About:
What matters most? Family, of course! Over its nine hit seasons, Family Matters brings us a hilarious slice of middle-class Americana -- along with one of TV's wackiest characters, nerdy genius Steve Urkel. The extended Winslow family redefines the word "togetherness" as their home splits at the seams with chaos, confusion and laughter. - Развлечения
The irony is that Reginald Vel Johnson has no children in real life yet he was one of the greatest TV Dads. He was a father figure to so many 90’s children who didn’t have one. He showed what a great father and police officer is supposed to be. He taught us to be responsible, loving, and taught us the importance of using good judgment. Carl Winslow will always be a part of our childhoods. ❤
Super real talk..
Makes me believe and think maybe this is what his father was like in some ways
That’s why us 80s/90s kids lived through the best generation!
Uhhhhnnnn stop itttttt
@@emekaosuagwu6416 It’s the truth. You wouldn’t know if you didn’t grow up in the 90’s.
That James Avery "Uncle Phil" guest appearance was iconic...
During the end credits
RIP uncle Phil 😢
6:38, the meeting of the two best black fathers on 90s television.
Rob Paulsen told me that James Avery had a heart of gold. I always wished that I could have met him.
R.I.P James Avery
You know Rob Paulsen?
@JamesSmith-jq6om Not personally. I met him at Comic Con about 6 months ago.
We talked about the TMNT for a minute, but to cut the story short, I asked him what it was like working with James. He said James was one of the best people he ever had the honor of working with. He said he was a big guy. 6'3, 320 pounds, but just had an absolute heart of gold. He also said that during the filming of The Fresh Prince, in between takes, he would talk to the audience in his Shredder voice, and the people loved it.
@@KRS2000 lucky
Two classic dads on the same set absolutely magical!!!
Both were famous in their sitcoms as TV Dads.
*James Avery walks in*
Me: Ladies and gentlemen.... The Shedder! 😂😂
Reginald Vel Johnson and Jo Marie Peyton had amazing chemistry together as Carl and Harriet. Specifically, I always found their dynamic funny when Harriet would somehow make fun of him, usually something about his weight or eating, but then there was also a little bit of affection snuck in.
This show hits different without Jaleel and his antics
Without Urkel, this show doesn't last. The very casting of Jaleel White saved the show from an early demise.
Based on Reginald Vel Johnson you'd never knew he was Gay and didn't even have any kids in real life. Great actor
@@Paul-wu7xd Reginald VelJohnson never married. As for him being gay, it's a rumor that has long been squashed.
Well they did play the Winslows in Different Strangers, thats where the characters came from.
“3,2,1 1,2,3 what the heck is bothering me? *looks at Steve* 3,2,1 1,2,3 what the HECK is bothering ME? *looks at Steve one last time* 3,2,1, 1,2,3 WHAT THE HECK IS BOTHERING ME!”😂😂😂he almost blew a fuse with Steve lol
LOL that was my mom's favorite scene of any tv show
@@Cluez31 I can see why! It's hilarious XD!
I love that episode!🎉
He absolutely blows a fuse.
Because he IMMEDIATELY follows it with "YOU!!!!!", goes ballistic and nearly had a heart attack.
We need more TV dads like Carl Winslow and Uncle Phil than ever before!
Carl gave his treatment to Eddie, and now Harriet is giving a taste of his own medicine.
He fathered his own son and then gets mothered by his own wife 😂
Seeing Reginald Vel Johnson and James Avery together makes me wish there was a "Family Matters/Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" crossover. Maybe have Will and Eddie get into trouble over something, Steve and Carlton bonding and Carl and Phil having to rein in the chaos.
Lol Ashley and Laura would be friends and the supportive, take no nonsense women in Vivian and Harriette.
Little Ritchie would be bugging Ashley all the time.
Jazz and Waldo would be good friends.
Eddie trying to romance Hillary 😂
@@luedanger561 And Hillary rejecting Eddie for being broke
Reginald Vel Johnson and James Avery on the same screen, EPIC!!!!!!!!
during the end credits
I got a kick out of the fact Carl's initials spell out COW 😆
Lol... That's crazy.
