I bought this bag awhile back based on your recommendation. I also have the LV 6 and I attached it per 5.11 instructions and I just keep it attached as an extra pocket all the time knowing that if I really needed to use it separately, I can take it off. I also have the LV 10 which is a great carry when I don’t need as much. One of my favorite 5.11 bags and about the best all around bag I have found without a tactical look. Thanks for your reviews!
6:10...That top Admin pouch would drive me crazy...reminds me of the Maxpedition Vulture II with a pouch on the top, and it won't allow a solid standing bag, when it is put down on ground. It would always fall over, or needed to be leaned up against something....It was that failure in the bag, that got me to buy the 511 Rush 24 replacement.
I love these bags. I have all of the LV series bags and, for their intended purpose, I love them all. The only real way to attach the LV6 to the LV18 is to mount it backwards. Or to run the clips on the LV6 up through the top duraflex buckle strap attachment. This takes much longer but give the perfect secured feeling as a dedicated front pouch. Other than that I’ve always loved this setup. It has become my bugout bag at this point using the LV6 as a full med bag with tourniquets, meds, and scissors. My edc is the LV10. Much more practical and lightweight edc with plenty of storage for things like my iPad, some snacks, and a smaller med pouch. Look forward to their next versions as well.
Have owned the LV18 and LV6 since March . LOVE THE BAG , but like you I feel there is a couple of issues that could be tweaked .... OVERALL , I gave up all my other carry stuff for this combo and I haven’t regretted it yet. The one thing I did about the LV6 carry on the LV18 bag was to use to small zip ties , they hold it in a excellent up and tight position allowing me access to the LV6’s openings.... if I need to separate , about 10-15 seconds and it’s free , cut ties with small set of Pmed scissors . Which travel with me through all TSA inspections....their blunt tip . I have not had any issues with my 40 oz Aluminum Water bottle falling out, I suppose if I turn my back up side down it would otherwise it’s traveled fine. I agree with the admin issue and wished they had put something on the underside of the shoulder straps just to give a Little Grippiness is as well.
1) The updated version of this bag does not have laser cut molle wall in the compartment with admin section. 2) Included Velcro strip in the CCW compartment does not have any elastic magazine bands….that’s unfortunate.
Thanks for this review. I am really digging the 72 Rush Pack. Do you think you could do a review of small lightweight sleeping bags and quilts too? Maybe you could do underquilts too? Something that you could put in a pack and is easy to carry. Thanks!
This is why I want to go into backpack production business, to look for all the flaws other manufacturers have and fix those, make The Perfect gear. Just you wait.
Just don’t fall into the trap of thinking there is one perfect bag out there just waiting to be discovered. That will drive you mad. People have different preferences and purposes, and changing a design to fix some perceived problem is likely to bring about a new (at least for some people). So it really comes down to understanding the trade offs you’re making - always keeping your target customer in mind. Every aspect, even if not perfect for everyone, should be purposeful. I wish you well if you pursue this!
@@sybo59 curious, do u have a top 3 or 5??.. Recwntly looked over Gamut again and i did overlook that bags functionality simply because of how it looked.. Im a boxed type look, like the ready pack or that london bag... But the 5.11 dart n vertx gamut looks really goo right about now.. Just my 2 cents.
This looks like a great pack. Over time I've come to the conclusion that you and I have very similar tastes in gear( especially knives!). Because of that I'm looking at getting a 5.11rush 24 for my truck bag, and this bag for my edc. My only hesitation is will it fit a guy my size ( 6'3" , 350, I know I'm TOO big). But I really want to get out and hike and do some woodscrafting to help lose some of that size but I need a pack that would work for me. Any feedback or ideas at all would help. I really enjoy your channel and wish you and your family all the blessings from God. Thank you for your time!!
Definitely looks promising, but I think I want to see this one in person before I buy. The admin organization in my Rush12 has become the standard on which all others are judged.
