      Nhra has always been against street racing, and this show in particular, they wanted to ban anyone including hoosier race tire that had anything to do with the show from nhra competition then goodyear tires was like “ you’re really gonna ban us” and they changed to banning just the drivers, then Alex Laughlin raced npk and nhra got real quiet about bans and you haven’t heard anything about them and street outlaws until this lawsuit, which I doubt nhra is anything more than what the family wishes the guy raced

      Pretty much what I said nobody forced him behind the wheel or down the road. In racing sometimes they get out the car sometimes they don't. Never like seeing anyone lose there life but at the end of the day we kno the risk. I ride motorcycles rather at track racing or just driving my daily I kno I could go down get hit and not get back up. I was recently clipped by a lady who was not paying attention and suffers severe injuries thought for sure my leg was gone. I got lucky and that's all it is luck.

      These races aren't illegal. They have permits to film a TV show and it's no different than closing off a street in town to make a movie.

      @@VultorI understand what you are saying. However this is street racing not track racing. That said the drivers walked the street before racing. He had already taken multiple drag runs down the road. It’s not as if it was his first pass on the road. He or his crew tuned the car for power level and when what levels of power came in at what point in the pass. He chose this. He was not forced to run. He and his team made a mis judgement on the tune and the crash was the outcome. I hate that it happened, but when you are basically trying to do near 200mph on the street in a distance of 660 feet from a dead stop shit can and does happen. NHRA is for track racing not street racing so the should completely stay the hell out of it all together. Everyone of them knew in advance what this show was about, and that the races would be held on public roadways not on a track. So as rude as it sounds his family should go cry in the mirror cause they should of asked him not to do the show if it was so unsafe. Would they have still sued if he had won the whole event over conditions? After all that should be the first question asked.

      One of the differences here is it's not really about the race. It's about filming a TV show. This road was a very bad road and they did not return to it.

    • @thecommodoredecker
      @thecommodoredecker Год назад +3

      Anyone saying the road was in poor shape and t.v. show and all that, you all know whats going to be said right? They all walked that road prior, because i know i would have and if it was that bad i wouldnt have run my 100k car down it to be destroyed and not insured. So they all walked that road and they all agreed to run it. And quite literally thats going to be it. Producers dont know shit about racing so its up to the drivers to pretty much say, no im not running down this shitty road, someones gonna die! Everyone knows the risk of racing on the street FOR REAL and that means no cameras. No medical standing by. No barricades to keep you on the road if you wreck. Now these guys have some of those comforts being a part of the show. Chief , dave, monza, kamikaze, shane, and im sure theres more im forgetting have had HORRIFIC wrecks on that show. And those were good roads that im sure they walked.They luckily walked away. But they didnt sue the show to rebuild their cars. They didnt sue the show for any medical bills related to the accident. Because im sure anyone who appears on that show has to sign something like a full disclosure agreement that protects the production from cases like this. The defense is gonna say the driver had the option to opt out, or at least say something about the road BEFOREHAND. If enough racers walked that road and said they werent gonna risk their cars on it, production wouldve found another one. So the whole thing is moot. I feel horrible someone lost their life. But they put being on TV and getting paid before anything else. if the road is as bad as everyone is saying it is NOW, because nobody said anything when it mattered and that was BEFORE any race went down it. Plain and simple. Thats the treatment id get, if i didnt OR DID walk a road and see it was bad and ride it anyway so i could be on t.v. and i dont see why because someone is on a t.v show should get different. And im not being rude or disrespectful, im just being real. Those are the facts and thats whats going to be said. Its sad but he strapped in and let go of the button. Every time you let go of that button you risk this. If you cant handle that then maybe you should stay out of the driver seat

    • @DiscoGreen
      @DiscoGreen Год назад

      They didn't return to it mostly out of respect imho. There's lots of historical precedence here. There is tech and I have seen Discovery on eng game not allow a car that didn't have a harness to run. I have seen racers' refuse to race at a NPK even because the road was unsafe. If there were many accidents and rolled cars as tmz implies during this season then Ryan continued to accept the risks and had opportunities to leave or stay and he stayed. It's up to the racers and teams to have fire prevention in fast cars too and for it to be functional. I do not know the specifics. But I'm sure discovery and their corporate lawyers had Ryan and every cast member sign detialed waivers for the risks. I don't blame the family for trying to sue as I'm sure they are being pressured by council and family and who knows there's likely some shared responsibility among the promoters and the racers too so I suspect this will quietly be settled way before it ever gets to court as it is not in discoveries or the sports best interest to have a public trial. I doubt whTever she gets a settlement for will hurt the company much and the changes that may come after just may save some lives too. I hate lawers I never sued anyone. I even had a wrecker cracked my vette and didn't even go through his insurance because it already had cracks. But if a little settlement helps them carry on I really don't see how that would change anything negatively for the show. Hope not. JJ ND chief / Shawn puts it best in the intros. Tonight's the night you could DiE. Dont do this shit at home it's freaking dangerous. 150 plus mph on a prepped surface can kill you just as quick. The drivers all know that.

