band.
When Ry picks up a guitar, there's no question about who's holding it. I could be in a cave under water and that slide would climb all over my soul. Thanks for 40+ years of listening to that chilling sound. Nick writes and sings like a savant, Ry picks and slides like a deity. There is a reason there are no thumbs down on this kind of magic.
Nick Lowe is a great singer and guitar stringer..Ry Cooder is legend at that guitar and both are great entertainers on any stage..terrific rhythem and melody is fantastic..Two legends on stage sending you out major vibes over the airwaves..
Nick lowe,Lowe, Ry Cooder two legends who know they are the best of this sound of music and solo artist at that..rhythm and melody ,with lyrics is fantastic..always on track and entertainment is spetacular..phenomenal
Ry Cooder,a legend in country music and music all over the world..singer and song writer..producer of his own songs and composer..great singer and guitar slider aged..entertainment is ongoing and fantastic
I saw this show in Tokyo. Awesome. This is a different arrangement and lyric than the little village recording. Its Nick Lowe and Ry Cooder, they could read the phone book and it would swing.
Holy cow! Ry's touch, and that sly, greasy timing. Unreal. It really sounds like Joachim must've had more than a few lessons with Jim Keltner. This is a great trio, here.
I love Nick the basher but Ry Cooder's subtle and beautiful picking is really special . I saw Little Village at an afternoon show at the magnificent Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara and there was hardly anyone there , except for my work collueges . John Hiatt said everyone come down front and let's make this a little village . Probably 150 people and they played their asses off . I've seen them all solo or in different incarnation's but that concert will always be special .
Barney Rubble, I have a radio-broadcast bootleg CD of Little Village at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco; its excellent! The studio album sounded kinda flat to me but they sure tore it up on this live show!. No idea how many people were in the audience that night but they were *very* appreciative!
what a great posting------Love it. The guvnor, Ry Cooder with another demo of what true class is in a world of plastic, superficial dross. Keep them toones coming Ryland......I'm lovin it !
Love them. Ry is one of the greatest I have the chance to listen to. Joachim Cooder is such a great drummer too. Every time I hear him I can't stop saying "what a drum sound". The two only others who do that to my ears are Pick Withers and Manu Katché.
What baffles me is that Ry's playing with a regular old capo. He doesn't have his action raised for slide guitar. If anything his action is super-low because it's only as high as the fret in front of the capo. It's really, really hard to get a clean slide out of such low action without the rattle & noise & buzz of the slide hitting the frets. He must have an incredibly light touch. If you watch the other slide greats like Sonny Landreth, they all have crazy high string action, almost like a Dobro neck. I see very very few people play slide on action that low. Derek Trucks plays on a standard nut, but even that's not as low as putting a capo on it. What a fine player.
One thing to think about is Ry is the type the uses bigger flat wound strings compared to Sonny and Derek so his action is going to be different plus Ry has everything modded heavily but your on to the touch and the best have the lightest touch when it comes to slide playing. Slide is one of the hardest styles to master and that is why Duane Allman/Ry Cooder/Derek Trucks/Sonny Landreth and among others are so amazing.
Sonny plays with a capo too. You set your action at the bridge, not the nut. You can only use a higher nut if you don’t play regular fretted chords. Sonny plays mostly slide and frets notes behind it to make his chords and melody’s. Ry’s action is not very low but also not superhigh. You have to have the right touch. I love both players but prefer Ry as an overall artist, singer, songwriter, arranger and performer. He is such an unique person! But Sonny’s playing with John Hiatt is also awesome. Check this one out with the capo at II to play in open B ruclips.net/video/m_CUzuitxSI/видео.html
@pretorious700 No way! Totally disagree here. Ry's new album just BURNS with passion! Listen to his solo here too; sparing and subtle - just some of the best some he's ever played!
They have to pay the bills, interchangable consumer, meaning the douche nozzle who is bitching about ticket prices. I paid $200 to see Tom Waits.... Guess what?? I saw Tom Waits! He didn't rip me off! I'm watching tHIS for free on the web. The value of live music done by the greats isn't in dollars, or euros, or pesos... It's within yourself.

