There’s something in my eye… To say I’m looking forward to this is a huge understatement. This film touched an inner core of me that seems to be slowly ebbing away, but this jarred it fully awake again! ❤
I'm so happy I was able to see a preview of this documentary at the movie screening with Tami present in Munich and I can't wait for the finished product!
Had the distinct pleasure of meeting Noah for the first time this past weekend and chat with him for almost a good two hours and the stories this man has about his experience with this film, why he didn't appear for the second film etc. is heartbreaking but hearing him say that he does this because the movie means so many things to different people just shows you that he loves the people that look up to the film. I look forward to seeing more of this documentary.
I couldn’t understand Noah more. I was born with a brain injury. I had to literally learn what most people learn naturally from an early age on their own like walking, talking and moving and therefore I understand him and can relate to him in a way. Thank you so much! Yeah honestly I would of course loved to have chatted to him but the stories I’ve heard about child actors I can’t even begin to understand what he might have gone through to step back so much 😢
His parents were devout Scientologists who after he did Cocoon The Return sent Barrett into the Sea Org. He was actually separated from family to sea and brainwashed and abused. It wasn’t Hollywood it was Scientology and cruel parenting. He’s extremely introverted. And since NES is a Gnostic film that would compromise his position within “the church”
Given what happens to child actors, he was smart to step away and do something different with his life. All three of the kids did, actually. I liked those shots of him with Petersen... they obviously were fond of each other.
Hi Lisa. Gaz from Insanely Dangerous. We really appreciate you staying in touch and serving up slice after slice of retro awesomeness to leave us in state of stupified wonderment. Congratulations and wishing you all the best from everyone on the TIDRP team x
Another awesome job Lisa, thank you so much! Seeing the back story has given me a better understanding of movies I already love and I am so looking forward to seeing this one.
Barret Oliver, who played Bastian, was actually just as unrecognizable as Noah Hathaway... he had long hair, long beard, and was actually an authority on old-school photography. Tami might just say "I sat on a bed", but she was amazing it it, and those two boys were amazing as well. They made that movie what it was. I read the book, and i do agree that a lot of changes were made, but the book as written could not have been adapted into a film of any kind. Both were masterpieces, in their own way. And it's too mad Mr. Ende couldn't understand that.

That fascinates me that you could compare the German and American versions as a child - was that something you were really conscious of when watching both?
@@LifeAfterMoviesWebShow I didn’t watch the movie whilst we lived in Germany, that was 1982-1983 I read the book there, in German. Was a good exercise in actually reading German, until then I merely spoke it The book is very different compared to the movie, more layered a lot more explanation and a more gradual resolution and it actually combines both the movies into the same book. It therefor feel a lot darker and sinister as Bastian is losing his memories of his mother every time he does a wish to try and safe Phantasia. I think the movie adaptation was wonderful, though. And watching it as a kid I didn’t miss the “second part” although I found Atreyu finding Gmork by basically luck of the luck dragon a tad rushed as a kid. But other than that I loved it then and love it now. Sure Michael Ende didn’t like it, at all. And who cares Arteju isn’t green skinned - nor that Ariel is now dark skinned. I heard Michael Ende make a fuzz about that. I saw the German version later when we were back in NL, in 1986 or so on TV. The annoying thing is that they overdub it in German (ironically). And the voice actor who did Atreyu (or Artreju in Germany) was really high pitched and almost annoying - knowing Noah’s voice. The German version (or perhaps it was a for TV edit that I don’t know) is a bit longer. A bit slower paced , which for us Europeans at that time may have given a bit more tension build up. Certain words in German are more striking and meaningful. English is a relatively small language compared to German. They have a lot of small words that pack a lot of meaning but are hard to find a Dutch or English replacement for. For example Menschenkind means a human child or child. Bastian is referred to as Menschenkind the word Mensch (human) in addition to child has a deeper meaning in German. As to say a trustworthy untainted child. But those linguistic nuances is not something you’ll miss in the original (English) version.
I have to see this! They announced a Never Ending Story reboot just recently. Whatever they do I really hope they don't make it a CG fest like they did with The Thing reboot. Its practical effects were a huge part of its charm.

