- A routine drive takes a deadly turn when a log truck sets off a catastrophic chain reaction
ABOUT FINAL DESTINATION 2
Locked away by her own choice in the perceived safety of a psychiatric hospital, the lone survivor from Final Destination lives in constant terror that Death is coming to claim her. She may be considered crazy, but she's not wrong. Death is moving toward suburban Route 23, heading south in Final Destination 2.
Meanwhile, en route to a weekend getaway with her friends, Kimberly Corman (A.J. COOK) has a terrible premonition ... Shocked into action, Kimberly blocks traffic on a highway onramp. Drivers honk and complain--until Death tears up the highway in a massive pile-up, with those left on the onramp narrowly escaping with their lives. But Kimberly knows it's not over: Death won't be cheated so easily. Now this random group of strangers, who were all meant to die in the freeway disaster, must join Kimberly in a desperate attempt to stay alive.

For those who never watched Final Destination before: this is the most merciful Final Destination incident.
That's right, I'm still not over the scene where the mechanic was almost slammed through the fence right in front of the main character
*I always thought it was the closing credits*
but its the most memorable/relatable since its the most common everyday situation for all of us vehicle, road, transportation and/or travel, all you need is some random truck hauling logs and you'll remember. its effect still shows in a couple of generations

While driving a campervan I could see the brand name on the grille of the log truck behind me.
It read "AC"
That was all I could see as the bastard was tailgating me that closely.
When i could pull away from him it was, of course, a Mack.....
Even when empty log jockeys are dangerous as they get paid by the load...
the more loads in a day the better the pay.
Employers have some responsibility in this...
After this movie I stay as far away from log trucks as I can once I spot them

