The shrewsbury reminds me a lot of the boberg XR9S which has a very similar slide configuration and actually pulls the bullet backwards out of the magazine before chambering it which would explain why the slide goes back so far.
It is prob the strangest name for a pistol, because i think GTA V from what i remember has an proper AP pistol, while AP pistol itself is just automatic, so its really screwed.
In case Mr. Ferguson read this and he is not aware all weapons in gta V use bits of diferent weapons melded toguether to avoid licensing issue, same with the cars, they are all franksteins monster. Also there are level of penetration for guns in the game and bullets even have mass, but they are disabled and you can only change this with mods.
I'd really like to see Jonathan take on Starsiege: Tribes, Tribes 2, or Tribes Ascend weapons given that the weapons are all futuristic and sci-fi based I wonder if he'd be able to draw any comparisons to real life weapons short of just "both shoot some sort of projectile". As far as I have seen he's not done any videos that compared completely fictional weapons, nor do I know if it would even work as video but perhaps the writers could figure something out.
Could you check out Dayz? As a descendant of Arma series, it took guns quite realistically, I think Jonathan would appreciate some of it, especially bottle suppressor that gets ruined after a few shots :D And after years of development they've got quite an arsenal.
I may be wrong but I think he already did however, if he hasn't done it, I completely agree; the game has a lot of weapon variety and customization so it makes for a perfect game for this series!
At the beginning of the video, he says the first pistol isn't based on anything irl. But when I took a closer look at it, it looked like a Beretta Tomcat, which I think is what they were trying to go for
Cant believe they didnt show him the wind-up roller on the bottom of the G36 magazine, indicating that the guy who modelled it was looking at an airsoft G36 magazine when he made it! :D
I'd still like Jonathan to look at Halo weapons, especially the Halo Infinite weapons. There are a few images that can be found on the official Inside Infinite October 2021 blog where a few weapons have their exterior labeled. And of course there is the Halo wiki if he wants to know more.
There something about the shotgun that I want to hear what Johnathan have to say. It's the only game I see we're you load the shells on top of the gun. Not sure if there any gun like that in real life.
I would love to have a job similar to his. Study weapons all day and have extensive knowledge on them and being able to actually hold them. That’d be great.
Part of me would like him to review Generation Zero's weapons, at least to me the weapons there are fairly well depicted. Expect the Experimental versions which are clearly impossible but eh.
Vanguard weapons will require many episodes. Also I recommend reactions to Metal Gear Solid series when it comes to their weapons, including Phantom Pain.
Johnathan needs to take a look at Reciever 2. It's incredibly well detailed in how the small arsenal of the game is manipulated down to requiring manual control of reloading and clearing stoppages. It would be a fantastic pallete clenser after all the more cursed guns he's been through
I’d love to see him react to Receiver 2, since it has jamming mechanics, bullet penetration/ricochet, and reloading requires multiple button presses beyond just “press R”!
Have him watching Killing Floor 2's reloading and shooting animations. I'm pretty sure he'll really appreciate them. It has a minigun with proper magazine reloading for example lol
John would love Reciever, especially the second game. I'm a gun nut who's happy to provide footage in a timely manner if you guys wanna reach out to me :)
Jonathan is an absolute legend. Its 0130hr as I type this and Ive been watching 4 hours of his vids and i cant stop! Thanks for sharing your knowledge sir with the games we all love!
I think that the Wolfenstein series would be great to see Johnathan reviewing, because the alternate history german weapons have some interesting modifications.
Jonathan has talked before about guns being modeled after airsoft equivalents because the designers can get their hands on the toy and use it as reference. A loading screen in GTA V shows the character Michael with an rifle loading a winder wheel magazine into the well, and in game the Heavy Rifle has a wheel mag in it too.
Surely the ‘sniper’ or anti-materiel rifle is predominately inspired by the _AS50_ than anything Barrett? It certainly looks far more like the former judging by the images here. To be fair Jonathan did mention AS50 maker Accuracy International but still!
Tough one to comment while keeping a somewhat straight face ;) Jonathan did it well, and his knowledge is of course staggering. He reckognizes this extreme game series for what it is, but still keeps teaching us those intricate details about every gun even remotely similar to the ones in the game. Hats off.

Kind of off topic but I ended up in a nursing home for a week. Most people there were old and out of their minds. I ended up talking to to this one guy who had broke his back in a dirt bike accident but he was from Chile and had a bunch of stories from his time in the Chilean Armed forces (in the 70s I think). Said he was at the southernmost military base, guess he would drive the van to the nearest town and one day he flipped it. Ended up in the brig. Hope that guy is doing well.
