Same here, reminds me of my early 20s; being bored and broke and falling in love with heart breakers. Tears For Fears did a really beautiful cover of it
One of the things I absolutely love about Hot Chip is how they have so many arrangements and takes on all their songs. Every time I hear them live, it feels like every track is fresh and perfectly arranged for the situation. Boy From School is a great example and I can think of at least three versions (album, this, 2013 live version in Sydney on the Moshcam channel). They are all bangers and perfect in their own ways.
Saw them live the last time in something like 2010? They have been totally off the radar for me so this was really fun to see pop up in YT this morning!
Hot Chip!? What did we do to deserve this Tiny Desk performance!? Just superb. So much fun. I have to add: that steel guitar was such a great addition! I couldn’t have imagined it before it happened but it’s like it was meant to be in the arrangement.
I've been listening to them for years but I have never seen them live or even checked out a video. It was nice to finally put some faces and personalities with the sounds I've known for the past few decades. Let this be known for a band of any style, genre, etc., steel guitar is always a lovely add to any sound, keep it alive and well.
I once heard Over and Over and thought "this is terrible lol" but then for whatever reason, I gave it a second chance. It's now one of my absolute favorites.
awesome set! Hearing Boy From School with a pedal steel guitar was really nice. Fun to hear different arrangements with everything. Come to Philadelphia soon.
@@WewtBeer philly hot chip gang rise up ! i'm personally hoping for them to do full album sets in the next few years as their albums hit 20 year anniversaries.
First time I saw them was in Asheville, NC and it was the first time I’d heard them. I smiled all night! I was lucky to see them in Boston twice as well. Great shows!
dear NPR, i sincerely thank you for putting so many great artists on your platform and share with us. i couldnt imagine a world without you and all the great people involved. god bless you
Thanks for this!! So much nostalgia with the subtle organic version of their songs. Brings me back to my rebellious and struggling phase and electropop was a big part of my solace. ❤️❤️❤️ You’ll always be in my heart Hot Chip!
Feels like I should be listening to this on MySpace, whilst dressed in American Apparel before going out to see Joe spin at Greco Roman. What a time that was! For those who’ve not listened to the 2 Bears stuff, also worth checking out!
I adore Hot Chip!!! Was searching for other Tiny Desk performances this morning, and lo and behold, there they are!!! I am beyond thrilled! I love these guys.
Such a super great band. I've never had so much fun listening to such professional musicians at so many concerts. Actually, concerts are always better than the studio. Because they sound so versatile
I saw Hot Chip live in some kind of a warehouse concert near Philly probably…20 years ago? Just as epic now as then. I’ve only watched this 4 times so far tonight, singing every part. ❤️
I've never heard of you guys, but as a tech nerd I caught the subtle hints as to you guys are still using mostly original equipment you used at the time of recording. Good stuff!!
So happy to hear a track from "In Our Heads" - it's hands down one of my favorite albums of all time and in my opinion, their best :) This was a great set.
Been a fan of Hot Chip for 15+ years now and hope to someday see them live. They’ve made some of my favorite and absolutely weird music videos. Thanks for putting them on!
God, this is so amazing. These guys never fail to make me feel anything than better than I was feeling before I listened to them. @Hotchipofficial I love you.
Wonderful band! I really wish I could have this live version of "Over and Over" as a stand alone just to keep for my RUclips "Viddy Well" music playlist. The volume on this video is perfect, and I just love this specific arrangement, choice of synth sounds, and performance of that song. "Ready for the Floor" is so good as well.
Loved that everyone is wearing a different color 💖it's amazing how you make the songs sound so softhearted and playful. Beautiful version of Look At Where We Are ❤🩹
I got to see Hot Chip live in San Francisco back in 2010 or so. Talk about non stop dance party. They are so fun to watch live and you’re guaranteed a phenomenal experience.
I will never forget the most amazing concert I ever seen of Hot Chip in Chile at the Caupolican Theatre. wuaaaa best party, piscolas and dance during all the concert. Thanks @hotchipofficial for those unforgettable moments. Hope to see you soon again in Vancouver, Cananda.
Thanks for having us 🧡
Thanks for the entertainment ❤ that was blissful
Thanks for coming :)
So good!!!!! ❤❤
Great set, here since "the warning". And cool Rembrandt pullover Alexis!🎉
One of my all time favorite bands and what an amazing performance!
this is the most 'cool uncle' energy ever assembled in one place
thumbs up for me!
Yes, “cool uncle” energy is the greatest description.
Hot uncle 😅
The uncle you visit and ask; What are all the instruments for? Uncle; I'm in a band.
Ok, whatever you say uncle.
I was not expecting to start watching and see they have all aged the same as me!