@@JohnSmith-pl2bk Increasing risk to drivers and the motoring public with strategies that incentivize higher productivity is basically the cornerstone of all trucking.
The loggers and dump trucks race for another load.
The long haul guy can't afford to pull over and sleep because he'll miss the appointment.
The day-cab driver is racing to make sure the company doesn't give his route to somebody else that they feel would do it better.
The flat-bed driver decided putting on the right chains would take too long and he's paid by the mile like the long haul driver is.
And every damn one of them skipped their pre-trip inspection.
The fact that they're advertising the new movie on the back of log trucks is insane.
it's creative as fuck
They know what they did (scare everyone off of tailgaiting for the rest of their lives)
Well they were gonna use a plane for advertising, it was definitely the best choice
I swear, people who are involved in horror movies have to be the most creative people on earth 😄
it’s not actually log trucks lol, they put fake logs on top of trucks and put ads for the new movie on the trucks.
The fact that most of this was done with practical effects is INSANE and why this scene looks so good! Real cars crashing and flipping driven by stunt drivers! Screw CGI crap! I miss practical effects! Especially in horror and sci-fi films!
I think they shot it twice one with the accident and then another time without it
The special and practical effects in this movie are so ahead of it's time it's insane
The first one shot with logs comes off the "log-carrier" was made with Thinking Particles plugin. Thats all i know, cause i was wondering about that plugin in that time.
yes screw safefty...gotta risk people's life for your entertainment while we cpuld achieve the same results with cgi..cown ahh, not to mention majority of it like the explosions and logs crashing around was CGI
Notice every car had it windows down like all 4 fully down including the cars just passing and the ones in between like all the cars not one had there windows up
I love how every car blows up like a Bob-omb when touched.
I guess the movie car industry builds all their stock out of unrefined explodium.
I thought the same.
I was half expecting to see someone survive in a car that is complete intact, get out, and then rest their hand on the top only for it to explode like a nuke.
That is kind of funny one of the cars just get scraped by a log and explodes. (Edit) did expect this to blow up 😳
And they’re not even Ford Pintos 🤭
Guys, you must consider that this movie is from 2003.
My kids are always asking why I speed past log trucks on the highway and i told them "this one movie really messed with everyone in my generation.
Jaws with wood!
But now you have to worry if that log truck can stop in time in Winter on snowy winter roads without the logs falling off but the truck and trailer turning sideways and sliding and taking out vehicles as it does...
Despite how futile it was in the end (as with any Final Destination movie) I admire how Kimberly blocked off everyone instead of driving off, trying to help as many people as she could.
Well her action caused the dead of other drivers that were not supposed to die. So that could pissed off death seriously.
That also happened in other movies too. The protagonists, instead of saving themselves only, chose to save others as well.
It is not real you know just a film
The first one was good because we didn't know what to expect, after that they were a waste of time because you knew everyone except one person would die, just like all the other slasher films.
@@WickedPrince3D The whole point of these movies is to see _how_ they'll die next. Not if.
Everyone who watched this developed a lifelong fear of logging trucks.
Ain’t that the truth
Yeah I agree, I agree
Not just logs, even those gas trucks scares me
I will always change lanes to avoid traveling behind them, specifically because of this scene lol
Indeed 😩
There's a lot I appreciate about this opening scene. From movie making stuff, like how a lot of this is done with practical effects which I think adds a lot to the weight and spectacle of the scene. To the "commentary" on unsafe driving as we have a ton of people building up the disaster by being really reckless and careless while driving that can (and have) lead to real world tragedy, things to be mindful of while driving. To our main character demonstrating early in the film she has a "hero spirit", even if it gets her in trouble, upsets her friends, the people around her, she isn't passive and actively blocks everyone else from driving past her realizing all of their lives are in danger and choosing to put saving lives over what others will think of her. It's honestly just a great opening sequence to the second Final Destination movie.
Makes it more satisfying as well that shes canonically the only Protagonist to not just survive her movie, but to legitimately get uncursed.
Almost all other characters in the series are so passive, like "oh no, my best friend just died. Anyway..."
Amen amen!!!!
Because of this film, no one drivees behind a logging truck.
As a trucker of 5 years, I concur. I see them, and I switch lanes. lol. Logging trucks are now the new fuel tankers: highly respected.
I have been uncomfortable driving behind, in front or beside a truck of any kind. This was long before I found the Final Destination franchise. I don't need a thriller to tell me what I already know.
AT ALL!!!
It's literally common sense
True
This was my favorite final destination movie because not everyone died. Kimberly had the time to block the road, and saved everyone but her friends and some people who weren’t meant to be in the accident. She was a true hero
She try to save everyone but no one listen what she says
Same mine too, Unlike wendy, she just kept silent the entire movie, though the movie was great.
every fd movie does this, the main character gets a premonition about him and others tragic disasters, tries to warn the others, and they don't listen until the disaster happens.
Part two is always the greatest one just see Terminator
@@amenbest9641 Well maybe if she'd been a bit more proactive and useful than just blurting out "I saw it, I saw it! It just happened!"
It's amazing to me that these films, while mostly fairly campy for horror movies, also managed to make probably the greatest scene in all of horror movie history.
Watching this movie has taught me that large vehicles NEVER have any sense of “maybe I should try using my brakes or steering wheel to avoid hitting that guy.”
About ten years ago, I was driving and a UPS tractor trailer crossed over me abruptly. Top of my car got attached to the bottom of his trailer. Ripped my car in half. I was entirely okay, thankfully, but I still remember first thing that happened was the driver hopped out and said, "What, you didn't see me?!"
Fool you literally drove over me and I was blaring my horn.
have u thought about how much more damage and death will occur when those large trailers skid and slide after applying abrupt braking or emergency swerving?
Trucks can't stop on a dime.
TRUCKS WITH LARGE LOADS LIKE LOGS IF THEY, HIT THE BREAKS THOSE LOGS GO FLYING FOWARDS INTO THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK STILL CAUSING A HUGE ACCIDENT
For real. Just look at the accident near Williams, AZ this month. Two jack-knifed big rigs on the freeway in a snow storm. All the vehicles involved burned for about 12 hours. And about 10 days after the accident, they found THREE more fatalities, a week and a half later!
I'm not just afraid of log trucks because of this movie. I'm afraid of water bottles, pregnancy, and weed.
Me too. Not cocaine though 😂
No kidding! Every time I see a logging truck in front of me, I speed up and go around just because of this movie.
You forgot lidless coffee cups!!
Don't forget about dumbass blonde friends telling to to screw the basic car maintenance and keep rolling.
Ah, if you mix two of those together: you get pregnant...
This is still such a well-done, effective, anxiety-inducing piece of filmmaking. Especially the way it's sequenced and how they actually shot this entire segment. The chain reaction of events has caused people to stay far and clear from logging trucks, trucks carrying long oil and drainage pipes. It makes them automatically think of this movie.
This actually happened to my mom and sister. In summer of '88, they drove from Texas to Michigan, to visit some of my mom's family. They got as far as Missouri, when they found themselves behind a logging truck. Granted, the logs it was carrying weren't nearly as big in diameter. Most about 12" to 18" in diameter. And not all of them were as long as the trailer hauling them. Sure enough, one of the chains securing the logs came loose, and they started to fall off the trailer. They don't bounce like they did in the movie. My sister was driving and was far enough back. But, these logs just fell on the road so fast, my sister didn't have time to stop completely, and other cars and trucks kept her from navigating around them. So, they slammed into one and managed to get over it. What made some logs airborn, were a few semi's that drove over them and kicked them up in the air. Before my sister could put the car in the ditch, a log hit the roof of their car, causing the windshield to crack. There were about 10-15 cars involved, which either got damaged by hitting the logs or hitting each other. No one was seriously injured, luckily. But, there were enough damaged vehicles that couldn't be driven, including my mom and sister's car. When they went over a log, it tore up the undercarriage, piercing the oil pan.
It was a big old mess. My sister took some photos with her camera, just to document what all they had been through, and to have photos for the insurance company. Like other vehicles, they had to be towed to the next town, which was actually a decent sized town with several mechanics' garages. They were able to get a new oil pan ordered and had to spend the night, while the shop installed the new one. Of course, when they had the chance, they called my dad and I and told us all that happened. They were quite shaken up, as there was really no time to react as it happened. Everyone was very lucky.
The ironic thing. In the movie, there's the mom and her teenage son, that are driving the tan Ford Pinto. That's the exact model Pinto my mom and sister were driving, except it was a dark metallic brown color. So, the first time I ever saw this movie, it automatically made me think of what my mom and sister had gone through. I told them about the sequence in this movie. My sister can't do horror movies of any kind. But, my mom decided to watch this sequence. And some 25 years after that happened to them, my mom could barely watch it, as it brought back such horrific memories. And of course, what happens in the movie certainly doesn't help. But, she said that's kind of how it felt when it happened to them. That they almost could've taken this incident that happened, aired on the news, and decided to use it as a way for all of these people to die. Or survive, only to die later.
Here in Texas, you don't see logging trucks. But, you see a lot of trucks hauling long steel pipes. And you immediately want to stay very far behind them, or just pass them and leave them far back in your rear view mirror.
It's definitely made people look at logging trucks in a very different light!
A pregnant woman driving, hot coffee next to a keyboard, a guy's drinking while driving, another guy's doing drugs while driving, a boy pretending to make toy cars crash into one another, your check engine light comes on and you're refusing to pull over.... Yeah I'm staying off these roads
All of that is legal in Canada.
Now smartphones in 2025.
yeah with all those unsafe driving behaviour..they'd still die sooner or later from their own accord
Yeah, big F even getting to the logging truck moment, this whole scene was anxiety from the beginning. 😵
My check engine light is on sometimes, off sometimes. Its just car's mood. It doesn't have any issue though. 😂

