I mean, doing the model assembly, you maybe missed an opportunity to be like, "I used my hobby knife to clean up the model -" Outback Dave cuts in, "That's not a hobby knife...." (Pulls out huge Bowie knife) "THAT'S a hobby knife" Or something. 😁
neon paints are great for making a color pop. take for example a pink gem, you've highlighted it up to pure white but it still lacks that pizzaz that you are looking for. just add a thin filtter of neon pink over the whole thing and it wil amplify the color beatifully. i also will often mix a fluor orange in while highlighting red so that it really kicks you in the teeth. neon paint are cool for glow effects yes, but when you start to think outside the box they become so much more versitile and a great tool to have in your painting arsenal.
I literally started collecting Seraphon mini's to build my Space Lizard army 4 days ago, been looking everywhere for painting tips and today I see this video pop up. I really felt like the Lizardmen/Seraphon were these under appreciated mini's that were only created to extend the warhammer universe. So it's rare to find good videos on them. Love it
I, for one, accept all prehistoric creatures into my space army 😂 Also! on the whole neon fluorescing under UV thing- lots of plants actually look super different (and v vibrant!) under UV because some pollinators (mostly insects) actually can see into UV wavelengths of light. So maybe that could be a fun mechanic to play with in a game, like a variant on darkvision or an environment puzzle.
Undercoat the neon paint with white, this allows it to pop as neon paints tend to fade unless thick or over white. Getting the white into crevices can be made easier by using a wash. I mad one with white oil paint and refined mineral spirits. Worked great for my "Undead Space Cyborgs". With crevices like that you can wipe the neon into them and then clean off the excess easily.
Remember, nothing is pointless if you enjoy it. I can easily see these paints working for your personal showcase models with the cool glow effects mixed with a black light in a case. Nice thing I have learned about 3D printing, it's cheap enough to have both a show model and gaming model. Might pick some up to work along side GSW's UV glow resin to really pop out Skaven Warpfire Thrower teams come alive.
Fluorescent paints have all the covering power of milk, so if you want them to pop, paint them over white. Painting them over a dark wash like that is just asking for pain.
I’ve had some great success using neon paint by first painting in white. For me, it has been worth the effort to repaint the neon parts white first before applying the neon (yes, even the teeny tiny pin lines). Thats been my trick to make the neon pop without the black light (because, honestly, who has a black light in their display case). These guys were rad - thanks for sharing.
When Dave goes super Australian I automatically believe everything he said. I want some how to survive in the outback/bush crafting videos next. One Page Rule is a must if you have a 3D Printer if you don't then get a 3D printer and OPR.
actually it is not a mastodon as that is defined as "a large extinct elephant-like mammal of the Miocene to Pleistocene epochs, having teeth of a relatively primitive form and number."
Neon paints are awesome, and I love using them, especially for cyberpunk models. Five Parsecs from Home, any of the multitude of cyberpunk D&D reskins or just the actual Cyberpunk tabletop game. Neon detailing on models for any cyberpunk game really just makes the fit the theme and stand out on the tabletop
Love the finished thing! As a tip... Had you used some white oil-paint pin-wash before the neon-paints, and it would have really looked shiny even under "non-black" light... Or in case you are not a bee.
You said you used a texture paste called dark earth for the bases, would that be the Vallejo texture paste? I have been looking for examples of that one being used
I showed all these facts to my gecko, and he concurred. It's all true and all happened as shown and as beautifully edited! These are some of the coolest models I've seen in a long time! I love reptiles! The riders don't blend into the dinos as I would have thought!
Thank you for extoling the virtues of a hot water bath for support removal. It's so hard to get across how much of a game changer it is without actually showing it.
So we got Ocker Jazza and now we get Ocker Dave? Love it. Just also want to say, I love how Jenn has come out of her shell since TTT was revamped. It's awesome :)
Australians are the only group of people that can make shorts look cool. I have this image in my mind of a parody of Pokémon where someone starts out as a mall ninja. depending upon which Stone you give them they will either turn into an outback adventure, historical sword enthusiast, or Rambo. I think Dave is partway through his transformation.
Most outstanding historical documentary/painting minis FACTUAL informatory PSA Ever!!!! BTW I do intend to switch all lights at my FLGS to black light now!
What kind of setup do you have with your 3d printer? I cant seem to get my supports to come off so easily and some of the details always go missing during the print. Could it be the resin or the slicing software?

Question what brand are the neon fluorescent paints? I'm considering making a few of my own
I love it how Jen is barely keeping it together when Dave goes full Steve Irwin/Alan Grant.

DIMETROSAUR. Love the OneyPlays reference. OPR models are also some of the best out there.

Agreed I feel like they should have a more important role in the story as they are really cool
I, for one, accept all prehistoric creatures into my space army 😂

That... is really cool.