Hot Chip, out of nowhere. Thanks NPR
Always out of nowhere. Forevermore.
❤🎉
Criminally underrated.
Legit one of the best bands for the last 20 years.
get teary-eyed everytime i listen to : boy from school ... hot chip soundtracks my youth in the happiest times
Relatable

Same but was in my late teens. So nostalgic
Amazing voice

The 2015 Glastonbury version is excellent as well
@@andrewfritz3673 I'll check it out, thanks

you might enjoy their version of the song from "bluedot 2019", also on youtube. it starts at 37:00. it's CRAZY good and might be my favourite version.
@@andrewfritz3673 That Glastonbury set was unreal
Whoever does the mixing for tiny desk is the real MVP.
Look up “Ready for the Floor”- Sydney moshcam. Huge crowd, great performance from Hot Chip. Crazy good mixing as well.

Thanks !!!!
This is why I keep listening to Tiny Desks after so many years. How else would I stumble on this gem.
What a jam !
One of my favorite bands to see live, over and over again.
Over and over and over and over?

Huge hit of nostalgia with a fresh arrangement. So much love for the cool dads of electro pop
I subconsciously called out to the universe in need of this and NPR delivered
Boy From School sounded amazing with the pedal steel. Beautiful arrangement.
I love how their music just glides. It doesn't need to smack you in the face. It just floats with you as you travel down the river. Thanks Hot Chip.
Tiny Desk never ceases to amaze me!!
They never cease to amaze us with their talent and creativity!❤
Facts! When I get in the office in the morning, I check for Tiny Desk before I check my email. LOL

Dude. Watch their pitchfork set. One of the best live performances i’ve ever seen
Oh yes.. I’ll give you laid back. Long time listener first time commenter; just wanted to say thanks to npr and the musicians
HOT CHIP ❤ been listening for like 15 years and still listen now 🎉 so good!
Look At Where We Are is me and my wife's wedding song. This live version is incredible, thank you!

Bro, these is the kind of things that I want for my life ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
There is nothing like a Hot chip concert. I have been to two and it was absolutely wonderful. Come back to the US. I have loved you since 2004.
gracias a NPR por regalarme el Tiny Desk que no sabía que necesitaba. Gracias a Hot Chip por tanta belleza.
First time hearing them... This is DOPE!! Ty Tiny Desk
Real technical musicians that have been playing FULL band electronic music FOR SO LONG. Plus...they first formed as kids🫠
I once heard Over and Over and thought "this is terrible lol" but then for whatever reason, I gave it a second chance. It's now one of my absolute favorites.
That slide guitar on Boy From School, so tasty!
Did you guys know that Hot Chip will break your legs, snap off your head & Hot Chip will put you down under the ground?
I wish they played the old stuff more.
Thing is in life if you don't take risks then what sort of life are you living?!
Waking up and seeing this made my day! Hot Chip is one of my favorite bands ❤😊
They are so great. I'm a new fan!
Hot Chip is so unique and should be appropriately cherished 😊
Love Alexis voice, this takes me back to when I first heard Made in the Dark, I loved them instantly.
awesome set! Hearing Boy From School with a pedal steel guitar was really nice. Fun to hear different arrangements with everything. Come to Philadelphia soon.
First thing I did after seeing they did a tiny desk set was see if they would be in Philly any time soon

"Look At Where We Are" sounds so gorgous!!
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

Man the slide guitar works so well, especially with RFTF. Long Live Hot Chip
How brilliant to see hot chip back to their stripped down lofi roots. The side guitar on boy from school is a perfect addition x

The reverse-merch story is really cool. I’m sure it’s not often that musicians make NPR staffers feel like rock stars
One of the best live acts...
Such a super great band. I've never had so much fun listening to such professional musicians at so many concerts. Actually, concerts are always better than the studio. Because they sound so versatile
Really good set. Very impressed with this.
Great pedal steel playing. Nice singing and arrangements.

This boy from school arrangement is so lovely!!!
