Im from New Zealand, in 1987 I travelled to Hawaii with my family, my first time out of the country. I grew up with American television from Sesame Street to Magnum P.I. The parents bought a new Honda Civic, and with the deal were tickets to Hawaii for the family. I was 13 years old which was a great age to experience the trip. It felt surreal and I was floating on a cloud the whole time. I was soaking up actually being in the tropical Americana environment that I had only seen on T.V in programs like Magnum P.I (which was in its last year of filming, I thought I may have seen the helicopter from the series, but it could have just been another one painted in that cool 1970s style, like the one from the series). I visited a beach outside of Honolulu, they sold big bags of popcorn on the beach along with snorkle gear so you can feed the tropical fish amongst the coral in the fish sanctuary. These big-ass fish would come right up and nibble out of your hand under water. When I was at that beach I had a surreal moment where I felt like I was in a coca-cola advert with the sun shining, the music, the beautiful people and environment, everything was Bright and Happy, even the fish were smiling.

I did a bit of investigation and it seems that it's a Sears that was located in Mountain View, California (probably like 20 mins where I live actually lol). Unfortunately, it got torn down and got a modern uplift with residential and commercial spaces.

I bought the tie for my high school graduation at a Sears. Copacabana was playing while I was in the dressing room. The Sears was demolished a few years later and they still haven't managed to put a different store at the end of that mall.