Beautiful vocal by Nick Lowe. Words can't describe how well Ry Cooder plays guitar.✌😇

👍🏻👍🏻🤘✌️
This song is so effortlessly in the pocket and melodic. Great trio tone.
Nick Lowe is a great singer and guitar stringer..Ry Cooder is legend at that guitar and both are great entertainers on any stage..terrific rhythem and melody is fantastic..Two legends on stage sending you out major vibes over the airwaves..
Good tune with a trio of guys that brings it home for my mind😎
Love your songs, musicianship, and voice, Nick.
I love the new lyric added about taking his advice. What a gem!
Nick lowe,Lowe, Ry Cooder two legends who know they are the best of this sound of music and solo artist at that..rhythm and melody ,with lyrics is fantastic..always on track and entertainment is spetacular..phenomenal
I have Just discovered this masterpiece! What a diamond!!!!
Ry Cooder,a legend in country music and music all over the world..singer and song writer..producer of his own songs and composer..great singer and guitar slider aged..entertainment is ongoing and fantastic
Rick Lowe ,a legend and Ry Cooder ,a legend is both phenomenal..on the guitar and singing solo..
Another excellent one. Ry is so skilled and tasteful. I would have loved to hear that gong behind the drummer.
Totally beautiful! These guy`s continue to shine ever so bright.
Wish they would work together more often.
A great song by Nick and great accompaniment by Ry.
Ry's Prodical Son album is extraordinarily beautiful.
Joachim Cooder is such a subbtle drummer, it's so rare, Fred Below's spirit is there !!
I saw this show in Tokyo. Awesome. This is a different arrangement and lyric than the little village recording. Its Nick Lowe and Ry Cooder, they could read the phone book and it would swing.
Love your comment!
Ditto

This is a great trio, here.
Great music love it
Wow!! Big Little Village (Cooder, Lowe, Keltner and all) fan, I'm astonished to find this. Thanks & cheers!

Ry is one of my guitar gods.
What a great band, oh yes......👍
Love these two,!
Ry Cooder is in a class all by himself on slide guitar. Theres Ry , then there is everybody else. Fucking sublime.
Riley Shy I love this comment
Maybe the "spark" went out as you say, but something else shines brighter than ever.
Listen well - it's there!
so glad I have seen this tour in Zurich in June 2009
Et à Paris la même année...
That's so beautiful. Unbelievable...
:-)
just the best. As always.
Ry Cooder is just amazing. I'm ashamed I didn't know if his playing for so long.
He still plays.
New releases too!
Look for ry taj mahal and Joachim cooder
SO COOL!
There is never a mistake in who is playing guitar when you hear a cut with Ry playing......
what a great posting------Love it. The guvnor, Ry Cooder with another demo of what true class is in a world of plastic, superficial dross. Keep them toones coming Ryland......I'm lovin it !
I never knew about this tour.Damn that would have been a good one.Sounds GREAT.
I saw the tour in Oz...real highlight & seeing Ry so close up was amazing...great great playing & tone
What a pair! Years of ❤️❤️💥💕
Nice, tight little trio right there...little wonder with that line up...I think that is RC's son on the drums
Love them. Ry is one of the greatest I have the chance to listen to.

Yes Manu too... he is just great n tasteful on tracey chapman's 'matters of the heart' album
Thank you @@Womble1252 , I'm not familiar with this one. I'm going to listen closely to it. Have a nice day!
@@sylvainswift3234 no worries..also check out joe satriani's self titled blues album manu is beaut on..
Yes....Pick is just amazing.
Ry Cooder AND Nick Lowe?? 😀 wow!!
Great Nante their favorite Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe is seen together.
I'd like to see these two or Little Village.
There are multiple writers listed for this fine song, but I think I detect a heavy Nick Lowe presence in its creation.
A clear sound, wish you many times off fun and let the times roll on
A+!
damn that's sweet
Two cool guys
Fantastic! What a trio. Nick and Ry are of course great, but you can't overlook Joachim's drumming.
Joachim cooder has his own CD now
Also playing with ry and taj maha
Great stuff! Check it out!
Xoxox
wow,, what a combo
Wooonderfull!!!
I saw them at the Carré Hall in Amsterdam in 2009. They were very good. Too bad Flaco Jiminez wasn't with them.
Not much into wine I see. These guys' musical soul just gets sweeter and deeper. Listen to the solo at 2:00.
A LOVE WON'T LAST IF IT'S BUILT ON SAND, IF IT'S BUILT ON ROCK A'INT NOTHING THAT IT CAN'T WITHSTAND!
Jesus of Cool! Não tem pra ninguém.
nick lowe. so good
Ry makes one six string sound like a mariachi band.

Oooh the end! Hi Ry!
Omg I was just going to comment about the end of this and I noticed I already commented about it. I beat myself to it!
Would love to see Little Village give it another go . . .
@pretorious700

Nick didn't think the Little Village album was good. Only the Basher would explain that with "Warner Brothers kind of gave us too much time to do it."
God bless these guys, but the spark went out a while back
I beg to differ...☝️😐🎸🥁🎯
No Way
Go easy on Ry sir he don't like Brits...damn open G lol
Saw this show but felt £65 for a ticket was on the high side!
too expensive indeed.
I would have wanted to see elvis for that money ,,
+Wee Crabbit Man, Bob Dylan was in Amsterdam and the tickets were nearly 200 dollars. That's why I couldn't go.... : (
The price of concerts is just nuts. Crazy. Why does art have to be full of money grabbing?
