- In Part 1 of this free video tutorial series, Friend of the Blog - Producer/Mixer "Concrete Zebra" takes us through his basic approach to building a solid session template geared towards producing Hip-Hop & Trap In PreSonus Studio One
If you click the wrench underneath the I/O check the box and there you will find the trim knob. Then it will appear on the top of all the tracks. Or you can click the Inputs button and there you will find a trim knob also.
As an artist who is recently getting into producing his own music, this tutorial was extremely helpful, thanks a lot!
I am sending clients to these videos. Had a couple of clients that were interested in using Studio One to create some quick simple instrumentals for song writing. I am really busy these days, so these are helping them out.

To add to the battery bus for example, is easier to select the channels and with the right mouse button select the " add bus for the selected channels."

I feel you on the trim knob in cubase. That was always great. Nice tip with mixtool though. I prefer using clip gain on the regions themselves. You can access that per track in the inspector too. If you expand the inspector window downward, gain is right there. Adjusting that is the same as adjusting the clip gain on the region.
The benefit there it that setting is pre fader and you aren't wasting an insert slot. ;-)

When I make a VCA Bus it automatically populates to the far right and won't let me position it next to the drums or band. How can I fix this?

whats the difference here - putting all the faders directly on -7 db rather than using mixtool's gain at -7 db ?

Im stuck between buying a laptop, studio one and a midi controller or just buying an mpc live. I pretty much stick to sample based music. East coast shit. Any thoughts/opinions?
I know this is old but I was stuck on this same decision months ago. I chose to go the computer route because I figured it'd offer a broader selection of sounds and flexibility for pursuing multiple genres (hip hop beats but also film-score type music) *shrug*. I thought there'd be more VSTs and plugins. I thought it might box me in less too. But of course, the limits of a hardware tool can fuel creativity, which I know very well coming from things like Traxxpad and Korg DS.
So did you wind up going with the MPC or the computer?

i've used both. then i bought a mac. S1 preforms better on the mac than FL. i didn't like how fl looked or operated on my mac.
