I actually just realised the way they were building the match between taker and john in 2018 was quite similar to this.
Just for future reference if you ever watch the other "How WWE Should Have Booked" videos, generally you should watch them in the order they were released. Since most of them are about story lines that happen at about the same time.

dude, reliving old memories and having a very small knowledge of what's going on nowadays brought me to this vid on my recomandations. and thinking back to the attitude era. wwe is on the down and out, much more for ppl like me that have been out for so long than ppl that have bothered during the pg era. i checked in here and there, dx's revisit was done horribly. none of the panache existed then.
one thing i learned, is that i'm glad i never got back into it. because after hearing of the ending of the streak and how much shit it was, i was ready to walk away from those old fond memories.
you sir, have given me a reason not to. yeah we cant expect anything from wwe or mcmahon, but watching this reminded me of old school days, talking about the latest matches, trading vcr tapes from the guys in school that could afford to get the ppv's.
will i watch it? no. but its nice to look back and feel like i'm not alone having those convo's i did in school and knowing others still remember the good ol days of how pro wrestling was at it's height

Taker basically gets to book that match... has gotten pretty much FULL creative control (or at least veto opportunity on everything).
I HIGHLY doubt that Mark would've let Cena break it. I think in HIS mind, the only person that should break his streak should be a 'legitimate' fighter.
My theory is that in Takers' mind, the fact that a UFC fighter broke his streak actually makes the Undertaker character more legitimate.
Let me say that I personally disagree with the logic behind that thinking from his perspective, because the concept is just too 'meta' and breaks kayfaybe in a way.
BUT we all know Mark ADORES MMA fighting, and we all know the real 'setup' to this match (at least in his mind I think) happened at a UFC event where they had a weird 'confrontation' of sorts (It's on RUclips, look it up)
So therefore, I think Brock was the ONLY guy that he would have given the win to anyway..... In fact, I think that contrary to what Meltzer 'interpreted' fro the situation, Taker might have come up with this match and finish himself. Vince is a VERY smart man.... and while wrestling sucks now, he's still making good money, and knows the business. I think Vince knows that the way they did it actually wasn't good for the WWE....but I think he just let Mark have his moment, because as we all know, there is NO greater, more respected wrestler than him....
+FurryFerris Actually no... the Undertaker was willing to drop it after WM 20 (he even offered to drop it to Randy Orton, but Orton declined out of respect for Taker). Undertaker had a say in it, sure, but ultimately it was up to Vince and the writing staff.

After Wrestlemania I would book John Cena EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. He comes out, he's smiling, he's every inch the "white meat babyface" he always was, but now he's happily congratulating Undertaker on a great match, and humbly admitting that it was a close one but he managed to pull through with the same hustle that he's always-etc, etc. Don't change his character a bit. Make bad jokes, talk about effort and the best man winning and all that noise, right to everyone's face while they sit there knowing what he did.
I can't think of a way to make him a hotter heel.

don't know if it's been mentioned in the comments below already, but another reason why Cena could've been 'the one to end the streak' is because, after Cena's debut against Kurt Angle which he lost, Taker shook hands with Cena backstage and welcomed him to the WW(F at that time?)E. Close the circle, so to speak...

In retrospect Brock really was the right person to do it...well besides punk...I always thought he would have gotten it had it not been for bearers death...John cena was the last person who needed the streak so I was happy that match never happened cause there's no way that backlash would have faded away like it has with Brock

Like, I'd be legit concerned for the man's life that some whacko fan would take it seriously and might try to harm him. But that is real heel heat.
As far as Brock being the right person, I mean we did get a good pay off with Summer Slam and Royal Rumble but, like the guy said, just have him not lose and he's just as intimidating a monster.
Damian Clark I agree with the guy in the video. Brock is already a monster and he didn't need to beat the streak. It should be the one who needs it the most. And a John Cena heel turn? That would be at the level of Hogan turning heel at WCW. That guy must be hired as the WWE head writer.
Diane Blake You know, if WWE actually planned their shit out like 6 to 12 months instead of seemingly doing this shit ppv to ppv, then I agree that Brock didn't need it as they could of just had him not lose. But let's say they did hire him after that Elimination Chamber, and said they wanted to build up Brock as a Monster, is there a better way at that point than to beat the Undertaker?

I'll add to what Mr What Culture WWE said and tell you what I would use as heel Cena's theme song which would play after the victory over Undertaker. Which is Hero by Pop Evil. Also instead of a pin fall victory after the chair shots, Cena locks on his STFU and wins by submission and unveils his new slogan " Just Give Up"