this or the Rush series? I'm thinking how much the Rush 12 can hold if pushed beyond the 24Litres stated? I did look at the Rush 24 but abit big for me
Excellent review as usual G. It does look ideal and after seeing lots of similar packs over the past few days Im delighted at all the features 5.11 puts in their products. Easy to take those pluses for granted. Thank you for this review. Happy subscriber here all these years. Be safe and happy dude!
Everything is great for me except for the straps. It not being yoke type makes me worry if the strap will strip from the top as it did to my other EDC bag coz I carry pretty heavy stuff
what does the centerline design mean? > Featuring 5.11’s signature CenterLine™ design, it’s huge on tactical versatility and everyday ease, with a steady, low-vis 30L profile.
Yep almost perfect backpack for me to have but 5.11 again failed with the placements of their compartments. If only the backzip was a dedicated laptop compartment and the next should've been the main compartment.
Nice bag. Extra pouch for lower portion shouldn't be for quick deployment for a weapon. Keeps people from trying to get into it as well should one carry a firearm in there while walking. I'm against off body carry. If you off body carry, quick deployment of a firearm is not going to happen, so having the straps secure that pouch isn't a bad idea or design flaw.
Hey Aaron, have you checked out the Vertx EDC Ready Pack 2.0? I'm thinking about getting it for my first higher-end EDC pack, and was just wondering if you had looked at it, or would look into doing a video review on it. I'm pretty sure you did a review on the original Ready Pack a while back, so just curious to see what you think of the changes they made for the 2.0 version.
Will go check this out at local 511 when Im on duty later, curious as to quality. Years and years ago, their quality was crap, ended up going with Tactical Tailor for stuff for myself and others in my dpt at the time.
I just got this bag and am sorry to say that I am underwhelmed. It is supposed to be 29L but is barely bigger than my 22L Kodiak Gearslinger. In addition, my 15" MacBook Pro does not fit in the laptop sleeve, and the key keeper seems very flimsy and cheaply made. Finally, I do not like that there are no side compression straps. If it had the compression straps I would probably overlook the other shortcomings.
How would this compare to the Gamut? I have been in the market for a EDC pack and it seems the Gamut 2.0 is more versatile. Any thoughts would be awesome. Both packs have good reviews. Thank you
Your all wet on that lower pack ,there is a dif way that it attaches it so you can open it easy and fast and doesn't deform the pack and rides high .there a vid that shows you how
Looks like a great pack, and I do like 5.11 stuff, but I'm not sure I'd prefer this pack over my Rush 24, I think the Rush 24 is perfect, which do you prefer ?
Lee Endley depends on your use. I had the rush 24 for a few months, but loading it up and bringing it on carry on it looked just a bit to boxy/tactical. I recently purchased the amp 24 and have been quite pleased! I would agree that rush 24 is a solid bag tho! 👍
Tactical gear emerged from a need to have practical access to a variety of tools which are used to solve a variety of problems which is sturdy and not gaudy. What defines tactical gear? Subdued colors, durable material, modularization and specialized pouches. That particular niche market happens to fill the rather large markets of those in duty service (military, law enforcement, fire fighter/EMT) jobs, those who are veterans of those jobs and the average Joe who likes to keep his shit organized and is driven by the buy once cry once approach to gear. Why does the gear look tactical? Because that is where the economy of scale meets the consumer demand.

In case you didn't know in the LV6 there's a hidden velcro dump pocket in between the main compartment and the back mesh pocket
Tie a loop of shock cord around the waterbottle strap. Then you can hook that around the top of the waterbottle, keeping it from falling out
The LV6 attachment option is the missing piece for the amp series.. a fast deployment side pouch for quick runs..

There is a better way yet that the LV6 attaches to the bag, with some little clips that come with it. These allow attachments without flopping at all.

I like this as a bugout bag doesnt scream tactical
I like the bag, but I would have preferred a bladder hanger, and also a pocket for a soft armor plate. I guess, I still put it in the tablet pocket.
Having this same thought but thought about undoing the stitching where the hard back is, removing the hard back and inserting it there
When will it be back in stock
