Good video mate coming from a Dons supporter Got a bit of a soft spot for the blues i think both our clubs for a long time have been controlled by the coterie groups and bad administration. Hoping to see both our clubs get out of it and back on the up i know theres a bit of banter here and there but sometimes the best footy chats are with rival supporters. Hoping for some good clashes against you guys in 2025 all the best
I was told about a 15 years ago that there were a few people in high places at the Club that felt the biggest threat to Carlton making money, playing finals and winning its next flag was a large chunk of the membership base. A wall was slowly built and members went from owners of the club to consumers. They were SCARED of challenges by what they called “outsiders” to board positions etc. They pushed to change the constitution so that emergency General meetings became very difficult to trigger by ordinary members. The shifting of the AGM to just before the start of the following season and closed training sessions are all part of the wall built to separate members AND THEIR CONCERNS from the players and club officials. It was different when I grew up living walking distance from Princes Park. I felt part of the club and officials and players would often stop and have lengthy conversations with fans at training sessions. Some very heated arguments- but respect was there and love for the navy blue jumper and players was at the core. It was a community. The Blues are the worst at it today when they were the best in the past. The Club was never SCARED of its members. Players didnt need security - we were the security. I sometimes watch the Bulldogs train and the atmosphere reminds me of the past at Princes Park.
Hey Petra , never guess who , but ,we had them on toast when a series of deceitful Narcissistic, sycophantic Abrogators of responsibility have put CARLTON so far back , it's a criminal deed ,done by the past , we need to move on and all be together, United Together We'll Never Be Defeated. @@Ducatirati Agree....but our club still has an iron wall erected between members and its decisions makers - even between players and fans. They're scared - and it has shown in the club's performances. Turned the corner a little bit under Voss, but the challenges facing the coach are not entirely Football related in my opinion. It will need to come from the playing group and my connection is with the players - we should rally around them when they are trying their best. and they should expect criticism if they show mediocrity or disinterest. Love it. Send our boys down to Brunswick Street for a training run - can't fence us out that way - and my old Fitzroy ghosts with come out to play - Bunton, Smallhorn & Ryan - three Brownlow medalists in the one side - 'build it, they will come'
It is a bloody joke. 100% agree. Every school holidays I want to go down with my daughter, live bayside so it's a bit of a hike. So I email the club first, never open for training. The closed trainings should be the exception not the norm.
Absolute spot on Bucky! Our club do not allow people to go watch training! I mean we are the coughers who put money into that club, so they should allow us access to training!
Could not agree more Bucky. Its all about fencing us off like a mob of sheep then letting us out so we buy the merch in the Carlton shop. I also remember the days of just rocking up to training and feeling part of the club.