How did I never realize that. Why have they never made a joke about that?!
Classic TV Dad
of my early life
I'm amazed carl didnt have a stroke from stress steve brings sometimes
Or from the stress his kids, mostly Eddie, brought on him as well.
He had a mild heart attack in that garage episode. He went to attack Steve and his heart started to give out.
80s and 90s forever
Definitely with radios, beepers, payphones, and newspapers.
2 of the best tv dads in the same set.
Reginald was a real tv dad to all the kids that time, i really believed in his words
Same here and this was my favorite show growing up.
Reginald veljohnson is forever special to all of us. One of the epic TV dads that is everything and whats shocking is he is not a dad in real life. He does not have children of his own.
He would have been a wonderful father and grandfather!

@2:08 - he will always be Captain Terell from Star Trek to me … and the chief from the first Terminator lol
"Give me a cigarette!" (there's one in his mouth already) lol
8:00 ...that arm yank and HUG 🫂 😢 😭 ❤
3:16 This is Paul Winfield in this scene. The first time I ever saw Darius McCrary (Eddie) in anything was in a 1987 movie called Big Shots. He was only 10 when they shot it. It was his first movie credit and he starred in that movie along side Paul Winfield who played a supporting role. I didn't remember this episode, but that's a cool reunion for them to have.
Paul went on to do epic movies too.
Paul is a great actor ❤
He was also in 227 so many other great stuff.
Carl Winslow was one of the greatest TV dads of my generation. It was also cool to see Reginald VelJohnson in those Progressive TV Dad commercials where he played a character simply known as TV Dad. I think there are too many good moments from Carl. These were just part of it.
That is an emotional episode when paul winfield shows up at the Winslow house.
7:05 -- The thing that I've always found crazy with this scene, is that when you think about it, Carl literally had two opportunities to arrest Eddie for under-aged drinking, and didn't do it. We could only imagine how doing so would have affect both Carl and Eddie, let alone the entire family. I can only imagine how cops handle it, in arresting their own kids, let alone a loved one, for the same thing.
Carl Winslow will always be one of the greatest 80s TV fathers.
The last scene made me cry 😭😭😭😭
Man all of a sudden I went from Urkel to Carl real fast. Hits different now.
Man i miss those days ! Watching TV with both parents may MOM AND DAD rest in peace
Sorry for your loss
. &&&& This is back when parents actually sat down and talk to there kids and love ones about the problems and issues ... Now folks will run to the internet and talk about you . . . . . 😬❤️💯
Carl and Harriette Winslow ™️ are the 👍 greatest TV 📺 parents ever to grace the black sitcoms, period.
If yall seen the genuine hug between two tv daddies but are real best friends that came up together in the past when they were broke trying to get discovered
The legendary paul winfield who was in the Terminator and other films.
2:36 the cops from die hard and terminator
Uncle Phil and Reginald. Yessss ❤❤❤❤❤
These scenes are awesome
Awwwww uncle phil and carl❤❤❤❤❤
It’s ironic, the character is a great father. The actor is childless. He’d be a great father
Love this video the meeting of the two best black family on 90s television,, imagine holding the laugh lol 🤣🤣🤣, 🤣🤣🤣, best TV dad's ever!!! Carl Winslow all American dad wish I had a dad like that,, miss this show good times,, I love family matters, my wife and kids, family matters, fresh prince home improvement,, fresh prince was funnier, family matters was to chessy kinda like full house
Best spin-off to Die Hard ever!😂
Sometimes you got to break a 4th wall and have somebody from NBC coming onto ABC for a friendly get together.
Reginald VelJohnson, ladies and gentlemen!
Lol family matters growing on me
NGL this was my favorite sitcoms from the 90s. Something about it drew me in, and I don't know why. Wasn't Boy Meets World, Fresh Prince, and ESCPECIALLY Full House.