@@Gatorade69 Oh wow, I really do hope he is doing well too, because I don't know if you know but Chilean Armed Forces in the 70's, yeah those words together are not taken lightly here. Ooooh! I would love to see Jonathan's reaction to the chainsaw bayonet! 😂
Borderlands 3:)
Halo as well
Warframe!
There's enough variation in the Mk II versions of all these guns to warrant another video, I'd say
I agree
2:44 I thought that he swore when he said “Blinged out, IF I CAN bring myself to use that word” Had to rewatch it a few times🤣
Same lmao i just realized he said “If I can” when i turned on the captions
"is definitely- are definitely" was a wonderful in-moment self-pedanticisation
The shrewsbury reminds me a lot of the boberg XR9S which has a very similar slide configuration and actually pulls the bullet backwards out of the magazine before chambering it which would explain why the slide goes back so far.
Same
I think the "fully auto machine pistol everyone and their mom is running around with" is 5.7 cause its called the AP pistol
And it's based off the Colt SCAMP.
It is prob the strangest name for a pistol, because i think GTA V from what i remember has an proper AP pistol, while AP pistol itself is just automatic, so its really screwed.
@@ThatTonnatoTenrec Auto Pistol Pistol
@@bmhater1283 Oh right, makes more sense, its also much dumber.
@@Stribog1337 so its a .22?
Love to see him go over the guns in “Into the Radius” since there are super faithful recreations of both modern and old, soviet era firearms.
GTA V always had horrible gunfire audio, finally someone calls them out.
At least there are mods in the game that change the gunsounds
Not even gonna lie I’m a huge gta 5 Stan and some of the guns do sound awful lol
The Halo video.
I would very much like to see him react to STALKER's weapons. Even for their time, they are reasonably realistic.
Could you check out Dayz? As a descendant of Arma series, it took guns quite realistically, I think Jonathan would appreciate some of it, especially bottle suppressor that gets ruined after a few shots :D
And after years of development they've got quite an arsenal.
and Arma didn't take guns realistically?
Yeah.
Maybe after 1.15 comes out because they are tweaking the fire rates to be more realistic, and adding the 2 aug variants.
We HAVE to see Johnathan react to Payday 2’s guns at some point, because it would be a waste not to.
I may be wrong but I think he already did
however, if he hasn't done it, I completely agree; the game has a lot of weapon variety and customization so it makes for a perfect game for this series!
@@surnuddsprs8365 Nope; at least, not on this channel. It has such potential for completely over the top bullshit lol
Jonathan needs to see the weapons from the PS2 era game BLACK. He's going to have a fun time with that game
That was an awesome game!
Jonathan, the man keeping this channel afloat.
I'd always interpreted the AP pistol as firing 5.7 Blue tip, hence the ridiculous capacity and in-game armor pen.
At the beginning of the video, he says the first pistol isn't based on anything irl. But when I took a closer look at it, it looked like a Beretta Tomcat, which I think is what they were trying to go for
The Halo series is something I’d love Jonathan to take a look at, mainly from Halo 3 and Reach
YES BRO YES! HALO FRANCHISE ALL THE WAY
Cant believe they didnt show him the wind-up roller on the bottom of the G36 magazine, indicating that the guy who modelled it was looking at an airsoft G36 magazine when he made it! :D
02:47 did Johnathan just... swear???
You can’t escape the inevitable Vanguard video, Jonathan
It'll just be 20 minutes of Johnathan curled up in the fetal position crying in a corner.
I feel like I'm being blueballed the COD Vanguard breakdown at this point. Come on lads, there's a goldmine waiting to be mined there.
You have to build the guns 1st...duh
He might look at them the week prior to the release, then do 6 after it's out.
@@lotf5lordofthe595 rmb-93 and the gm-94 load from the top
I would love to have a job similar to his. Study weapons all day and have extensive knowledge on them and being able to actually hold them. That’d be great.
Part of me would like him to review Generation Zero's weapons, at least to me the weapons there are fairly well depicted. Expect the Experimental versions which are clearly impossible but eh.
"Its a damn minigun" Terminator 2, spoken by a cop in a chopper when he sees the Terminator (Arnold) with a minigun.
i started watching these videos yesterday and wondered why they hadn't made one for GTA5. Skip forward 12 hours and its there.
