You are great amazing teacher..I have never used circular needles before..now I will make a hat for my grandson using your methods..hope I can do it..Ive also learned from you strechy bind of and used it in my grand son's booties cuffs ..thank you.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! I was so frustrated that i couldn't do something that the other knitters said were so easy in your comments (the one from the easy magic loop, and granted, I'm still a beginner). Turns out the yarn was meant to be that far down!! Thank you ❤❤
I've learned ML from you and have been using it for the last few months. I love it! You're an amazing teacher Staci! Thank you so much for all the effort you put into your videos and tutorials. Just know you're greatly appreciated not just by me but by many people. Happy Holidays :)
Your demo was the best I have come across...you made it so simple. I have watched a few others that just make it seem complicated to say the least. Thank you!
Thank you thank you thank you! I knew about the magic circle/loop in crochet, but had no idea about a magic circle in knitting. Now I can use the pattern I downloaded!!!! x So excited to have learned something new!
As a beginner I wanted to make a hat in the round primarily because I can’t sew up yet, and even though others wouldn’t notice I was in the mindset that they could. I purchased a starter pack of interchangeable needles that came in three sizes with three cable sizes. I came across some literature and a video to put the cables in hot water to uncurl them which I did. I found my hat I wanted to knit and wrote down the plan of action. So I’m ready!! Nope I wasn’t ready….I just presumed that the small cable was going to be nice and neat and full and kinda easy to do. Boy was I wrong. I was at the point of either cutting them up or strangling myself with them! Then I heard of magic loop. So off I went again poised and ready. Nope I just didn’t get it no iota of anything. I carried on looking and watching video after video and I realised that the longer cord was the way to go. So here we go again and another fail. Then I watched your tutorial and bingo! Yey I get now that I can just just yank up the yarn and off I go. I also realised that I was trying to do it with the working needle and yarn on the right hand side ( needles pointing upwards cable abreast to myself)like in straight knitting! I think that was the major reason why I was failing and I was still looking at empty needles 12hrs later (I kid you not) and a pile of curly wasted yarn! I will admit sometimes I find your tutorials difficult to understand let alone execute but this one was absolutely magic….. Thank you for teaching us how to knit. Take Care & Keep Safe.
I am so glad that I'm not the only one who found the concept of Magic Loop unfathomable. After many, many RUclips videos, I finally got it. Almost completed my first sock in Magic Loop. Dare I try two-at-a-time socks?
I just wanted to tell you that your videos are my "go-to" for learning new techniques--they are always easy to understand and I can quickly get started!
Maybe if it was called magic loops! Because as I am watching this to learn how to do it, I realized there is a loop on both sides. For some reason I thought there was only one loop all the time. Thank you for explaining it so clearly ❤️
This has been a LIFE SAVER! Knitting my very first sweater, top down raglan, and I couldn’t even get past casting on my German twists to even start the neck! Now I can thanks to this. Finally someone who answered all of my questions about working in the round. I was having such difficulty because every video I saw, people were using 3” needles, and I prefer 4-5”, plus my cord was 30” to begin with and I didn’t have enough cast ons to start like in other videos. This helps so much! Truly a life saver!
Hi Staci, thanks for your videos and nice tips on knitting. I notice you don't have a video on Jenny's surprisingly stretchy bind off yet, so I'd like to suggest this to you just as an idea to add to your repertoire. You see, I've tried your very stretchy bind off on my sock samples and it always didn't work for me, too flare out, don't know if it's a yarn thing, wool yarn just isn't that common in my place, tropical country, if there are, they're usually pricey, as a result, I end up using acrylic yarn most of the time. And back to the bind off, because the bind off you always use for socks knitting didn't work for my case, I ended up using the Jenny surprisingly stretchy bind off, which I find most suitable, it doesn't flare yet stretchy, but because of the YO, it does like fluted abit, perhaps if you do would like to hear you thoughts about it. Thanks
Thanks... I tried ML.. and I didn’t like all that cord hanging around, and felt confused. watched your first video, which was very good.. But.. I have small hands: and the whole thing felt so awkward... Even though SPN’s can be fiddle, I love my 16 and 9 inch needles.. I have a Knit Picks Options set of 16 inch interchangeable, and am considering getting the beautiful Zing set... They are gorgeous... Inalso have some fixed ChaiGoo Red Lace needles, as well as some HiyaHiya ones.. I love my growing collection, as most of my knitting is charity hat knitting, vhich I love doing.. Thanks fir this video... I might give Magic Loop another try... Or maybe not.😊 Sandy from Cincinnati ❤️❤️😎
Oh my thank you you've made it so much easier for me to understand I'm dyslexia and you've made it so much easier to understand thank you so very much I'm so grateful 😌😌😌
I think that I have maybe purchases needles that have a very short loop. When I try to tug on the work to get the working yarn closer to the piece, it won’t bend properly because the plastic loop is so small. I guess I’ll need longer circular needles lol