Ryan knew what he was doing every STREET RACE HE WENT over several years also Has a multitude of hits on the road he was on racing on and off filmings He would be the last person doing this. Ryan also was set up well finically. His wife is jus greedy. She has to have $4000 concert tickets. And 30 dollar drinks on top of some of the San Diego restraunt buildings. Chekc her social media It’s embarrassing. And Ryan name and legacy is going to be tarnished after this. A couple days before the accident he had his blue mustang at the filming and it got loose spun and went off the road slightly. the car was known as Cookie Monster Frustrated He went back home to cali and got the FASTER lighter car and came right back to the same road 48 hours later to race like he has many other times. Truth is. Ryan when he launched was spinning out a control and could have easily lifted and all would have been well. As a street racing competitor Ryan didn’t want to lift got on and off the gas steering the car left and right trying to get it to settle straight and tried to win. That’s all that needs to be said. His street racing team he was apart of for a huge future race last year was was called. NO LIFT RACING Again nuff said. It’s sad this is what people will remember of Ryan Instead of jus being a good person who loves to street race and compete

    When you get behind the wheel, you know the risks of what can happen. No matter if the road was prepped or not. It's the streets, not a track. Even if they'd prepped, this is Vegas. The dirt blows back on the street in a matter of minutes. They call it street outlaws for a reason. It's not called track outlaws where everything is constantly prepped with extended downtime between races. If you can't deal with the consequences of racing on the street or track, then don't get behind the wheel.

    Any racer worth a damn always checks 2 things- their car & where their racing! He apparently thought it was safe! I'm sorry he's dead, but he gave off the impression of a rich guy buying cars to race for clout & tv instead of for the love of cars & racing! He looked like a total douche rolling up in that Hurican against all those beautiful American Muscle Cars! His family has no case, it's all just a money grab!

    Well you don't have to streetrace, keep it on the dragway insted. Then they can report to the police on every racer to get them to pay the company.
    Everyone who streetrace should get their drivers licence taken away for 5-10 years and the car scrapped. That would get more people to keep it on the tracks.

    The NHRA better stay out of it until they stop letting tracks all over the place be shut down. Also, all getting rid of the show would do would put them back doing real street races without Discovery closing roads and such.

    Ryan died doing what he loved. Everybody that straps in a car knows what they are risking. I could understand if it was his first pass down the road and if he had no idea what shape the road was in. But he made the choice to race and I honestly don't think he would blame the production crew. I also don't believe he would approve of what his family is doing

Also I'm sure discovery made him sign waivers some that his family probably didn't even know about stating that he knew the risks and if anything happened then they weren't responsible for his cars or life if lost..

    First the “Street” is not prepped like a track and is not set up as a track is. The street is what you get. Second they say it all the time. Street racing can get you killed. And everyone involved knows it. Third he would nit have been doing it if was not willing to take that risk. It seems they are just looking for a cash cow. And are trying to get it from something he enjoyed doing.

Sounds like he was a idiot to be honest.. people even check drag strips before running. So either he was a careless idiot after the money of his family is greedy and after money.. sounds like I'm gonna vote both being true

    Its awful he lost his life,but the waiver you sign even covers if you get in a fight with a driver and get beat up. I doubt she gets anything but a legal bill. The guy chris block from south Carolina that got his ass beat by the Memphis crew for calling jj a bitch, he tried to sue and couldn't cause he signed the waiver saying if you get hurt or injured in ANYWAY during the production they are not liable in anyway. That covered their ass on that.

    STREET RACING. Understand what that means. I used to race in Htown, Rankin and a few other spots. Run what you brung, no barriers, no preping, etc. Unfortunate that he crashed but to sue over these things, no way. These are street racers, not NHRA standard.

    Look, as a Drag Racer, not a Street Racer. I do not condone Street racing at all. On the track, it's controlled environment, medical on hand when things go wrong. On the street, more things can go wrong. Anyone that gets behind the wheel of a car, knows anything can go wrong regardless of condition, location, Street or s drag strip. Sorry for the loss of a person, but he knew the danger.
