Thank you for recommending it. Was unable to put it down. This writing style was a bit new to me. One moment she is talking in first person and then suddenly she starts narrative everything as 'the wife'. It feels like she was thinking aloud all throughout. Which made it raw and so beautiful. Witty and dark. I think I enjoyed it more because I'm currently also reading Deborah Levy and Dani Shapiro. It feels like I'm in one of my best reading phases. Thank you so so much for introducing me to these women! Lots of Love! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, Vaani. I'm exactly feeling the same thing at this juncture. I'm deeply concerned about sacrificing my aspiration of becoming an art monster due to the pressures of marriage. And I foresee that marriage might take precedence in my life. It is challenging to disregard familial expectations, and there's also the fear of missing out as I age. ( I'm a guy)....This predicament certainly feels like a double edge sword. How does one navigate these expectations and fears? ..........Vaani, I cannot express my gratitude enough for the times you've helped me. The first time, you suggested Ruskin Bond's book, 'Brief Notes from the hills', which significantly helped me deal with loneliness and appreciate the smaller aspects of life. I have the utmost respect and gratitude for you. I'll definitely give this a read and reach out to you. Regards, Snehil ( Nobody)
Hi Vani, Thanks for introducing these gems into our lives, I am super grateful for what you are doing, the views are less but trust me every single one who see these videos are impacted on a deeper level. Thankyou again!
My 19 year old self had a list of non negotiables, when it came to career, feelings, relationships and something she was most able of was if her older self will be able to stick to this list, she never it was going to be difficult and looking back even though I have come a long way but today I feel with a few things, I have let her down and that gives me a very sinking feeling. Defn going to read this book.
Have you read any Irish literature? I highly suggest you read some Yeats, Joyce (Dubliners is one of the best collections of short stories), John McGahern, Beckett, Shaw, Edna O'Brien etc. (I assume you have read some Oscar Wilde already) Some of the best literature- or at least my favourite- in the English language is disproportionately Irish, I have come to realise. Something about especially how Joyce writes about his Dublin speaks to me about our India generally now. Incredible writers.
Everyone(including books) tells you what to do and whats good for you. They don't want you to find your own answers, they want you to believe theirs. So find your own answer . Don't drive your analogy from books.
True, I always like to discover my own answer , have my own opinion . But also I like to listen & read others perspective. There is no right & wrong, everything is subjective. Understanding others point of view helps to shape yours own too sometimes
