A lot of welders, guys and gals included could have welded this with no problem. The most impressive part of the whole thing was the guy that took off the end cap with a cut off wheel and made the perfect fit up.

I do this for a living in Philly. But on a much smaller scale. And on natural gas pipelines not water. Crazy job. But well worth it with a good team.!!!!
It's also a natural gas pipeline. In Russia they colored in yellow.

So how did they get the valve back off again while the line is still hot?
Inserted a plug through the valve and locked it in place bellow the flange before the valve was removed.
Why don't they use any shoring to prevent cave ins when working in confined space?

Надписи НА БЕРЛИН. Держак из арматуры, посиделки на трубе, вся эта движуха показывает какое распездяйство у нас в стране.
Организации на троечку. Техника безопасности хромает. Секции ограждения висят, сидение на трубе, трезубец из арматуры вместо держака... Позабавило обращение с болтами и шестигранником. А если внутрь упадёт? Кстати, краска серая явно положена прямо на ржавый голый металл, уже рыжики полезли.
Конечно, это не работяги виноваты, а руководство, производитель и разработчик монтируемой арматуры.
