I am a Nigerian based in Europe. I am in tears watching this woman speaks. I can’t imagine what our ancestors went through as they were taking away from their families to a land of no return. I must add that this woman has Ghanaian DNA in her. Looking at her face, you will see Ghanaian in her.
I just learned a little bit about her when she contested to be the presidential candidate. She definitely has the spirit of Yaa Asantewaa when she was talking about where they derive their emotional powers as Asantes even far back in Colombia.
H.E. Marquez welcome to your ancestral home. She is definitely a Ghanaian with her beautiful dark chocolate color just like one of our sisters. And you could feel the emotional touch as she delivers her remarks with sense of joy and belonging. I also support the suggestion by Kojo Danso that Otumfuo should reserve huge piece of land for our brothers and sisters who intend to call Ghana and Africa ancestral home. That will give them sense of pride and also exemplify our humane nature as Africans. Because for us as Africans, our strength comes through our existence as one community, instead of the focus of modern day false narration of individual self.
I’ve been thinking about this for the past 2 years. Asante is a very powerful name within the diaspora and invokes so much pride. It would be monumental for the Asante Kingdom to take all the necessary steps to set aside large piece of land to invite back the diaspora. Someone would say why. The diaspora will bring the skills, money, and assist Ghana advance so much faster. At the basic level, when they come back and start building their homes, many Ghanaians will get employment in construction services including shops and supplies. When the diaspora start opening businesses, many Ghanaians will again gain employment and skills. Asebu is already benefiting from giving the diaspora 5,000 acres. For Asantehene to do even a bigger one will be monumental and a game changer.
@@dadoboye1536 Ghana doesn't need the resources of the diaspora. If anything the diaspora needs African countries more than Africans need the diaspora. The point is Africans both sides of the Atlantic are financially and organizationally dysfunctional and unless that dysfunctionality is fixed no side will be able to help each side as well as it can. Due to Africa's brain drain the number of skilled Africans working in the West probably exceeds the number of native diasporans, something becoming more obvious as in the US for instance native Black Americans complain about Africans taking up places they feel should be reserved for them.

@@kojojampa Fantastic idea. One thing Otumfuo must do is have one day in the year set aside to organize a durbar to interact and connect with pupils and students in the region. That singular act will teach the kids so many things as they grow up to want to learn more about their culture and also give them confidence to take on postures of our forebearers. At the function, they can narrate the heroic efforts of the likes of Barima Tweneboa Koduah, Nana Yaa Asantewaa, etc. just to inculcate into them the need to uphold our traditional values and also become more petriotic as good citizens.