I almost have to wonder sometimes if having been injured so badly was a net benefit for Noah Hathaway if it kept him away from the Brat Pack, especially given that most of the guys who were adjacent to them and alive and well today went to public school in the Valley like Wil Wheaton (Crescenta High in Glendale) or in DiCaprio's case Marshall in not-yet-gentrified Los Feliz. Noah went to private school on the Westside (Lycee Francais de LA) which probably put him in the belly of the beast!
I’m currently waiting on the discs to arrive to me, so just shy of 2 weeks before blurays are shipped, and I’ve submitted to Amazon they just can’t tell me when it will go live, so I’ll announce when it’s up!

Had heard about Noahs onset accident with the horse years ago. Always wondered when the accident occurred as Noah obviously either fully recovered quick enough and was able to complete the film or the accident occurred near the end the filming when Noah had pretty much completed all his scenes. Hope to find out more. Also its too bad that Barrett Oliver wants nothing to do with his child acting days. He has never given interviews of any kind since leaving the business and little is known about his life other than he is into old school photography processes.
he does talk about it, i still have questions, but he does talk about it. and yes, it is a shame about Barret but from what people say about being in the industry as a kid, i'm not surprised he walked away. i can only imagine what he might have gone through.
Around April! Anyone who buys the BluRay off the website will get it as soon as I receive the copies, late March / early April. Then streaming April 6 pending a couple of film festivals im waiting to hear on 🥰
A box office hit has a tendency to be a never ending story. "Fast and Furious" becoming an almost annual event. "What happened to..." is a never ending story as well...
Unfortunate that Noah seems so jaded. I’m sure the accident was extremely traumatic, but he played a major role in a beloved classic. I think I would be a little more grateful if it were me, but I can’t put myself in his shoes.

I have to see this! They announced a Never Ending Story reboot just recently. Whatever they do I really hope they don't make it a CG fest like they did with The Thing reboot. Its practical effects were a huge part of its charm.
its out soon! Also, if you're in London then we are having a screening at Prince Charles Cinema on May 31st, Tami Stronach will be there too! tickets are on sale at www.neverendingfantasycon.com
@@LifeAfterMoviesWebShow Thanks!
I had such a huge crush on Tami as a kid that right after the movie the first time I immediately looked her up in the phone book so we could talk on the phone.
Never mind that she probably lived in a different city and was still a child at the time so she wouldn't even be listed. And I have no idea what I even would have spoken to her about if by some miracle I did manage to ever get her on the phone.
But at least I had some initiative at the time.
Sorry for the nostalgia. But your making of and this movie brought it out of me.
Thanks again for this documentary!
Where is Barrett Oliver ? 😢
If you watch the doc we explain
I was in love with this movie!

Damn. I want to see this!!
Thank you! It will be finished very soon 🥰
Looks really interesting didn't know any of the history from behind the movie, looks like it's going to have dark undertones and some of the sadness that was behind life after the navigator ,can't wait to see it.
Definitely a whole new slew of emotions in this one
We can't wait! This looks outstanding! ❤
🎉🎉 thank you!
This movie changed my life when I was 14 when the movie came out. As the book did too. I’m an illustrator because o the neverending story. The ivory tower image is the reason I started to illustrate fantasy landscapes.
i love this. i love how this film has impacted so many people. Me included. Where can i see your artwork!?
Wow lisa 😢😊❤ im so excited to surprise my son with his name in credits.. all the best xx

Superb, and Limahl’s involved too! I know had much trauma from making that movie.
he was our very first interview!
@@LifeAfterMoviesWebShow he was indeed, he enjoyed that.
He’s posted your promo ad on his official social media sites and I have too. This one will be another successful sell. Good luck you guys.

Did you manage to get the lead actor who played Bastian?
@@jokerfleckcast3196 Barrett Oliver?
When is this coming????

