Our son is playing the guitar and our daughter who is singing was diagnosed at 4 with Systemic Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and at 11 diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I got some potentially devastating news about three months ago, this has been the most difficult time in my life by far. I know no human could survive pain this without God and it turns out that I have never felt so blessed by him through responses to my prayer and encouragement and support he gives me through others. A friend recommended this song to me-thank you Laura-it has a lot of meaning to me. I know my life will be better because of this trial.
I've always felt a deep connection to this song and never understood it. Last year in 2016 my father passed away after having a massive heart attack. A few days later this song came on and I had to pull over because I was weeping. Not to share another "this song got me through xzy story" but it really did. Every time I hear it I remember the pain I went through to stand there at the hospital and watch my own father die. But never before in my entire life had I ever felt God so close to me than when my father died. The pain reminds us heart that this is not our home... the tears I cried were truly healing.
God doesn't CAUSE bad things to happen to us, but he does ALLOW them to happen, even if we are walking with Him. The Bible also says that He redeems for good that which was was meant for evil (Gen. 50:20). I LOVE that! Many things that have happened in my life were meant for evil and God has or is transforming them for my ultimate good and His glory. I choose to continue to believe that he will turn the pain into a blessing because he hasproven so many times before.
I wonder if its just hard to sing it live? I mean, the inspiration for the song alone would make it hard. I just sing it at home and tear up everytime. This song got me through one of the hardest years of my 33 lived. Powerful song.

It takes such strength to even try to humble ourselves and offer up our tears in communion as music, as Laura does here. To do so publicly with such touching grace and talent is a marvel. This record of the flow of energy from God, through His dense physical human instrument, and back to God to complete the cycle is a priceless treasure.

I have been on a roller coaster ride with my 17 year old daughter. She has been depressed for over a year. She has been in at least 5. Nothing has worked. I know that God is there He has never left us. I know one day I will see His blessings for us.
i was going through a hard time with my uncle todayand this song just reminds me that we will suffer for Christ and that our suffering will in the end benefit our ministry to others and ourselves. We will gain perserverance and longsuffering through our pain, so we should rejoice in our suffering because it proclaims the glory of God through it to others. Be glad fellow Christian brothers and sisters. Rejoice, you will partake of the glory in heaven because you partook of the suffering now!

I ask myself, "How could i ever thank God enough for being there for me and giving me such a God loving and caring family that each and every one of them is always there for me?" And for my healing from my tumor when i was a baby! Thank you God for healing me and giving me 2 wonderful brothers whose arms to run right into the day i got back from the hospital.
