Thank you so much for this video! I've had low pressure in my sink for a week, and now it's running again perfectly thanks to you making this video. It saved me the time of contacting my manager and having him send someone to look at it!
I just googled "how to fix water pressure in my sink" and your video popped right up. I had already tried turning the water valves, since I recently replaced my sink hose. By following your easy instructions, I fixed it! My husband was more of the "fix-it guy" at our house, and it has been my role since he passed away. Every contractor I've used since has disappeared halfway or ripped me off; I'm not knowledgeable and stupid-nice, so I try do as much as I can by myself. Thank goodness for videos like yours that can make a beginner like me learn how to do this myself! Thank you so much for uploading this video 2 years ago! You made a difference today!
I've put off this issue for over a year. I thought it was going to be a major plumbing issue I couldn't afford. Saw your vid and wala! Such a simple fix I wish I knew about this earlier. Thank you very much!
Mike, thanks for this helpful video. But I would like to point out that the other 2 primary causes for low water pressure are due to calcification or lime deposits in the water line connection points under the sink and the same deposit build-up in the valve stems just below the valve handles. If someone tries the fix you've shown and still has low water pressure, then these other 2 points should be inspected. Most kitchen, bath & other sink faucets all have plastic valves stems. Many water lines also have plastic seals. Both of these are magnets for calcium & lime deposits to start building up. I've often had to remove the valve stems & seen these large deposits. The deposits can be removed by soaking the valve stems OR water line connections in either CLR or vinegar. CLR, a mild acid works faster than vinegar. Maybe you can do a video showing people how easy it is to remove the faucet handle valve stems and/or water lines. Both can be done with an adjustable Cresent wrench that opens to at least 1.5 to 2 inches. Thanks for this video & the opportunity to add some helpful advice. Best2U Always
"Maybe you can do a video showing people how easy it is to remove the faucet handle valve stems and/or water lines." Yes, this is where I am. I'll have to find a video that shows that.
Under 5 minutes, easy to follow, ACTUALLY WORKS!!! What more could you ask for 🙏🙏🙏 thank you so much. My sink has had awful water pressure for about 4 years now. You saved me
I had essentially no water in my bathroom sink for over a year, because I thought I had to replace the shutoff valves (which were both also definitely broken). Finally got around to replacing the valves today and still had no pressure. Watched your video, fixed in minutes. Thanks
Thank you doesn’t even begin to express the gratitude! I saved over $100 and canceled my plumbing appointment fixing the sink myself after watching this!
You made my day. I wanted to move from this house because of the low water pressure. I assumed it was because they kept building so many house around but then I googled it today as I thought maybe I needed to replace the hoses and then discovered all my taps were dirty from my water softener just fixed all 4 in my house thank you so much.
Thank you so much! My bathroom faucet is only a couple years old and just never thought to check. I was going to have to call a plummer. You saved me at least a $100 maintenance call!
Greetings, It is my first Time, Thank you for the Advice,,,, I'm gonna try it your Way First, I've Only had this installed A year/ Half ago, so I'm gonna try your Way first.
wow Thanks for making me look like a Super dad! Came back home after 4 days being away for work and family pointed out this problem in our bathroom faucet. Watched your video and 3 minutes later... Problem was fixed! Thank you, thank you!
Thank you very much for this video. Kitchen sink started to have very low water pressure but the little hose next to it was doing just fine. Followed everything you said on your video and it's back to normal. Thank you!
appreciate you making this vid in the style you did. i was washing my hands and heard and saw an immediate reduction in pressure which definitely had me worried. when you showed your faucet "with the issue" and "after" it was the exact same as the issue i had in mine. thank you for this vid!
did exactly what you did. There were little rocks blocking it. Now it works like normal, where as before my water pressure was exactly like yours at the beginning of the videos. Thank you!
Thank you very much! I was afraid that I might have a major plumbing issue that would require a plumber, but thanx to you I fixed it quickly & easily! The inside of my aerator was different than yours. I had to open up all the little pieces before I could get to the debris that was trapped inside a lil white plastic piece, but it didn't take long. Thanx 😊
Thanks a bunch, Mike ! I am mechanically challenged, and I had no problems following your instructions ! 🙂 I even worked on one of my bathroom faucets after fixing the one in the kitchen.
Maan, thanks a million for this life-saving video. I just fixed three faucets in my house that had trickling pressure, and now the pressure in all three faucets is so high that I have to gauge them. Thanks a million!!!
Thank, Mike! I wasn't taught this stuff growing up. (Let's just say I don't come from a DIY family.) So it's definitely a shot in the arm that I was able to fix my sink myself...with the help of your video!
Installed a new vanity and faucet a few months ago; the pressure was awful from the start and just kept getting worse. Thanks to your video I just found a huge chunk of...I don’t even know...plastic maybe? wedged in the aerator. Problem solved!
Thank you for making this video! I was so worried that it would be something big like the pipes but I followed your instructions and now my faucet is just like new
Thank you so much! I'm having a water birth in a few months and the faucet I'm attaching the hose to isn't flowing as quickly as it used to. This was perfect!
You also could have just soaked your aerator in CLR or vinegar for 2 hours. Some new aerators for the brand name faucets can cost from $10 to $15+. All the deposits will dissolve when soaked in CLR or vinegar and rinsed thoroughly.
