I am switching from a general business software to Aplos for my church. The accounting was done over many years by various volunteers with different levels of knowledge and understanding of fund accounting; the effort was to make the general business software work for us. Aplos absolutely clarifies it all! So simple & straightforward, great presentation. I knew I had to made many changes to our account structure, and with my knowledge of the financial activity of the church, my new chart of accounts is falling into place nicely. Thanks, Alex!!!
Very good video and information, thank you. I have a Question and I will really appreciate if you have the time to read it and give me some orientation. When you have funds left from one year to the next, you close the retained earnings account and transfer those funds to the next year. Are those funds entered as income for the new year? Or how do you register those carried over funds? Thank you very much for your time and help.
Nonprofit people. Does your accounting department track finances by grant or program? For example, grant 100 will pay for a vaccine program and a diabetic program. So in the P&L, is everything listed under 100 or by program with 100 grant as a line item for funding?
A specialized fund accounting software can make your life much easier than if you try to keep track of everything on your own. Try Aplos free for 15 days. aplos.us/nonprofit-software
I just started working for a non-profit. They have 11 different checking accounts and they only track one of them on the balance sheet in their main accounting system (MIP)! 3 other accounts each have their own qb desktop from 2018!🤦🏼♀️ I have my work cut out for me