So glad to find your tutorial. I ran into a problem....you can't find needles smaller than a US 4. I'm working with lace yarn and knitting in the round with double pointed needles. I had wanted to use the Majic circle needles, but can't find them in 1,2 or 3 sizes. Bummer!
Hi Staci! Thanks for another great video! I'm pretty seasoned at working Magic Loop (although for socks, I'm a 9 inch gal, all the way!!), but lately I've heard of something called a "Traveling Loop", and I just can't seem to find out much about it. It seems that it's kind of like ML, but maybe there is only ONE loop, instead of two? Can you help clear this up for me please? Thank you so much, and keep up the fabulous work!
Gail Spangler Hi Gail. You’re correct. Only one loop with traveling loop. I pull the loop out the back of the work, so my needles are always close together like regular knitting in the round. It is super easy.
Hi, thank you for your tips - I find your videos really informative. I'm working on a project for a men's pair of gloves, but I do not know where to start especially when it comes to working the fingers and the thumb. Your sock heel videos are really useful, do you already have something similar for gloves at all, or is it maybe something which can be explored in figure videos?
Yes, I have this Learn to Knit Gloves tutorial here: verypink.com/2011/07/21/learn-to-knit-gloves/ You asked this question on a magic loop video - if you're question is if I have a video on gloves using magic loop, I don't. I actually don't recommend magic loop for glove fingers, it can be done, but using double-pointed needles is easier for most people when there are so few stitches on the needles.
I am doing Magic Loop 2 at a time socks, I am doing a different color yarn after my toe, do not know how that is done. My toe is one color and now want to join my other color. Can you help or direct me to one of your videos
Hi Staci, I'm thinking of using magic loop to knit TWO sleeves at a time on a raglan top-down sweater pattern (Rolling Rock by Thea Coleman). I've never done magic loop OR knitting two sleeves at the same time, so I'm a little nervous. My question is: will I be able to change the place where my extra cable comes out every row or so, in order to avoid that stretchy space between stitches that happens in that gap? Do you know what I mean? When I do my sleeves on DPNs, when I have knitted all my stitches off my left needle on to my right needle, and my left needle is freed, before going on to insert it back in and knit off the next needle, I'll knit two stitches off the NEXT left needle onto my right needle. I do that to avoid the wonky gap that can appear in the space where I change DPNs. Does that make sense? Do you think I can avoid that wonky gap when working two sleeves at a time in magic loop? Thanks!
Yes, I think I understand your question...and yes, you can keep moving the gap where the extra cord pokes out. This video explains it: ruclips.net/video/1mqIqRdJc68/видео.html
You have to be careful that it isn't twisted when you join in the round, and that it doesn't twist at the beginning of the second round. After that, there is usually too much fabric to get twisted. Not getting twisted is a matter of checking, and double checking at the beginning of the round.
Okay Staci, on a more positive note, I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong while I'm knitting magic loop. I have a hole and I don't know how or what I did it. I think that I accidentally passed a stitch, not dropped but passed it to keep from dropping it. The thing is, I don't remember doing it. How can I keep from making these silly mistakes?
Sorry - without seeing your work, I really can't say. It may have nothing to do with the fact that you're working in magic loop. You might want to visit your local yarn shop to let them see your knitting, and they can give you advice to what might be going on.
Is it at the first stitch on one of the halves of the round? I've done this in the past, and it was because I accidentally made a yarn over when picking up my working yarn to start the next half of the round.
Actually, it's in the middle of the work. That's why it's so perplexing to me. I think what I did was passed a stitch without knitting it. I'm at a loss as to what happened.
i just cant seem to wrap my head around this... have i been casting on wrong this whole time? cause my working yarn and tail are on different needles... :c i just cant figure this out at all edit: turns out i was casting on wrong the whole time! 😅 thought i was doing long tail but it was backwards loop. that's embarassing.
How about something other than 'good luck?' That sounds so...assumptive of failing. How about---have fun with this...enjoy your Magic Loop! Keep practicing. A little practice and you're on your way! Like that. And I like the clarity of your vid. Thanks!
Claudia I think you’ll survive with a good luck. I see you made it long enough to type this super picky criticism after you heard it, so I think you’ll be alright.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! This is going to save me from spending lots of money on different length circulars for my current sweater project!
Your videos are so helpful. I've tried ML several times but could never figure it out. Your first ML video was what I needed. Thank you!!
You are great amazing teacher..I have never used circular needles before..now I will make a hat for my grandson using your methods..hope I can do it..Ive also learned from you strechy bind of and used it in my grand son's booties cuffs ..thank you.

