  • We take a short pause from our year long travels around Australia and take off from Cairns International Airport to fly into Tokyo, Japan and head straight for the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland!! What an amazing trip! Throughout this video, you will see the pure joy our toddler has in seeing the characters, riding the rides, and experiencing all the Disney magic for the very first time. You'll also see the very real side of travelling with a toddler in the heat (thanks Japan summer - mid 30s and high humidity every day!). We always like to keep it real in our videos and you will see the exhaustion that we face and the ways we combat the heat.
Other tips possibly not covered explicitly in this video for those travelling to Tokyo Disney:
    - take multiple bottles of water. Vending machines are available but often have a line
    - take a misting fan
    - if you can avoid the Japanese summer, then do so! Otherwise, be prepared to be very very hot
    - if you are bigger people like us, be prepared for chafe!!! Take bike shorts, anti-chafe cream etc! I don't care if this is TMI - if it saves someone, then it's worth it! The heat will affect your thighs!!!
    - utilise the Disney app (premier access was absolutely worth it for rides such as Beauty and the Beast - 2000 yen pp is so worth it rather than lining up for 100 minutes. If you're going to fly across the world, then an extra $20 is worth it in our opinion).
    - we kept getting rejected for show bookings. The only time we tried to select a later timed show, we got it immediately, so if this is happening to you then select a later timed show and you might just get it! We got the front row too!
    - get your wifi sorted before you head into the park! If you're and Australian and with Telstra like me, the only way I could get my wifi to work was to go into my iPhone settings - Mobile - Network Selection - and change this from Automatic and select a network yourself! The network that it automatically kept trying to connect me to wasn't working, so I worked my way through the list and it worked!
    - utilise single rider lines, especially if you're a parent with children who aren't tall enough/brave enough to do some rides. There's a couple that allow single riders to sneak through very quickly
    - if someone in your party has allergies (my toddler can't have dairy) then open up the Google Translate app (or screenshot it prior to going to the park if you don't have wifi... but I strongly recommend having wifi working, otherwise you will have to go to the front of the park for any app or wifi needs as there's only a very small window of free wifi in the park).. in the app I had typed in 'my child is allergic to milk' and when I would show that to the staff member, they would go and get an iPad where you can easily select allergen/s and see a list of foods available to you. Lifesaver! But be prepared that your options will be limited, so BYO if that will be an issue. I don't believe it's an issue for picky eaters though, as even kids have 'beige' options such as chips, rice etc.
    - sunscreen! It will sweat off so reapply more regularly than usual
    - rain forecast? Take a small wash cloth to wipe over seats/benches
    - don't want a huge crowd in the background of your photos of the castle? Do your castle photos straight away (and quickly, before taking advantage of the shorter lines as the beginning the day)
    - young child that might be afraid of things? Be cautious of the Beast at the beginning of the ride, he sort of 'growls' and it's dark, so maybe just cover ears/eyes/turn your child around. The rest of the ride they will not be scared like that, it's just the beginning scene before you actually board the teacup
    - if you want to take a picture of your photo from Monsters Inc, be VERY quick. They disappear off the screen very quickly (as you can see in our vid!)
    - if it's hot, escape into rides like Small World, where you will get lots of reprieve in the air con, or a show, or a food place. Our fave air con places were Queen of Hearts and Gaston's area as they were easily accessible
    - ask staff for a first visit sticker or first ride sticker!!!
    - meet Mickey/Minnie earlier in the day so kids/toddlers are happy and smiley! And so the adults are not dripping with sweat haha
    - do your shopping right at the end of the evening so you don't have to carry it all around
I'll have LOTS MORE HOT TIPS on next weeks' vid for DISNEY SEA and TOY STORY HOTEL!

Thank you!!! It’s a Mister Zimi! They are so great because once you work out your size and the styles that suit you, they have multiple patterns, so it’s easy to order online once you establish your faves 🤗
