I did this test too years ago. It was then I realized animals ARE smart. So i began paying close attention & verifying all manner of things they understand. I learned that all animals communicate with us & each other. You just gotta pay attention to learn their language. They are more like us than we know. Give them a chance you'll really gain their trust!❤

they really are. some more than others. the farm i use to work for had around 310cows in total (including calves). and out of those there where always 2-5 special cows that where extra friendly. while the other cows kind of feared you and moved away when you try to approach them. these 2-5 cows would just let you come and pet them. one of them was even in my morning routine. she would always come and stand as close to the entrance of the barn as possible and wait for me every morning. we also had a black and white calf that had a fully black head but on the nose and all the way up to the forehead she had a white spot that looked exactly like a question mark like the full ? bendy line on top and a dot under.
@@rampage3337I work at a farm since slmost two months with only 40 cows that are milked at the moment, a few "dry cows", young cows and a few more moms with calfs in the pasture and one calf in a barn. Never had a cow come for pets yet though but there is one who is always a bit weird according to the farmer and is a bit annoying during milking but I now never have any trouble with her anymore and she used to be one of the last to milk but now she is much earlier. When I first started and the farmer would still supervise a bit he commented how well that cow behaved with me, she usually is a bit anxious and therefore kicking a bit especially when you're with 2 in the milking barn because they aren't used to that. It is funny how I learn every cow their behaviour though they do have their own personalities. Some of them are really curious and like to watch you work but I never had them coming for pets but they do usually stay pretty calm when you pet them though. Most of them have horns still aswell which make them look alot cooler imo. I also worked at a milking sheep farm years ago and there we did have sheep standing still looking at you and wouldn't move until after you had petted them. Sheep are goofballs though and are alot more prone to get in trouble. I had a few times fishing one out of the water or releasing those that got stuck in the dumbest ways etc.
Yes, they do know their names. I grew up on a dairy farm and we had a pet cow named Lucky. She would come when called, loved affection and would let us ride her like a horse. She was such a sweet girl.