Every shot of the road shows its wet from rain. Trucks take a long time to stop, double or triple in the rain!
My friend was a trucker and this is EXACTLY how he reacted
i think it might be because the whole crash happens quickly but it shows lots of different angles
Around my part the usual reasons were "brake failure" or some shyt, just truck drivers or their companies that don't give a damn about checking their trucks.
I love the subtle details they give like the bus of kids all yelling pileup, then a radio song that plays is highway to hell, then a little kid has two toy vehicles and hitting em together.
You don't know what subtle means.
@@qers I don’t really grasp the concept of certain words so yeah that may have not been subtle
There were like 5 separate "HEY YOU'RE IN DANGER" hints that the pileup gives, so death practically is trying to save them before the accident even occurs.

what makes this the most scary and infamous of all the final destinations is there really isnt anything overly crazy and its a possibility that all these chain of events can happen!
Compared to the funkytown video, this is like a comedy movie.
Well the cars exploding is a little crazy...
Generally speaking if people saw a 17 car pileup with massive explosions on the expressway they'd actually press the brakes instead of the gas pedal.
@@chips7844 I get what you are saying, but think about more as actually in this situation instead of watching it on youtube, the scene is split up slower to see everyone's reaction and individual disaster, but each individual is suppose to be in close quarters to each other, in a real accident people have literally half seconds to react to a big collisions, is it over the top yeah of course, but the most realistic compare to the other movies!
@@chips7844people panic and do stupid shit, also the pavement was kinda wet for a reason
It's impressive how most of this sequence is done practically, adds to the realism. The sequels after this became more and more creative and over the top but I think this premonition is the best for being grounded and realistic and that's the real horror.
Only ting that really detracts from it is all the cars filled with dynamite.
What i liked about the 2nd one was that you actually had a "happy end" for 2 of the characters. 3, 4 and 5 (it was actually the 1first one though) just killed the remaining survivors at the end of the movie. Here you have a clear cut for the 2.

No joke, that thing with the water bottle happened to me. Fortunately I was going slowly, backing up from my garage. I was lucky nothing serious happened but since then I decided to stop drinking in the car. Also, my driving instructor showed us this scene to show us the dangers of reckless driving
It's not that there's a problem with drinking in your car, it's people who carelessly throw trash on their floorboards. Back in the day older cars didn't really have partitions between the driver and passenger, everything was bench seating, so any garbage thrown on the floors would end up rolling around and there have been MANY documented cases of things like this happening.
Our neighbor in the 1990s had this happen too. It was a pretty bad accident, though no one died. The guy was an alcoholic and IIRC it was a beer/vodka bottlerollin around the car.