Id like to see Johnathan take a look at Verdun, lets go back to 1914 where everything isn't an assault rifle or rocket launcher
Verdun and/or Tannenbaum would be great
"Guys the thermal drill, go get it!"
I'd love to see the 'mark II' weapons from the online series of weapons
Vanguard weapons will require many episodes.
Also I recommend reactions to Metal Gear Solid series when it comes to their weapons, including Phantom Pain.
Johnathan needs to take a look at Reciever 2. It's incredibly well detailed in how the small arsenal of the game is manipulated down to requiring manual control of reloading and clearing stoppages. It would be a fantastic pallete clenser after all the more cursed guns he's been through
Definetly, it has the most realistic gun handling Ive ever seen
I’d love to see him react to Receiver 2, since it has jamming mechanics, bullet penetration/ricochet, and reloading requires multiple button presses beyond just “press R”!
Vanguard gunsmith will give him a heart attack
Have him watching Killing Floor 2's reloading and shooting animations. I'm pretty sure he'll really appreciate them. It has a minigun with proper magazine reloading for example lol
John would love Reciever, especially the second game. I'm a gun nut who's happy to provide footage in a timely manner if you guys wanna reach out to me :)
no
@@bizw thanks for your input I guess?
I wish they’d do an episode with Verdun’s weapons
I know it's not a game, but I'd absolutely love Jonathan to react to the John Wick movies.
Or at least guns in movies
@@L_J_D23 Check the Royal Armouries channel
Jonathan is an absolute legend. Its 0130hr as I type this and Ive been watching 4 hours of his vids and i cant stop! Thanks for sharing your knowledge sir with the games we all love!
Love to hear Jonathan's thoughts on S.T.A.L.K.E.R and it's firearms
I think that the Wolfenstein series would be great to see Johnathan reviewing, because the alternate history german weapons have some interesting modifications.
I think Johnathan would mine reviewing Boneworks, the VR puzzle like game with really accurate gun physics!
The first gun resembles the Bond Arms bullpup. It's weird and does lock open pretty far back because the action is pulled further back.
15:12
"And probably this thing..."
*Casually pulls out SMG*
Jonathan has talked before about guns being modeled after airsoft equivalents because the designers can get their hands on the toy and use it as reference.
A loading screen in GTA V shows the character Michael with an rifle loading a winder wheel magazine into the well, and in game the Heavy Rifle has a wheel mag in it too.
Surely the ‘sniper’ or anti-materiel rifle is predominately inspired by the _AS50_ than anything Barrett? It certainly looks far more like the former judging by the images here.
To be fair Jonathan did mention AS50 maker Accuracy International but still!
No, it’s definitely based on the M82. I don’t know what you’re seeing with the AS50
I would like to point out that the first pistol mentioned looks to be Rockstar’s version of the Boburg Bullpup 9. Yes, a bullpup 9mm handgun
I would still love to see some more sci-fi contents of this I’d be really cool to see John’s opinion on guns that aren’t real from stuff like halo
Tough one to comment while keeping a somewhat straight face ;) Jonathan did it well, and his knowledge is of course staggering. He reckognizes this extreme game series for what it is, but still keeps teaching us those intricate details about every gun even remotely similar to the ones in the game. Hats off.
I would love to meet this man if I ever get the pleasure of visiting england. Your videos are calming and informative. Keep em coming.
Chilean here, I can't belive a FAMAE weapon is being held by Jonathan! Also, as a former infantry man I was used to the assault rifle version and when I tried that smg I hated it lol
I wonder if he meant the Coyhaique Military Base, which is one the most secluded ones in the south, cuz I actually applied to that regiment but couldn't get there.
Also, the Desert Eagle in this game fires in double action. The real thing is SAO.
"von" also means "of" in titles, like in "Duke of Edinburgh" - which is an even more epic name for gun manufacturer.
Also: i would love to see you do PUBG!
Yes, but this is "vom". The german name "Vom Feuer" makes no sense, but who cares, right? Some gratuitous german never hurt anyone.
Hi Johnathan! I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I just wanted to mention that all of the SMGs and pistols in the game eject rifle round looking casings. Also, one detail I think is pretty cool is that in first person you can see the hammer move on revolvers as you pull down the trigger (although speaking of revolvers the ‘double action revolver’ is never used in double action lol)
First gun is a Bond Arms Bullpup9. The “bullpup” design explains why the slide locks back so far.
