In my day, you didn't have a debit card to use for groceries. We had paper food stamps. As a child, it was embarrassing to go to the store for my mom or with my mom. It was like being in a spotlight with those food stamps. I swore to myself that I would never ever be on food stamps when I grew up. I might not be wealthy now, but I'm not on welfare. Bring back that food stamp booklet and see how many children will want to grow up and work to not have to deal with the embarrassment of food stamps.
