Sunflowers are my favorite flowers for my garden to attract pollinators. This is the Peredovik sunflower variety. #sunflower #sunflowers #garden #gardening
We threw $20 of sunflower seeds onto an acre of poor soil. It stops traffic, irs so beautiful. Large leaves catch blowing dust. The roots have broken up the hard clay. Its been a great investment for the birds, no nore feeders.
Mountain Mint has so many pollinators on each plant it will blow your mind and the honeybee is one of the many species you’ll see. Perhaps not as attractive (although it is) it’s an incredible plant. You can make tea with the leaves as well.
I'm growing some for use as living ladders for squash, beans, peas, and peppers. I am also using corn similarly. They both love the sun and grow tall, providing shade. The pollinators and birds love them and they often come back again as well as spread seeds. You can also use their dried stalks as posts for one year and replace them with new ones each year.
Yeah true that. I love seeing all the “exotic” green and blue native bees that come out and pollinate sunflower as if it’s so irresistible. Instead of just the standard European honey bee and the native bumbles I see all the time. tiny wasps big wasps sometimes beetles and other insects. I’ve seen jumping spiders and other predator bugs waiting to try and catch a pollinator to eat.
My Italian oregano plant in a container are the bumble bee's *favorite* plant in my entire yard. They go absolutely nuts for it. Every time I cut oregano, I have to check to make sure I don't grab any of the bees. That's how many are on that plant! I try to be slow so as not to disturb them. The also love it when my thyme plant flowers in early summer.
I love sunflowers...bee balm is a great plant too, hummingbird and bees love them, but it's a bit invasive. Which i don't mind, and divide and transplant throughout my beds. I planted California giant sunflower seeds, sown directly into the soil. I look forward to them blooming and attracting more bees, butterflies and birds. I hope some of the seed will come up next spring. 🙏 😊
In my dry summer Mediterranean climate, the silverleaf sunflower is wonderful!!! It has fuzzy leaves to prevent water loss, and otherwise it looks quite a lot like yours
You should grow sunchokes there much harder to then normal sunflowers there Perenial they can be aggressive so grow dwarf Sunray isn’t as invasive also maxmillion sunflowers aren’t very aren’t either but are a different species.
I have chipmunks eating the seeds i plant in my fliwer beds. I find sunflowers growing in my fliwer pits because they are planting the bird seed black oil sunflowers.
I've been leaving this comment everywhere. What does one sexual preference or sexual identity have to do with the education of young minds. It actually has no value in the curriculum. Instead of saying Gray tabali give the age groups these are 12 year olds. These are kids this is grooming this is NOT acceptable.
Russian sage and Veronica are two perennial flower bushes that benefit pollinators just as much as sunflowers and don’t get me wrong half of my yard is dedicated to sunflowers but these are just a few perennial options.
This spring, I had a widespread sunflower surprise...or shock...I've planted sunflower seeds many times & gave up... Last August I began keeping chickens...Part of their daily treat mix has Blk Oil Sunflower seeds...1 month after spreading
This is the sun flower seeds I’ve been looking for, all I could find are the individual ones, or the short stumpy ones. I kept on searching for sunflowers that branches out, sunflower with more than one flower. Tq Tq I hope it’s not too late, by the way my cucumbers had shot up so fast this week, south West Wales UK. So excited, I see a tiny shape, will check tomorrow to see if it’s starts to flower. Aphids are back with vengeance, my strawberries one more time suffering. Is it alright to transfer/transplant my strawberry plants midway flowering fruiting, as it’s blocked by the fig tree leaves plus aphids attack. Can I uproot them now June and transfer them to another pot? I think I will do it. The fruits are so tiny, one ripens, I have never tasted a strawberry that sour ever in my life. I suspect it’s because of the conditions they’re in, plus too close together.

Sunflowers are full of money when comes to buy a peashooter or all😊

3 sisters: corn, which acts as stalks (like yours) for beans, and squash (I think as a ground cover)
For zombie attacks sometimes to be prepared

I love it! I grow my sunflowers & chipmunks always get to it! ...

Certainly in my top 3 or 4 favorites. I'm not growing any this year...but I have lots of Agastache in many areas, and they're covered with bees now.
I love growing sunflowers. Yours look amazing.-Liz 🌻👍🦩🌸🌴🌴👍
Beautiful! I'm growing Peredoviks also. I have one that is about 7 feet so far. Full maturity in a month, expected. I'm in west central Florida.
My Sunflowers are now 12 feet tall....western Arkansas.
Absolutely!!!!!!
Russian sage collects pollinators like crazy.
Beautiful

Makes sense In Arizona we have a small sunflower looking plant that grows on sides of roads I always wondered why it's leaves were silver
Cool you should hybridize your with jursuleum artichokes sunflowers to make a super hardy and heat tolerant sunflower would be a cool experiment.
Had these in Virginia. It’s only gorgeous for a short time, then it’s a big droopy weed that spreads all over the yard.
Fantastic! What do bees like with their sushi?
Wasa-bee!
But yes. I do ❤ sunflowers. I get a ton under my bird feeders
Technically each seed has its own flower, the yellow petals it see are modified bracts. So each head has thousands of flowers!
Those look great, birds ate about half my sunflower seeds, but I still have some monsters coming up
IT'S PRETTY!!!... BUT WILL IT AUTOMATICALLY COME BACK YEAR AFTER YEAR???💜🙋👍🌻🌻🌻🔥🙏👑➕📖🔥

We only have sunflowers with only 1 flower on the stem
I tried growing some (American giants, I think) from seed for my wife, and all I got was one little sprout that quickly died 😢
native sunflowers to your state would be amazing
lavender they pollinate 2months long

Get some cat or dog hair and place it around your seeds.
Idk man, in other climates I can think of flowers that attract way more beneficial insects/poillnators
How much pyrethrin do you put in a 1 quart bottle I'm using southern ag pyrethrin?
The concentration I use is 0.5 Tbsp/gal of that product. Since a quart is 1/4 of a gallon, you could use about half a teaspoon.
@@TheMillennialGardener ok thank you
Is it too late for this year?
No. I’ll be dropping more seeds in soon.
Bees measure the electrical activity of flowers and will avoid flowers that are electrically inactive.
Tulips. You can eat tulips. Look up your history

Fine, I agree but it’s not relevant here so let’s not trample on everything like the lib.tards do. Thanks.

I think Blue Fortune Anise Hyssop is way better! Pollinators of all kinds swarm it! Furthermore, it makes great tea!
Wait what you can have more heads on one plant! How?
Beautiful ❤️ I love sunflowers 🌻
I grow Tithonia the Torch.Hummers and Butterflies including bees Love it
Love those flowers!
Purrrrty

I planted some. Just waiting for them to flower🎉
