    What is the reasoning behind removing the inside color?

      Mainly so I can identify the outline of the image.

    I am brand new to laser cutting/etching -- my laser cutter has been delivered, but I have yet to do anything with it. My question: can the files I create with Inkscape be sent to my machine for cutting or etching, or would I use Inkscape for editing/creating a file and then need another piece of software to which the Inkscape file would be exported, and then the second software would then direct the machine.
    Thank you for your time and assistance.

      The machines I work with at my school are Epilog Helix and Epilog Mini. For some reason Inkscape and the machines don't mesh up too well, some sort of a bug. So I use Inkscape for creating and editing. I save the file as a PDF and then send the file to my machines from Adobe Reader. When we were still using Adobe Illustrator we could send the files directly from Illustrator. I have even sent pictures and files over from Microsoft Word and they work just fine. But from Inkscape, the program and my machines don't mesh well.

      @@Tfill27productions I think they can be drawn in Inkscape and then use LaserGBRL to control the machine cutting. Thats my plan anyway.

    Phillip, At the end of the video Set Up An Image for Laser Cutting, you said something about GOOGLE CLASSROOM and getting extra points. Is this a series of classroom exercises, and if so where can I find the next google class

    • @Tfill27productions
      @Tfill27productions  Год назад

      I do not have a series of classroom exercises. I simply use Google Classroom as a place for my students upload the images they have converted for engraving/cutting to me.

    Just viewed your video. Perhaps you can guide me in the right direction. I recently acquired a 1500W fiber laser cutter that has CypOne as it's operating system. Can I use Inkscape to produce DXF files in the same method demonstrated in the video? I'm fairly new to the machine. I have experience with Lightburn for my 100w laser cutter, so I understand they're both different. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Would you be so good and could you please share the "black and whites" folder for me? It would greatly improve my work :)

    Dear, I have just saw this video and this is very useful for me! I am real beginner and this is my almost first touch with inscape and other things related with this kind of hoby, let us say. I would like to ask you for advice: if I want to make box, I have that box here :), do I have only one option - to draw it (according to dimensions) in inscape (side by side) and then prepare it for cutting by cnc?
    Thank you in advance and best regards!

      I do a project where we make light boxes or lanterns. I drew the parts for that in Google SketchUp to get the dimensions right and then had to jump threw a bunch of hoops to convert it to make it work in Inkscape. I got it to work my way but it was too difficult and I would not recommend that way only because I think I made it so difficult. Lol.

    If you save this as a PDF and print from Adobe Reader, do you have to make any changes? I’ve tried with other images to print directly to an Epilog Mini 24 and it will only recognize raster engraving but not vector. We are trying to find a way to do vector cutting without bringing the image into Corel Draw ($$). Are there special settings (aside from the stroke width) to get the vector recognized?

    • @Tfill27productions
      @Tfill27productions  2 года назад +1

      That I do not know. I found this method through another teacher's work online. I don't remember the source. Thankfully, he had the same machine as me. I was thrilled that it all worked because I was in a major pickle when my district cancelled our Illustrator subscription.
      The only changes I make is in the "printer preferences" of changing the job from a raster to a vector.

      "Black and Whites." That is a folder full of images that I have downloaded and made available to students in my class. I mention that in the video. You can simply use any black and white image stencil you choose.

    Great video, and thank you for sharing your black and white files. I found that when I export my pdf from Inkscape to my ULS machine it doesn't recognize the vector cut lines, even when set to .001 in and with the correct color red (255,0,0). It automatically rasterizes everything. I'm thinking it may be due to my settings when saving it as a pdf. Any thoughts on this?

    • @Tfill27productions

      It may not work for you machine that has its own program. I am using Epilog Helix/Mini and those machines allow me to send the signal (or print) directly from Adobe Reader as if it were a standard printer. I can also "print" directly from Microsoft Word and Adobe Illustrator. I can do it straight from Inkscape but there is a particular bug to it and it doesn't print (engrave or cut) correctly.

      The laser engraver folder is a folder of images that I provided to my students via Google Classroom and/or Google Drive. That is stated in the video. Inkscape or the internet does not provide this. I provided a folder with many images they could choose from for their projects.