They do that in every Final Destination film, anytime when the actual deaths(not the vision) happen, whenever you see the wind just before the deaths happen, there’s always a skull that forms for a millisecond, it’s most noticeable in the first film, the shower death scene
And that kid in car, playing and colliding exactly same 2 toys.

Not really. There were many crazy and dangerous practical stunts and crashes filmed before this movie. The logs were CG when they were bouncing around on the highway, and that part was handled well for a digital effect.
I always find the "it was ahead of its time" kind of comments both funny and dumb, because they hide the false implication that the present is always better and it was a rarity to have "good stuff" in the past. No, this was not ahead of its time, it was a PRODUCT of its time - a time when movie studios didn't over-rely on CGI. Practical stunts like this were already being filmed DECADES prior to FD2 lmao

lol I just realised that they're not moving 😂
@@procraft1597 And you can see a camera crew towards the end of that cut on the right
@@zakball9127LMAOOOOO that’s so funnyn
One of the best Final Destination movies...
11:04 bro looking like 😳 damn this chick wasn’t lying 😂
hey at least he saved her life that makes him a true hero for saving Kimberly
It is a good day be driving in the opposite direction lmao
😂
Even tho these are pretty silly films, the stunts and gore are first class.
5:25 What an NPC driver sees last when I'm driving in Grand Theft Auto.
I love how trucks dont know how to stop in the final destination franchise
Out of everything in these movies, an air brake failure is one of the least unbelievable things to assume.
Loaded trucks need miles to stop.
THE ONE LAST REMAINING SURVIVOR WHO HAD VISION OF ALL FINAL DESTINATION FRANCHISE🔥❤️
Wonder how log truckers feels having all the cars staying away from them after this movie 😂
As a trucker myself I’m going to say they like it.
@@Flosseveryday I know right? Feels good to be respected
10:18 he cussed right in front of his mom 😂😂😂😂
People outside the bible belt do that all the time.
I see a logging truck, I zoom ahead or stay back until I don't see it anymore 🤭 🤣 😆
This is where exactly i got my fear on those big 4 wheeler trucks
find it hard to believe that no one talks about how to people on the bus in the beginning are saying "pile up".. fire foreshadowing
Another Easter Egg is that the bus is from the High School of the first movie.
that kid inside the car too 3:21
Nobody mentioning the dad referring himself "Hi it's Death" on the phone
Here to see "Drink responsibly" car. Seen that in 3rd and 5th parts of Fd😮
Hearing someone saying "Ozone layer" feels nostalgic
Why
Ah yes... The big ole scam conjured up in the 80s and 90s. Now we got global warming as the current scam. Wonder what the next scam will be, lmao.
@@user-vi4xy1jw7e It was a thing in like the 90s. Only Millennials remember.
I forgot how good this was.
My 9 year old brain was not ready for this scene randomly playing on my grandparents television set.
this scene and the plane scene will forever haunt me
the 2 best scene's in the entire series
Yes, these were the best opening kill scenes in the films. The rest were really stupid - especially that rollercoaster.
@@gojewlasorry but disagree…. the roller coaster is truly unique unlike a typical plane crash or a highway incident
Today I absolutely fear when the plane takes off.
Fairwheel one trauma me forever
i fkin love it how this scene, made a whole generation of people scared, or atleast wary about trucks carrying logs. amazing what the power of cinemae can do! also, i'm one of those ppl lmfao
Logging truck guys
*I haven't been tailgated in years! Thank you Final Destination!*
What gets me all the time is that Kimberly’s SUV still gets wrecked even though she parked on the merging ramp. That means the last truck driver literally veered right AND still kept going!
Plus if you look at 10:36, there’s no way that semi was only a split second away from hitting her. 😂
I dont get that stupid scene either
And here's something to ponder: why is there a stop light on an onramp?
@@KrazyIvan69 To limit the amount of cars entering a freeway especially if there’s heavy traffic.
@@sanlorenzo7896 Really? Wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpose of an onramp?
@@KrazyIvan69 According to Google, the purpose for these lights is to reduce the likelihood of crashes and bottlenecks when merging onto the freeway/highway.
Overall, it is an additional safety measure. Not all on-ramps will have them, but I imagine any major route would have one.
In Croatia I overtake such a log truck, then pulled over to the petrol station and when I joined the traffic it was totally jammed.
Couple of miles forward exactly what on this movie happened - logs got off the truck and went also on the opposite direction lanes - cars were piled on logs exactly like on this movie.
This was the first one in the series I ever saw....and I was terrified to leave my friends house after
