It's sad that people are dismissive of TV from the 50's and 60's, and only believe truly intelligent and powerful TV shows came around with the advent of unfiltered, uncensored cable programs. Great TV existed long before that.
Hopefully, television viewers have fond recollections of Rod Serling, the screenwriter and playwright that Klugman is discussing. The American Masters series did a wonderful biographical study about Serling several years ago, with clips from The Twilight Zone as well as Requiem For a Heavyweight, Patterns and the other shows with which he was affiliated. A masterful writer who died prematurely as a result of complications from heart surgery.
Other then his throat issues, he looks GREAT for his Age... Like we could just go back to the Quincy set.. And I could walk over to his desk put an apple on it before going to sit down at my desk, where I turn around and put my feet up on my desk, because of the implication of how easy learning is for me, knowing with confidence that I am the best at what I do!
Teach me Oh Great One, All that you know! Welcome back Quincy, I wait for you with the apple in my hand sitting in the chair on the right side of the room in the classroom pictured in my head! Cheers!
Of course after the rest of the students come into the room and get settled, he sees that I am relaxing too much.. lol and he thinks and THIS is the One that gave me the apple? And he walks over nice and cool always composed after all this is Quincy we are talking about! And he takes his hand sweeps my feet off the desk and says. "You might be an adult and know how smart you are, but you are in MY Classroom, and in here I AM the TEACHER and you are THE STUDENT, Understood?" Said with HIS smile!
Both of them aware of the other ones reputation, they build their relationship as it grows throughout the coming episodes and work they do together in character. LOL I luv to stick my feet up on the desk, because outside of Quincy's Classroom at work I know I am the best, In turn Quincy Love's being able to throw my feet off the desk! The class room after awhile get's the point of our relationship, and pretty much all enjoy coming along for the ride, learning from what HE AND I DO BEST!
One of my favorite actors ever.I really loved him in T-Zone!
RIP Jack,a Philly legend never to be forgotten.

Joey Crown, one of the all time best Twilight Zone characters, and also Pip's father from the other one Klugman was in. Adios, king.
