Nice little video. And I think its definitely still worth the trip up even with only 1 photo and no camping! Really liking this series thus far!
Totally agree! Glad you're enjoying! I think there's going to be a slight shift in format starting with the next one, but besides that it'll keep going as-is for the foreseeable future.
I definitely know that feeling when you’re out in the wilderness, the conditions aren’t quite what you are prepared for, and that voice in your head tells you to move on. It’s always good to listen to that voice. Thanks for taking us along as always. I sure love the sound of the mirror/shutter of a Hasselblad.
Yeah, that was just a weird day all around. Ended up being a long hike back in the pitch dark and I psyched myself up a bit, somewhat convinced there were bears in the woods, haha. Have you shot any medium format cameras before? I wondered if you'd give that a shot when you were looking for 8x10 alternatives for when that didn't feel right. Looks like you got an a7riv though?
beautiful
Your videos bring me peace, keep going with your amazing work. Cheers!
Your videos are so inspiring. Thank you for the good vibes
Just found your channel. Love your work, Brian. Subscribed!!
Awesome, thank you!
This year is just weird. very weird. Snow came way to early for us over her on the western slope of Colorado.
I wished I would have known you before. This is right in my backyard. Please let me know when you come back to Colorado. I'll take you to very cool areas up to Arapahoe Pass.
Nice video again, one of my favorite wilderness areas in Colorado! I've visited it many times but, like you in this video, I've always struggled to photograph it! Still a nice image you got, nice work! I've seen a ton of good shots from the Collegiate by a guy named Alex Burke, but I'm sure you know him already.
Thanks! Yeah, Alex is great!
Great video Brian. Any tips for metering landscape photography?
thanks Dylan! Honestly, I'd highly recommend Nick Carver's course on it if you're really interested in getting into the nitty gritty details. Otherwise, there are some apps that probably work fine or maybe use a digital camera as a meter if you already have one.
Curious: The trail thru the snow looked like it had been used before your trip. Did you, or do you see any other hikers while in the High Country?
hmm, it was a while ago at this point, but I think I remember seeing a couple people coming down from the lake. The snow happened about a week previously, so there had definitely been a handful of hikers up there since then.
Hey Brian, 👍🏽👌🏼video... how recent is this? i m planning to be there around nov 11. little concerned about hiking with snow around... any tips/ Dos/don'ts ?
this was about 6 weeks ago. All that snow melted, but we've since gotten quite a bit up there. Very likely you'll want snowshoes or microspikes at the very least. Be careful out there. It's definitely more dangerous to hike in the mountains in the winter. I'd recommend more popular trails so that if anything happens you're not alone for very long. If you're talking about Colorado in general, I might recommend some hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park. They tend to be fairly well traveled and there's good information online about hiking them in the snow.
@@BrianLackey cool. thanks. are there any easier trails in this area that you recommend at this time of the year...?
Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park is beautiful and fairly easy.
