Honestly, that kind of ruins the entire situation. What is the point of choosing to tell the truth if you’re already bringing a doll in the first place? The game should’ve at least given you the option to lie by saying “I couldn’t find the baby”.

When you think about it, in the original tale, Pinocchio remained a puppet as long as he lied, and only when he told the truth, he was one step closer to becoming a real boy. In this game though, puppets can't lie. So, for P to become a real boy...he HAS to lie. Kind of an interesting twist of the original tale's concept.
So if he lies then he is in fact willfully ignoring that he, himself, is a puppet. If he tells the truth he is reconciling that he’s nothing but a puppet. O the projection

A video game where you play as Pinocchio, telling the truth and lies change the course of the story, and having fighting mechanics like Elden Eing or Bloodborne. This sounds like a masterpiece I never knew we needed!!!!!!
That’s how lies are often used to not tell the sad and horrible truth. These lies often carries with empathy for the other and that’s a human thing, so I think the game is showing that P is a real boy, he lies because he feel empathy, a machine wouldn't do that because they would be apathetic.

That's the issue we humans lie to not hurt people's feelings but although the truth may hurt it is better than living a lie and it is ultimately what is right even if it's not what people want to hear sometimes they NEED to hear it

I'm capable, but the burden of guilt is too strong for me, so this game will be unique in the sense that my only possible playthrough will be 100% truthful. Hopefully there's an achievement for that! 👏
It is literally impossible to beat the game if you don't lie. From the demo I've seen that you are blocked from entering the hotel, where you can upgrade your character and from where you progress into the story. In order to be accepted inside, you need to say that you are human and not a puppet, which is a lie. If you don't lie, then you stay blocked from entering. Maybe 99% truthful? That could work probably. But if the game will either be really fucking hard or straight up impossible, depending on whether or not you are prevented from progressing the story as a level 1 character and with the ability to level up. Obviously, there are many people who have beaten the Souls games with SL1, so there it is possible to do so, but I am not sure if it would be possible here. So, in short - this goal will either be basically SL1 difficulty or literally impossible. Good luck, tho. I won't be happy if the game as restrictive, as I am anticipating.

But tbh, some people may deem it more human to tell her the truth, no matter how hurtful, to give her the opportunity to accept reality and move on. Keeping her trapped in a lie may seem like the best thing but the repercussions doesn't necessarily give her the best futur. Similarly, telling her the truth may come from a human concern of her coming to terms with it - it would be a hopeful way of thinking - but the "mother" could take it poorly and go mad or end her life. On top of lacking tact, it would end up being kind of cruel and apathic - like a puppet. So idk bro! But the game probably did chose a right answer to this philosophical dilemma it raised up. And I would guess that the game would prefer you to lie, that's what I think.
@@leoniemelodie7 yes, there are a lot of choices to make. And many factors to be taken into account. With this woman there is one important thing: she doesn’t have much time left. She is dying from lethal disease and probably has only few days left. Lie can be mercy and bring her a little peace before she dies. It seems that truth would only cause her more pain without any real chance to change anything. When I watched the playthrough, and she asked to bring her baby back, I wished Morph to refuse, because mother was clearly ill and dying, and I didn’t want to bring her baby who may still be healthy. It was a huge relief to see that “baby” she talked about was puppet.
@@Beading_Kate I really wanna watch this playthrough, the game sounds really cool honestly. And this situation was a good "introduction" to the game, because I bet there's gonna be other choices that can only be truly understood by playing it. Just like you said, that this lady was on the verge of death and that the least harm done was the right thing to do. I completely agree! These themes are very interesting.
I struggle so much with this aspect because I want to be compassionate with my choices but what if it'll end up affecting the ending if we lie or not 😭 I told the dying lady her baby was cute though, it would be heartbreaking not to. Also does anyone know what happens if you tell the hotel entrance that you're a puppet?
Don't worry too much about your choices affecting the ending. Better to choose what feels right and fully embrace the story. I sometimes chose lies, sometimes truths, and yet I still got the best ending and even that special wooden weapon and the fullest cat hugs in the same playthrough. You get plenty of humanity by listening records or doing additinal things - such as performing appropriate emotes in certain situations. In other words, if you aim for the best ending, it's enough to be empathethic and act like you would in these situations, alongside performing small human gestures and little acts of kindness. These, arguably, are what makes us human.
It would’ve been a great inclusion to the game to have the ‘puppet’ choices be highlighted green instead of red, because playing video games, and in turn this one as a ‘puppet’ without knowing you’d choose the (green)good choice instead of a neutral or evil choice
Sometimes the ambiguity is part of the experience. If you reduce the choice to a simple "red or green" it wouldn't be as thought provoking or engaging as this more nebulous choice.
hmm I respectfully disagree. it would take away the nuance of the choices you're making. there's no wholly good or bad choice. it's more interesting if players don't know what they're doing is right or wrong
[Repeat of buried comment in a crowded thread:] I... don't know. Case by case. I used to stand staunchly on that very hill, but after caring for a couple dementia patients at different degrees of mental degredation... I don't know. Funny enough, I'm not quite "normal" as far a sparing my own feelings anyway, so guilt is not something I regularly feel for MYSELF when sharing/admitting hard truths to others. But when it comes to other people, I learned that sparing others' feelings isn't necessarily a bad thing if the truth is something that will bring undue/unnecessary harm. I learned that by (lucky for me) watching someone else go through it the hard way, and it was REEEALLY hard to watch. No one wins, everyone's in a more complicated and frustration situation (because humans can be unprediCtable), and the only thing that is resolved is the need to be "right." Not every battle is worth the cost to fight; sometimes... [Lord, i can't believe i'm saying this...] it's appropriate to lie. Not even just tiny white lies either. Mortal danger can count depending on case to case (under duress), stuff kinda like that. Just don't fucking LIVE in the land of lies. That's a great way to burn everyone and everything down (including yourself) without even PRINCIPLES to stand on.
This is actually a cool concept. If I'm playing this I wouldn't know if lying to her would cause me to be a puppet in the end or if hurting her feelings is what will lead to that
Lying would make him more human as lying to her that it is a baby as she has a mental illness and dying is empathic, which is a feeling, and if he can feel empathy, he’s becoming less like a puppet more human
I'm definitely going to do two playthroughs one where I tell only lies, the other only truths (or at least as many truths possible). But I donno. I might just mix it up first playthrough to enjoy it and go for other routes afterwards.
For the first time since different versions of this Tale have Come out, lying is portrayed as a human reaction and not as something only a Monster would do