Thank you, I cleaned the tap filter but that didn't work but your suggestion on taking the pipe off I was not aware there was a filter on the bottom end of the pipe and that was blocked. Thanks again.
I tried this and didn't see any of the debris or any blockage. I then put the parts back in place and turned the water on. Bam, I had normal water flow again. Thanks so much for this video👍🏾
Great video. I had plumbers offer to change 4 aerators in my house for $700. You can buy each one for like $10 and do this instead. BTW some faucets are not as easy as the one shown. Mine are super difficult to open.
Thats a like & subscribed ding, thank you so much.. as a visual learner all i needed to do was make sure the water valves were on which they were, unscrewed the aerator, and wham water pressure.. currently got it sitting in CLR now and I can see the descaling happen in real time, if it doesn't work when I put it back on I'll just go to home hardware and get a new set and do the downstairs as well. THANKS! 😆
I wish you would have shown the supply line and the supply valve because I have not dealt with those for any reason and you explain things so well. I have cleaned and replaced aerators. It's the "under the hood" stuff that is a mystery. :)
Putting a new aerator on did not solve the low pressure which is not horrible, but lower than other faucets in the house. I have a handyman, I just like to know this kind of basic stuff. :)
This worked so well for you. Did not work for my kitchen sink. There was the same stuff in my aerator but sink is still only a trickle. I looked under and can not find the supply line. I am not going to put my entire head under there though because it seems to be invaded by many big spiders. We don't go under the sink like ever so there's webs everywhere. Wish my apartment management would just fix this already.
LOL-yes sink cabinets can be a little sketchy! I think the next step would be to troubleshoot the valves and supply lines. At a minimum make sure the valves are opened fully
@@MikeKlimek as far as I can tell the valves are fully open. I'll have to continue to hound maintenance to come take a look at the supply line. Thank you for the reply.
I just installed a new faucet in my bathroom sink. And I’ve got the same problem with water pressure. I tested all the valves and the water flow before the faucet was connected and I had plenty of pressure. Now that I have put the faucet back on and connected everything I’m getting the same kind of water pressure as you were in this video. So I took the aerator out and check that and remember this is a brand new faucet and I still got low flow. I really like this faucet the design and everything and the way it looks with my new vanity but I’m pulling my hair out trying to figure out what is causing low flow on this faucet. It is not designed to be low flow. And the unit itself has really good reviews online where I purchased it from. please give me other possibilities. Thx.
So you tested the water pressure before the faucet was installed and all is good. Your problem certainly lies with the faucet, and if not the aerator, then it's the cartridges in the faucet. Low pressure in hot or cold side? Replace that cartridge. Low pressure in both hot and cold then replace the faucet
Okay so I just did this in my apartment and little black rocks came out of it, I removed the plastic screen and water flow is up 1000% thank you!!!!!!!
Love the cool hack with the towel trick. I never understand why the filter is needed where you later wash the debris down the sink to unclog the faucet. I have removed mine
Yes removing the filter which has, very small holes is a good idea so won't clog up easily in the future .....however the filter is there for a purpose to prevent small particles in the water when you are washing up ....but I guess you can live with that
I hope you can help me out. My bathroom is the only faucet in the whole house that is doing this. It's pretty much a trickle at this point, but when I remove the aerator from the faucet the pressure/flow is fantastic! Both the cold and the hot just like your video too, so I already eliminate the issue being with the valves correct? Since once the aerator is removed the pressure is great. I've tried cleaning the aerator but it doesn't help. The moment I screw it back on, the pressure is non existent again. What can I do?
OK Aline your problem is the aerator! You can either soak it in a product like CLR or take it to the hardware store and get a replacement. They sell different universal aerators so that they fit nearly all faucets.
Hey Mike, this video helped fix my issue somewhat until I noticed something, theres a very very small plastic ring that goes in between one of the pieces inside of the aerator. Removing this very small plastic ring increases my water output by that much. Would it be bad to keep that plastic ring temoved?
Don’t know if you’ll see this because it’s been a year, but thank you!! My daughters sink has been giving us fits upstairs. Flows great now. Ours has a little screen inside I had to take out and discard. There was no way to get that sediment out. Even after a vinegar bath.
Our hot doesn't have great flow did replace with new faucet same issue. It is in line w upstairs faucet which you do not want to turn on full as it has really great pressure hot or cold. I did have to increase temp allowance in shower. But pressure wont even allow on demand heater to kick in sink.
So the problem isn't your faucet. First make sure the water supply valve is opened fully. If nothing changes, then turn it off and remove the supply line from the faucet. Point the supply line in a bucket and turn the valve on. My guess is that the water flow will be poor. You are probably looking at replacing the water supply valve, the water supply line, or both!

So you tested the water pressure before the faucet was installed and all is good. Your problem certainly lies with the faucet, and if not the aerator, then it's the cartridges in the faucet. No-so long as it doesn't leak. Sounds like you may have removed a restrictor.
Don’t know if you’ll see this because it’s been a year, but thank you!! My daughters sink has been giving us fits upstairs. Flows great now. Ours has a little screen inside I had to take out and discard. There was no way to get that sediment out. Even after a vinegar bath.
