      Raptors were going to rebuild anyway. atleast this way theyll have more money to do it. if kawhi stays, good....if he doesnt they have the money to start over. they were already too far behind boston, and philly is only missing one piece. Also, they can even trade kawhi mid season if its not working out. its not the best trade , but CC is making it seems as the worst move ever, when it really isnt.

The guy said he will not play in Vancouver before the draft, so Stu drafts him and then trades him for spare parts. He drafted and signed Big Country Reeves. Nick is 100% correct in this one. If they kept Derozan, they would be the 3rd best team in the East not only this year, but for years to come considering how young the Celtics and 76ers are. If they won 59 games with Derozan, they can only get better with Kawhi. Not only that, if Kawhi walks, they get needed cap flexibility in spite of big contracts from Jonas, Ibaka, and Lowry. They do lose Derozan, but by standing pat, they were going nowhere.

I mean they say theyre is no competition in the league, then a team trades for arguably the 3rd best player when healthy and they call them out for it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. The Raptors were never gonna win with those two backcourt players so they did what Portland and Washington should have done ages ago which is trading for a star wing player. Im also not that convinced Philly is any better then this Raptors team. People should celebrate this move

  • @JeffF2024
    @JeffF2024 6 лет назад +1

    I disagree with the rebuild mode. Raptors will open up a lot of cap space for next season stacked NBA free agency depends if Kawhi stays or not with the team. Good trade for both teams

    • @justincote2744
      @justincote2744 6 лет назад

      One problem with that: what attracts free agents to Toronto and when was their a huge free agent signing there? Players don't prefer going through customs and in the cold weather...Raptors better hope kawhi falls in love with the city

  • @dentonyoder4652
    @dentonyoder4652 6 лет назад

    Toronto was capped having DeMar as their best player. They're betting they can keep a player in a weak east in a large market city. It's risky but they have a chance.

    The Raptors weren't going anywhere even with Lebron gone. They got swept by that bad Cavs team which would have been beat by a complete Celtics lineup.

    • @lawrencemcdonald9212

      James Ber and same cavs team that represented the east just to get swept in the finals

    • @RRRRRRRRR33
      @RRRRRRRRR33 6 лет назад +1

      The celtics would get swept in the finals as well. In the end, what really matter in this regular season is related to these small narratives. LeBron in LA playing with scrubs, San Antonio "rebuilding", etc.. Because we know (again) the final result.

    • @Sequel7
      @Sequel7 6 лет назад

      celtics will be in the finals with ease.

    • @RRRRRRRRR33
      @RRRRRRRRR33 6 лет назад

      Celtics could maybe get one, they have the best coach in the game... But the talent disparity is just so insane. This league proved time and time again that star power is the prime factor in many championships, so much so that was the reason why the celtics was beaten by the cavs.

  • @rashardstallworth9240
    @rashardstallworth9240 6 лет назад +1

    I understand why the Spurs did what they did but for the Raptors to have the number one record in the conference to do something like this after promising the player they wouldn't trade him and after firing the NBA coach of the year who has led them to back-to-back 50 plus win seasons but Luke Walton still employed in LA after winning 26 games one year in 35 games the next year. This makes no sense. If the Raptors would have kept their coach and their players this may have been the year for them to win the championship. No one knows that's why they play the game. Everyone assumes Boston will be the best team in the east but when Haywood is playing and Tatum is on the bench that may create a chemistry a issue. Also, when Kawhi is playing it may create an issue for Rozier and Smart. No one else. Psychologically the Warriors maybe fatigued and they just might not make it to the Conference Finals or to the NBA finals this year it happens but the Raptors in my opinion have made a bad decision.

    9:35 is the key question to this entire trade, Kyle Lowry now knows this team will pull a Celtics/Isaiah move on him in the future so they Should expect him to pull a Kawhi on them this season - an injury though.

  • @kambuibomani231
    @kambuibomani231 6 лет назад

    not that complicated. Toronto took the two best propositions they have for their future. Trade a part of their duo for Kawhi to shake things up for the present in terms of competing in the East. Then if Leonard decides to leave they can just trade away Lowry Ibaka and Valacunis as well and construct a full rebuild.

  • @tormentor91

    It's amazing to me how opposed those two are to this trade.
    These guys wanted him to be traded to the Lakers because they know, now that he is in Torronto the chances of him going there are reduced. Still good maybe, but everyone thought Paul George would leave for the Lakers too.
    As for the Raptors, they may have reduced their chemistry somewhat but significantly upgraded their Roster. Maybe for just one year, but we bash other teams for not trying their best to win. The Raptors did that, they have a much better chance now than they had before, even though it comes at a risk.

  • @JazzyJ5G

    For whatever legitimate issues Kawhi had with SA, he has done himself no favors by his handling of this situation from a business standpoint-other than getting paid $19 million not to play, for which he'll now take a huge loss in taxes next season. I hope it's worth it to him when he finally gets to LA and whatever contract he can get then.

  • @rickrude7916
    @rickrude7916 6 лет назад +2

    Two things: 1. Not only did the Spurs sent Kawhi from the west but they sent him out of the country all together. lol2. DeRozan finally got rid of Lebron and now has to face him in the West. I swear DeRozan will have nightmares about Lebron way into old age lol

    As a raptors fan I hate this trade. As much as I wanted Kawhi we just traded derozan, probably the best raptor ever for a one year rental where I doubt we’ll even make it out of the east for one simple reason kawhi doesn’t want to be here. Masaii just wanted to be able to say that he got a franchise player. WHAT A WASTE!!!
