Who Killed The BIGGEST LAND ANIMALS - Wooly Mammoths?

  • About 3700 years ago, the last wooly mammoths on Earth were making their last stand on a remote Arctic island. Wooly mammoths!! These mammoths were the most commonly found animals during the last Ice-age. They were living their life similar to that of modern day elephants but in a much-much colder and harsher environment! But after some time... their number started to decline and 4,000 years ago they went completely extinct!! So what really happened?? Who actually killed them?? What was the actual reason - climate change or the appearance of humans in the Arctic?? Let’s find out…

Great video! It evoked a mix of awe and nostalgia, albeit with a touch of discomfort, particularly for someone like me, deeply connected to Lord Ganesha in Hinduism. Considering Shankar God's association with icy Kailash (reminiscent of the woolly mammoth's habitat), the grafting of an elephant's head could easily be envisioned as a mammoth's. Imagining Lord Ganesha with a woolly mammoth's head and body adds a whole new dimension to the myth.
Setting mythology aside, it's compelling to think about honoring these majestic creatures with monuments on Wrangle Island and various Arctic locations. The prospect of resurrecting a mammoth from ancient DNA is a thrilling idea that holds immense fascination.

Mammoths were never the largest land animals. All kinds of those large herbivores were the largest at their specific times. And with that Mammoths were not so big. For comparison if we take a Columbian Mammoth which is the largest recorded Mammoth species weighed around 10-12 metric tons which is almost as same as the largest ever African Bush Elephant discovered. The largest of the Elephantidae's were the Paleoxodon Namadicus. It was the largest ever Elephant that was found in the Indian Sub Continent. The average weight of this beast was around 22 metric tons! It was bigger than most dinosaurs.
Woolly Mammoths are quite overrated and most people think that it's bigger than all modern Elephants and the largest too. But Woolly Mammoth weighed around the same as the African Bush Elephant or could be smaller. They went extinct during the last ice age.
