- This is my first ever lyric video, and I knew I had to do this song as the first one. My Chemical Romance has saved my life on two occasions ever since I started listening to them at age 8. I would be lying six feet under without them, and they help me to carry on through each and every day. All rights and restrictions go to MCR, the wonderful people who deserve the credit. This will probably die in the comments, but I need to vent so fuck it.
My dad died recently. About three weeks back now. It's been hard to enjoy anything without him around. It started with eating (I couldn't stand the thought of enjoying a meal in the wake of his passing), then with reading or gaming or other leisurely activities (how can I have relax & have fun when he's gone), and finely with music (something which I have always found solace in, but actively avoided b/c I didn't want to try & paint over my his death in my heart with a soundtrack).
This song literally describes where I'm at right now. I'm mourning my dad, remembering all the good times we had, desperately trying to crystalize his presence in my mind, and comforting my mother as we both try to put our lives back together.
Moreover, it expresses something I've realized is really, really important. That instead of just grieving, I want to try to celebrate my dad's life & his legacy. I want to remember him warmly and carry his spirit of optimism through my life; my own black parade in remembrance of my dad.
It's funny though, b/c this song is also a recurring feature in drunk gaming/karaoke playlists I share with a good friend. I can't count how many times we've our whisky addled brains thought it would be a good idea to scream this song at the top of our lungs. I can't help but laugh thinking about it.
And so here I am, typing out this long ass post, tears in my eyes thinking about my dad, and chuckling softly over benders past.
Life is a mixed bag, isn't it?
Anyway, thanks for reading all this, if you happened to have literally nothing better to do.
Now go touch some grass, and appreciate what you have while it's still around.

When I heard this song starting to play in the Lucifer finale I laughed my ass off, I was about to cry because it was too emotional and I completely lost it when I heard the G note
I really like how positive and optimistic it feels, it’s nice sometimes to have an uplifting “marching” song to get you through the tough days. “how to disappear completely” by Radiohead and “Seven devils” by Florence + the machine have long been my “Get through it” songs, but I think this one may make the perky playlist!! ❤️

People say songs like this are emo, but in reality the ideas of life and death are such complex things that only song can truly put into perspective how things are. You can read up on a bunch of complex facts…..you can listen to it here, but at some point we are all going to experience it. But we just keep on going forward, and that’s what makes life so magical, from point A to point Z we meet friends and family and experience plenty of wonderful things, and in the good also comes the bad, but family and friends help us keep moving forward.
I know it's 2017, but I need to spread this. When MCR broke up, the last lyric they ever played, was "so long, and goodnight" from Helena. This shook me to the core.

You know, having read the Lyrics, I think this song is relatively inspiring and uplifiting. I think it's the story of a person who, after learning their father is terminally ill, their mother already long since passed, and having experienced tragedy, loss, and pain, is being begged not to take their own life but instead stand as an inspiration to others suffering similarly, and the final chorus is the person remaining humble, acknowledging that they are continuing on, not because they believe they're some grand savior or hero, but because they wish to honor their father's last wishes and keep going despite everything, and the uplifting tone of the instrumentals near the end denotes that once they make it through their suffering, there's peace and happiness on the other end.

My ex girlfriend’s favorite band was my chemical romance. She would sing your songs day and night and engraved them into my head. She died last week. I find myself breaking down every time I hear her favorite songs or see her favorite shows on my recommended. Music really is the key to your soul and when we would sing these songs together it’s as if time stood still. The vibrations I carry with me when these songs play keep her alive and I’m thankful for that. But there won’t be a day I don’t miss that beautiful person.