Magic. Looks awesome 👌
Thank you 😊
............ oh i need to watch this...............
Blurays available now from www.lifeaftermovies.com!!
So where's the teaser?
Hmmm
素晴らしい映画です✨❤
本当にそうだよ!
Hands down my favorite and best movie from my childhood❤. Are all the original characters going to be in it?
What is the total duration of this documentary? I'm planning to buy the BluRay.
91 and a bit minutes, with over an hour at least of bonus features too
@@LifeAfterMoviesWebShow thank you, that sounds great 👍🏼
I almost have to wonder sometimes if having been injured so badly was a net benefit for Noah Hathaway if it kept him away from the Brat Pack, especially given that most of the guys who were adjacent to them and alive and well today went to public school in the Valley like Wil Wheaton (Crescenta High in Glendale) or in DiCaprio's case Marshall in not-yet-gentrified Los Feliz. Noah went to private school on the Westside (Lycee Francais de LA) which probably put him in the belly of the beast!
one more question, will you also be adding signed BluRay editions by Noah and/or Tami in the shop later on?
I’ll definitely give the option for Tamis signature for sure ❤
I showed it to my kids when they were small and they’ve never recovered from the horse scene
Most people haven’t! 😂
When does this come out?
I’m currently waiting on the discs to arrive to me, so just shy of 2 weeks before blurays are shipped, and I’ve submitted to Amazon they just can’t tell me when it will go live, so I’ll announce when it’s up!
i wish there was more the two oh her songs other the two rare lp of her singing. wish there were more old interviews of them as kids. maybe one day the actors will go oh i found this old vhs tape of me & share them with the world .
Will Rockbitter be in it because I remember when he eats rocks and part of it he said they look like strong hands don't they .
the Rockbiter IS in it!
Can we order it Digitally ?
It will be on streaming at some point so watch this space :)
Movie traumatized me for life. But i love it soooo much. I cant wait to see the whole documentary.
ah thank you! Honestly i think it's a rite of passage to grow up in the 80s and be traumatised by kids films! ha
@@LifeAfterMoviesWebShow it was more real for me because as an equestrian in 2010 I lived the swamp experience. thankfully we both survived
I remember watching the Never ending Story movie at the King's Lynn Cinema,It a new Movie coming out this year for 2024,recording to google answers.......While no continuation or reboot of The NeverEnding Story is presently being made, it's worth noting that the original 1984 classic will return to theaters in July of 2024 for its 40th anniversary,So I be back to the same place 40 years later,At the King's Lynn Cinema
yes! And this doc is going to be released this year to time with the 40th anniversary too :) so much going on!
So 🫶😀looking forward 🥰🥰🥰✨🧡✨🌈
ah thank you!!
When is the documentary coming out?
later this year or early next year, we're just in final stages of post production :)
Ever read the book by Michael Ende?
I have! only recently though, i can see why it's so special to people, and the message is so poignant.
xoxo love the neverending story the one and the third :D
🥰🥰🥰
Someone help! How can I watch this!
You can get the region free blurays now from www.lifeaftermovies.com and also it will be on Amazon streaming soon, then expand to other streaming channels in a few months :)
No Barrett Oliver?
we discuss where he is now in the doc, he's incredibly private and completely shys away from hollywood and media.
I want to buy this in physical format ...
you can! You can order from www.lifeaftermovies.com/shop - ships end of the month!
can't wait to see this
thank you, out in a couple of months!
I looked everywhere and cant find a release date. Anyone know?
Around April! Anyone who buys the BluRay off the website will get it as soon as I receive the copies, late March / early April. Then streaming April 6 pending a couple of film festivals im waiting to hear on 🥰
@@LifeAfterMoviesWebShow appreciate you.
Where can I see this ?
its out early next year - updates will be shared here
our falkor and artax props are in this
Ah from the comic con!?
A box office hit has a tendency to be a never ending story. "Fast and Furious" becoming an almost annual event. "What happened to..." is a never ending story as well...
I hope they put that on tubi.
it will be on streaming for sure, i'll post details when i know specifics!
I never knew that he was hurt.
not many people did
In previous interviews Noah was sweet and humble. Sad he’s unhinged and using foul language like that
He had let his guard down so the real him came through
Unfortunate that Noah seems so jaded. I’m sure the accident was extremely traumatic, but he played a major role in a beloved classic. I think I would be a little more grateful if it were me, but I can’t put myself in his shoes.
Yeah it so hard to know what people really go through, I can’t imagine what it must be like to have such fame and pressure at such a young age
I can't believe this tattooed-up, filthy speaking man was the lead in this great movie. What the heck happened to him?
life
Of course the main kid can't be bothered...
It’s not about being “bothered”. He doesn’t have to, he’s very private now and we address it in the documentary
@@LifeAfterMoviesWebShow nah it is indeed about that, no matter how "private" he is now. Not sure why you're making apologies on his behalf, but I guess I'll wait for the doc.
Bed Wetters watch this crap😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
well done.
what a weirdo perversion. . .
This is soooooooo amazing Lisa and Team, brings back many treasured memories watching this in my teens, and look forward to the full documentary 🎉🫶
Thanks so much! Looking forward to sharing it with everyone!