I remember this show used to be part of the TGIF lineup, along with Perfect Strangers and a couple of other shows.
Step By Step, Full House, & Hanging With Mr. Cooper
@@markasflood8196 Man...All three of those shows reminds me of just how old I am.
Best TV dad ever !!!
Diddy love 😅😅
Him, Danny Tanner, Homer Simpson, and Uncle Phil are my favorite TV Dads, bar none
Homer Simpson as the cartoon dad.
I love this.
6:38 Mr. Peanutbutter: WHAT IS THIS!?! CROSSOVER EPISODE!?!
"Carl Otis Winslow" So his nickname would be... "COW."
Warner Bros. We need more shows like this. My childhood was filled with great family shows. Family Matters, Fresh Prince, Cosby Show, Full House, Step by Step, Home Improvement. We just don't see shows like this much anymore. Lets bring some old school back.
The Eddie Drinking Episode is one of the best TV Sitcom episodes ever
We hate when Eddie decides to drink.
That's what Isetta! 4:48
Nice job
Rip Paul Winfield ❤
5:03 lol you can see the pole that controlled the car
Harriette ALWAYS GETS HIM, THOUGH...
Carl Winslow all American dad wish I had a dad like that
Classic!
Carl is scary when he's angry
and so is uncle phil
Miss this show, good times.
Good times like always
Now those cars r called scions lol
Carl was like a father figure to me if I grew up in a black household. Teaching you to be responsible, knowing right from wrong, and making the right decisions.
Doesn't really matter the color, he was a good father figure all around. I really like Harriet too, my mother was horrible and it was nice seeing strong but loving mothers on TV.
Now that I look at this, the relationship between Steve Urkel and Carl Winslow is low-key a mirror of Will and Uncle Phil's relationship.
Carl even cared for Urkel, who wasn’t even his son. I think that Steve pretty much occupied the Winslow home because his own home life was dreadful. His parents were probably rarely home, and when they were it was a roommates-who-despise-one-another like relationship for the three of them.
He was a good tv dad
James Avery was a big man
I like family matters
This makes me feel confident to be a father, but I still feel nervous about being a father.
Can we have a Family Still Matters sequel pls
I'm surprised they haven't done it yet.
Yes! We need this!!
I doubt it. The show would have Eddie or Laura’s kids pondering their sexuality and Eddie or Laura would be like “if you want to cut you penis off, it’s ok.”
All Hollywood!! In that Era we wanted to leave the house
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
My wife and kids ,family matters ,fresh prince, home improvement
This show had some great moments 🚬😶🌫️🍺🥃🃏 just some 🥴
I'm so glad I've never ever drink because if i was drunk in mama house she would have me thrown out and wouldn't care afterwards
Harriet needs to say so little to be emotionally charged be it heart warming heart breaking or hilarious
Larua Winshow
Classic... Times have changed smh
#DisneyDiva ❤
👀😳😳👀
Yup you dad right n it mikemakebthings worst
Family members year fox4 today 2024 😢 3:03
Carl never calls him "Ed or Eddie." Always "Edward". My own parents hardly ever calls me "Chris" always "Christopher" even now at 44 and out of the house 20+ years
Amber
Had to stop at the 5:00 mark. I loved family matters but hated the Steve urkel show featuring the Winslows… that’s what it should have been called
Honestly, some of the earlier seasons were more enjoyable before it became the Urkel show. It was funny when he was in it and all, but they started straying away from the heart of the show for ratings...I mean, c'mon the Urkel dance?? Even when I was 10 that was just cringe
Fresh prince was funnier. Family matters was to cheesy kinda like full house.
Family Matters and Fresh Prince both were dope.
I didn't have a dad growing up. I don't get it. I love my kids something fierce. My boy sat and watched stupid videos on youtube with me for a solid 3 hours yesterday.
Carl Winslow is a lousy TV dad. That progressive commercial starring him as “your TV dad” makes me glad I don’t use progressive for insurance and besides, what does Reginald know? He’s not even a father in real life.
1:27 imagine holding the laugh... lol
