It doesn't matter if Trump is just doing that to blow smoke up their asses, a majority of Trump supporters now believe Ukraine is the enemy, or at least that we serve to gain nothing from defending Ukraine. Which is objectively false.
Billions in aid/ days of war/ number of taxpayers roughly comes up to $1.18 per day. If 90% of my $1.18 stays in US for newer, better, more advanced military including the jobs for the American workers. What kind of a person has a problem with spending $0.12 a day or $5 a year to save a life? Ukrainians are paying a much higher price than American taxpayers. Ukraine needs our help not only financially, Ukraine needs to know that the good people in this world still care!

Don't forget, early voting starts soon in various cities and states. The earlier you vote the less clogged up election day will be. Check your local websites for dates and more information. I personally like to vote early so I don't have to think about it until after the election. I sleep better that way. It's also nice for people that don't want to stand in line for whatever reason. Health or too busy at work, etc. Please tell your representatives how important it is to make election day a national holiday so all But essential services will have the day off so true democracy can happen
I have lived in Washington State since 2012 and there are no polls. All elections are by mail. A very different America. Wonderful not to stand in any lines and safely vote.

Trump is right on one thing, President Zelensky is good at sales. As a Philadelphia Native he reminds me of a certain famous Philadelphian who was wise, determined, tough, great with motivating others. Benjamin Franklin aside from inspiring and advising Colonial leaders and Citizens worked very hard to gain supplies, money, weapons, training and other support from various powers in Europe in the struggle against England. Ben never had to deal with inspecting genocide in Bucha or destroyed schools or hospitals but he would relate to what President Zelensky is working for and fighting for. I cannot help but feel that many great American Historical figures would embrace and applaud President Zelensky, Washington, Franklin, Marshall,Nimitz, the Roosevelt's, JFK and Reagan to name a few. President Zelensky to me has more in common with them than Trump, Gabbard, RFK,Jr and a number of others who claim to support the ideals of this Nation but seem all to willing to ignore those values and ideals. Everyone talks like Russia has just suddenly started being imperialistic and thus they must be emulating Hitler and Mussolini. Their imperialism is homegrown and deep-rooted, not something they recently borrowed from Germany or Italy. If you actually know what fascism and National Socialism entailed in terms of general policy, both fiscal and social, you know Putin's current regime subscribes to neither ideology. People just use the term "fascist" as a synonym for "tyrannical", without knowing anything about the specific ideology espoused in Origins and Doctrine of Fascism by Giovanni Gentile. Russian imperialism is driven by a much more formless, opaque ideology, not one expressed in a written form like in the aforementioned Origins and Doctrine and Mein Kampf. I would say "neo-Sovietism" would be a decent term to use for this revanchist ideology. Putin is not a communist, but he is a Soviet, and he's trying to rebuild the old empire, and even reshaping the economy into something of a state capitalist command economy. The USSR never actually was communist, it wasn't some stateless worker's utopia where everyone was equal, it was an authoritarian empire in which workers were serfs, and if they got in trouble, they were used for slave labor. I'm not a Marxist, but I know enough Marxist theory to know that the USSR is not what Marx was envisioning as either a communist society or a socialist "dictatorship of the proletariat", because that would imply rule by soviets (parliaments, basically) made up of working class men and women. Putin longs for the power of the Soviet Union at the peak of its influence in the 1950s and 60s. I would say he is something of a Krushchevite: not quite as brutal as Stalin, but not as liberal as someone like Gorbachev or Yeltsin. Appointing a former KGB agent and head of the FSB to leader of the country was a very poor choice for a fledgling democracy.

Russia is slowly dying ass a whole financially, the longer it goes on the more chance for internal disruption which has already started. If USA approves long range weapon use, there is a small risk of escalation, Russia is suffering more and more by the day.
Russia can still trade with Asia and Africa so its not defeated completely via sanctions from the West or they would have capitulated already. I do think the western sanctions has done a lot of damage in key areas like air travel, banking system, etc. The question is is it enough to stop Putin?

Also, there’s is an extended package & it doesn’t include all that much military aid. Biden’s delivering a lump sum of primarily military aid while he still has the authority to do so.

Jake, would there be an avenue whereby Ukraine could negatively impact Russia’s international nuclear missile forces without actually attacking the missile sites themselves? e. g. destroy food and fuel depots that support the personnel, destroy rail lines that support such, destroy training facilities, or similar things which would reduce their readiness without direct attacks on the missiles? Anything which reduces the ability of Russia to threaten the West would be valuable.