Those neons are super bright if you put down a coat of a good flat white paint first. Great through an airbrush for OSL as well .
I vote Outback Dave goes walkabout for a protracted series of videos. Maybe even a whole spin off channel.
I’ve been wanting to do neon dinosaurs. This is a good starting point for me. Also Dave’s Dino facts are all true.
This was great, I love videos with Jen and Dave in them.
Love every one of these videos! They are what brought me back into the hobby
This is the second time I've seen these from one page rules and now I must have them!
dont feel old dave i was born in the 2000's and i had handmedown VHSs.
Fluorescent paints have all the covering power of milk, so if you want them to pop, paint them over white. Painting them over a dark wash like that is just asking for pain.
I'm a big fan of the one page rules minis and yours look great! Loving the needler type guns too
I love the silliness in between the seriously great painting.
The dinosaurs look epic
The contrast between Jen and Outback Dave makes the whole video so much funnier.
Love space dinos, too

Video two of commenting that Jazza should create the Thunderbear Cavalry

Oh my Triassic period, they look AWESOME!!!!!!! I do hope to see more in the future, see you next time. :D

That was so much fun! I love Dave and Jen vids!
I think the green wash was a great choice. The tinge of green definitely gives a reflecting-lush-foliage vibe
I'm old enough not only collect the toys but also watch the cartoon. I loved the trex and brontosaurus
“Space dinosaur’s” -whispering Jenn
Love the finished thing! As a tip... Had you used some white oil-paint pin-wash before the neon-paints, and it would have really looked shiny even under "non-black" light... Or in case you are not a bee.
My favorite video from your channel so far!
More Outback Dave please and his amazing history lessons.
Dave gets more and more ridiculous with his each new video that comes out and I love it.
"so I ended up going over all dave's hard work, in a green instead of a yellow" OHHH JENN! it did turn out cool anyways 🤣
You said you used a texture paste called dark earth for the bases, would that be the Vallejo texture paste? I have been looking for examples of that one being used

Love the Dave and Jen energy. So cute!
Needz moar dinosaur rave parties 🤣🤣🤣
The look on Jen's face at the end...😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
[whispers] space dinosaurs.... LOL! Y'all are the best. Y'all are my faves.
Also, neon orange, green, and yellow are literally my favorite colors.
YALL! A painting competition with UV paint/lights would be awesome!!!
I learned so much about Australia's rich dino history. Thank you so much for the excellent video. 💯
Thank you for extoling the virtues of a hot water bath for support removal. It's so hard to get across how much of a game changer it is without actually showing it.

Aussie Dave is just *chefs kiss*
Love the neon. Give me the idea of doing a night time neon themed battle! black lights everywhere
This is great! But when do we get to see a OPR battlereport!
The storytelling was amazing 👌
Great video really enjoyed the entire production.
Australians are the only group of people that can make shorts look cool.

Just finished watching Jazza sharpening his pencil ✏
😆😆✏
Me rocking a blacklight lined Tablewar case:
I can always show off Fluor paint jobs.
I need more history lessons with Dave!!!!
love Fluor Paints.
painting my Necrons with them :D
weird worlds colliding with the oneyplays deep cut
Most outstanding historical documentary/painting minis FACTUAL informatory PSA Ever!!!! BTW I do intend to switch all lights at my FLGS to black light now!
I love you two. I know you’ve put a ring on it just marry her already Dave!!!
we know Dave is wearing that hat for the lols but seriously, that hat suits
What kind of setup do you have with your 3d printer? I cant seem to get my supports to come off so easily and some of the details always go missing during the print. Could it be the resin or the slicing software?
Awesome design!
Neon paints would be fun for a Necromunda table with a built in UV light
Whats with the 70s softcore sounds when primeing?
Ayo it do be glowing!!
MORE SERAPHON. YES. EVERYONE SHALL BUY THEM
Amazing, feel so inspired but I've got nothing to paint!
As an aspiring paleontologist this is amazing whilst hurting my soul
I want more episodes of Outback Dave's history channel lol
I'll second that!
fluoro paints really need an undercoat of white to stand out, otherwise the effect is really muted (great for OSL though)
More history! MOAR! I need to learn the s'truth!
I love it Dave!!!🤣🤣🤣👍
The miniatures reminds me of the Triceratons from TMNT.
OPR saurian starhost are so cool
>rambling about Victoria history
Ned Kelly diorama when?
Lol just reuse the venosaur diaroma. And I wonder if Jen is happy with out back Dave hahahaha
Crickey...
More Outback Dave Please!
More Outback Dave please 😂
The inbetweens are so stupid. I LOVE IT :D
Best video to date
Don't tell me that neon paints aren't awesome. You're breaking my heart 💔 models look awesome!!
cool format :D
French Jazza, Outback Dave… wonder what’s next.
fantastic content
What music at 2:25
When are you gonna do a genestealer cult vid lol love your work!!👍
Please can we have more outback dave. easily my new fav character in the TTTCU
can we get some of the outtakes where Jenn can't keep a straight face?
Pro tip. If you're painting something gold. Prime it with red first. Trust me
More OneyPlays references please
that does not look like the metal band Mastodon
The first five seconds of this were violently Australian
Very Ausi vid, real goofy, I will say the neon paints were super underwhelming.
sorry gotta side with dave on this one, head crest, long tail, and no fur. def a Dino not mastodon
I would like Outback Dave to give skewed absurd takes based on real Australian history. Like it sorta starts correct then goes off the rails.
45 secs ago. Oh go on then 👏
Lizards are sexy according to BDG
Please tell me the mastodon thing is a joke? They were real mammals, and their similarity to this thing begins and ends at "has tusks".
Just further proving that 3d printer and games like One Page Rules is the way to go. Vs GW business model for books and minis.
