Cecyza is Peruvian, a resident of São Paulo since 2009, a collector of vinyl records and DJ. She participates in several parties and festivals in São Paulo and other cities in Brazil, Latin America and Europe since 2014. Her collection refers to music from all decades from Latin American artists and explores a variety of different genres such as guarachas, cumbia, salsa, boogaloo until house and techno produced or inspired by Latin artists.
In this episode, she's playing some incredible records that focus on Synth Pop with Spanish lyrics from the '80s and '90s.

6:10 For a Brazilian it's strange listening to Luis Miguel singing synth pop, as we associate here most to the cover version of the bolero classic "La Barca", a hugely successful song here. It's a sensation like listening to an AI cover of something that you'd never link to a given person, like those Japanese songs "sung by Michael Jackson".

This is one of those days when Peru appeared in some hours of my day, as I started listening to this set before World Cup Qualifiers match between Peruvian and Brazilian national teams and concluded the audition after the end of the round. I consider some of those coincidences that aren't that coincidental.
First of all, my surprise is that someone living in the largest city of the Southern Hemisphere played on MAJ's studio in London. We see Peruvians here in São Paulo with a certain frequency, despite not being as commonplace as Bolivians are (Brazil has the second largest Bolivian diaspora in the world, losing only to Argentina).
There are some Peruvian cultural manifestations here in São Paulo, like a restaurant called Rinconcito Peruano, that brings some people to the central area of the city, that nowadays is very decayed due to some factors. Today this restaurant network has eleven units, some of them in uptown neighborhoods like Morumbi, Itaim Bibi and Moema, so successful it became. Despite this, you can see other units that are placed near the highest concentrations of Peruvians in São Paulo, like the central area (three units) and one in the city of Guarulhos, that is also home to a significant part of Peruvian expats living here.
Peru and Brazil tend to be a bit distant in cultural terms, specially due to the fact that the Andes almost separate the countries (you can see the Andean shadow on the sunsets in the state of Acre, so tall are these mountains). Brazilians at most associate our neighbors to Machu Picchu, as this is a very common tourist international destination for someone living here (we can say that in almost every Brazilian university you'll find someone that was there). In terms of literature, it must be pointed that Mario Vargas Llosa is a popular author among my compatriots that like to read.

Azabache - Baila ... discogs lists it as "A Bailar" ... The original appears to be Alisha - All Night Passion (1984). The Finnish "Kasko" project probably modeled their cover after this version.