I knitted many hats for my new grandson as well as hats for Christmas presents. I used magic loop. Thanks for your video.
Thank you thank you thank you! I knew about the magic circle/loop in crochet, but had no idea about a magic circle in knitting. Now I can use the pattern I downloaded!!!! x So excited to have learned something new!
Oh my god why didn’t I get this before?! It’s so simple when you explain it.
As a beginner I wanted to make a hat in the round primarily because I can’t sew up yet, and even though others wouldn’t notice I was in the mindset that they could. Thanks, Staci - I learned magic loop from you and it works perfectly every time. You’re my favorite knitting teacher!
Thank you so much, I just could not do this, until I found your you on youtube, the best explained, now I can knit my Yorkie jumper 😊
So easy to follow. Love your 2 screen method, and your subtitles helped my old eyes!!! Been trying to figure this out, and you made it so easy
I just wanted to tell you that your videos are my "go-to" for learning new techniques--they are always easy to understand and I can quickly get started!
Thank you so much! You make it so much easier than I thought it would be!
Once again you have explained something that I can understand. You are the best! I always look for a video from you if I need help. Thank you.

Thanks for your help!! Explained beautifully 👍🏼
Thank you Staci for the video. I tried magic loop before and didn't like it, but will give it another try after watching this. Thanks again.
Thank you. Always love learning from you!! 💞
Staci, I've got it!! It took me many views, but by golly I've got it!!
Thank you!!
Hi Staci, thanks for your videos and nice tips on knitting.

Thank you! I feel confident to start now. Great tutorial 😀
Looks great, I'm going to try it today🤞
Thanks best knitting instructor.
thank you for this wonderful easy to follow video
Thank you! That was so clear. I’ve got my stitches cast on so off I go’
Thanks... I tried ML.. and I didn’t like all that cord hanging around, and felt confused.

Yes, it's good to have 32" circulars for magic loop.
I love ur nail paint
My goal is to learn magic loop this year ... thank you for this :)
Have you?
@@jaclyn4098 -- no but haven't given up. Life gets in my way .. :)
Please make video of magic loop and jogless stripes of either two or 4 row color changes & how to carry colors& what if want to carry 4 colors?

They're out there! Most interchangeable sets only go down to size 4 (except Chiaogoo sets), but you can find fixed needles down to 000.
Can you start this with 4 stitches? I am knew to this kind of knitting. Thank you for your help.

thanks a lot a usefull lesson from my favorite teacher I love you
Really helpful. Thanks so much!
I always have an issue of them twisting somehow, even after being extremely careful 😂. I prefer your GSR for socks, or flat for sleeves.
MrsG87 me to but I’ve got. After the four roll I can breath lol

I have looked at your Video, can you knit a shawl using this method?pattern states cast on 10 stitches, increase nearly every round.
ChiaoGoo circulars will help too- long cables.
Thank u. I always forget how to do this by the time i cast on a new project! Thnx

Super interesting! Thank you!
Can I do colourwork in 25% wool/75% acrylic. Just testing out a pattern and don’t want the expense of pure wool in case I can’t do it 🙉
Yes, that should work okay if it is a nice quality yarn.
thankyou
Hi stacy...can you show me how to avoid holes in armhole while doing raglan cardigan?
Here you go: ruclips.net/video/Pc4EiYS17GQ/видео.html
Stacy...i wish to watch how to pick up stitch n avoid holes...the link demonstrates already made sleeve n how to close those gaps already there
This video shows the technique for "pick up and knit": ruclips.net/video/htAHtNnuE7Q/видео.html
love it!
Staci ; can you use different interchangeable knitting cables with different brands? (ex: a "boye brand " with a "clover brands")
Sometimes - like I believe Knitter's Pride needles and cords work with Knit Picks. But it usually doesn't work that way between brands.
Thank you very much Staci and for your time.
Thank you!
Hi. What length of circular needles are you using? Thanks.
Magic loop is most easily worked with needles that are at least 32" long.
How do you keep from the stitches twisting. The first it’s ok. But the second row its twistind
You have to be careful that it isn't twisted when you join in the round, and that it doesn't twist at the beginning of the second round. After that, there is usually too much fabric to get twisted. Not getting twisted is a matter of checking, and double checking at the beginning of the round.
