Thanks so much for sharing this Jamie! ❤️ I especially like the points about gut rest and avoiding too much stimulation. I find that fasting really helps me to regulate my mood and eating only twice a day and no snacking makes me more conscious about what I put in my body. That results in healthier gut, more seratonin and consistent rythm of my days. The rest from stimulation part is especially hard for my ADHD brain 🧠 but I'm developing some strategies like unplugging the TV in the morning while I still have a lot of willpower to make good decisions and then being too lazy in the evening to plug it back on 😂 then picking up a book or listening to a podcast for a more relaxing type of rest. It's all still work in progress but we can beat burnout! 💪
Yes! The gut is our second brain so it’s so important we take care of that too! Everyone - check out Karo’s channel - she has an incredibly video on burn out as well! Great to check out especially if you’re in the tech world too!
The production value of this video is absolutely insane, and the scripting is so good, thanks for making it :> The typing sound effect and other sound effects masks your narration a little bit though :)
Hello Wenjun and thank you for the comments! Really appreciate it and thanks for the feedback as well! I’ll definitely take note and reduce the volume of the sound effects for the future ☺️
I'm exactly at the start of my burn out stage. I try my best to rest in various ways as you did (e.g using my phone and playing games) but it doesn't help. I love the breakdown of the 7 rest which I should try to actively do more of while recognising the need for rest!
Jamie, I'm just curious - does this mean that working corporate jobs in the future are a non-starter mental health wise? I've been through burnout myself and had to completely switch careers. Keep up the great work!
Hey Claire! Glad to see you back in the comments ☺️ I guess it really depends on each individual, their experiences, priorities and what they want in life! Personally, I don’t think I’ll be going back to corporate jobs / companies whose values don’t align with mine. I’m so much happier now pursuing what my heart tells me to :) would absolutely love to hear your story too!!
@@Jamielimyinyin Agreed! My story is a tale as old as time....I'm someone with brains but is also highly empathetic and sensitive. Worked in tech, education, and nonprofits....found that environments that weren't supportive wreaked havoc on my mental health and caused extreme burnout and depression. Some were great fits and some were terrible! Often it came down to my boss or how much I could be my authentic self and connect with colleagues rather than the actual work. It's been a journey of about 15 years trying to figure this out. Oh, I currently work at a state university and it's a great fit :-). But of course, who know about the next job?
Thanks for sharing Claire! Great to Know that you’re somewhere happier. I think lots of folks brush aside their toxic environment until it’s too late (I guess we both did?!) but now we know better! Have you read the Pathless Path by Paul Millerd? I think you’d really enjoyed the read :)
Thanks so much for sharing this Jamie! ❤️

Burnt out and anxiety, finally a video that speaks my mind
I love how Chewie jumps onto your lap once you jump onto the sofa. The best stress ball 🥰
Yes!!! She’s so adorable 🥰 Pets really help melt your stress away too.. maybe I should have put that as a method to rest and Destress too 😂
@@Jamielimyinyin Haha yes! cuddles from pets are some of the best ways to destress 😌
Not sure if you somehow magically read my mind, but this video came at the perfect time. Thank you Jamie!
Thanks Bianca! Understanding the different types of rest really helped opened my eyes!

Thanks for sharing your method of overcoming burnout!
Thanks Ayumi for commenting! Which rest type do you think you need?
@@Jamielimyinyin After taking the quiz, it seems that I need Mental rest, Emotional Rest, Social Rest, Sensory Rest, and Creative Rest (T__T)
😭 take the time you need to rest up! Health is so important!

😭 please take care Cheryl! Maybe we should go for another coffee or just go for a walking catch up!!
@@Jamielimyinyin yes we should!!
