    You have a lovely Dorper Ram there. I have a farm in St. Ann and would love to get about 3 graded up Dorper ewes. Please let me know if you or another sheep farmer can supply. Thanks in advance

    Can you tell us about the Jamaican St. Elizabeth Sheep. I don't think a lot of persons know that Jamaica has its own native sheep just like Barbados have the black belly

      I have tried to get information on the breed but seems quite obscure, even on government pages. We don’t value what is ours (my opinion).

      So damm true and it's so sad. Imagine we have our very OWN variety which is much tougher than the Barbadian breed and absolutely NOTHING is being done by the government to establish a core heard and preserve their genetics and save the breed from extinction.I too have tried to get information from the net and found nothing from the government pages,

      @@jonaelie9464 what’s your opinion of the black belly, research says they grow slower. I want to get into rearing so I am doing my research from early.

    Why do you think sheep production is so slow to increase in Jamaica despite the high demand for mutton?

    • @toomuchdebt5669
      @toomuchdebt5669 3 года назад

      No access to grazing land, meat import subsidies, lack of import tarrifs, feed expensive, THIEVES, TAXES, roaming dog population, fencing cost, availability of good genetics..... and bad mind.

    So, why do they let the wool goes to waste? Instead of having it falling off the sheep, shear them, and sell the wool. Wool is very expensive.

    • @estherelson9473
      @estherelson9473 2 года назад +1

      Who would they sell the wool to?

    • @quailjailss
      @quailjailss Год назад

      Wool isn’t expensive though. There’s no real market for wool anymore… beside that these are hair sheep, which have very poor quality wool. You can’t make anything out of it worth selling