@@cassmi8783 lost interest when you could have sex with a bear
Thanks for the recommendation. It looks great
Bros handsome💀
I find it cool how in the classic pinnocio he can’t lie but here it’s the opposite he’s the only one who can
I’m just learning the MC is Pinocchio
I can't believe I never made the Pinocchio connection until now.
What she say if you tell the truth?
She does not believe you.
@@Kenzaki1010 then i'd rather lie
"shes cute baby"pinocchio aint stopin nowhere
i love the bloodborne-esque vibe in this one.
Bro they wrong for releasing this the same day as Mortal Kombat lmao
Not really seeing the problem here, both games are completely different genres that appeal to different audiences.
@@sirernest546 and I am a fan of both. So they wrong lmao
@@GoB1996 in that case buy both games
@@sirernest546 stop being a buzzkill you fuckin nerd
@@sirernest546ill be getting both itll be hard to choose which one to play first ! Both look great
I like everything about this game except for its commitment to the nursery rhyme language of Pinnoccio
I tried that first and the robot just says that you puppets are a problem and stupid and you have to lie to get in anyway
It doesn't let you in and u just speak again and lie
Don't worry too much about your choices affecting the ending. Better to choose what feels right and fully embrace the story. I sometimes chose lies, sometimes truths, and yet I still got the best ending and even that special wooden weapon and the fullest cat hugs in the same playthrough. You get plenty of humanity by listening records or doing additinal things - such as performing appropriate emotes in certain situations.
In other words, if you aim for the best ending, it's enough to be empathethic and act like you would in these situations, alongside performing small human gestures and little acts of kindness. These, arguably, are what makes us human.
Nobody:
Gepetto’s Puppet: Das a cute bebe
Through truth a door opens to move on
Through lies a door will always stay closed, preventing to move on
Im so excited for this to come out tmrw
@@voidnoidoid true thinking more about it keeping it ambiguous makes more sense for a homunculus
[Repeat of buried comment in a crowded thread:]
No one wins, everyone's in a more complicated and frustration situation (because humans can be unprediCtable), and the only thing that is resolved is the need to be "right."
Not every battle is worth the cost to fight; sometimes...
One thing to consider is the source material. Being honest was a big point in that.
For the first time since different versions of this Tale have Come out, lying is portrayed as a human reaction and not as something only a Monster would do
Not me realizing literally this second that it was Pinocchio
Genuinely had no idea this was the premise of this game and now I will play it sounds very interesting
Also gives you the one of the best songs in the game
This honestly looks really good
I love that mechanic im now interested in the game
I am a huge Bloodborne fan and I was so starved for games similar to it. After just seeing this short, that's it, I'm buying this one
If lying affects combat it smells like a challenge run to me
"She's a cute baby" - 😊
"She's cute baby" - 💀
The perfect example of it is that there are no major consequences whether u lie or not
