Astra Key-Reader removal

How to remove the transponder key-reader (immobiliser) from the Vauxhall Astra G, the key-reader will normaly need to be removed when the engine ECU requires testing or when the ECU kit is replaced.

Hi Roger I went to change the battery the put key in the ignition barrel it stater then I took the key out try the 2nd time it did not work at all I call the AA they said I have broke itthe key barrel, so the car went to the garage, I thought there would go to Vauxhall and replace the key barrel but there said you can not buy one you have to have to two keys now no choice.they open the Immobilizer change the reprogram the chip. They have use from a different car barrel and reprogram it has cost me £250, all there had to do was get a new barrel from the car dealer that all, new key barrel is £50 daylight robbery. Now just want keys like it was by remote what the best way can you help me please, by the have Fantastic Christmas and a Bringht New Year with your family your viewer and keep on makeing more video's.

TO GET IT BACK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH MUST REMAIN IN POSITION 2, then it just slides straight in - I had switched the ignition off then was trying to get it back in wrong Really really helpful video thanks guys

I have a question I've lost my key to my holden astra and the lock smith say's it's going to cost me 400 to get a new one... how would I be able to do that without a key? Do you have any ideas?

I ve forgot twice to push that thing inside down prior I ve replace the barrell and I had to change 2 ECU kits CAS of that.

Very tricky indeed to put it back in! I pushed the plug but my plug returns to the initial position, so I can't stick the bastard back. Maybe I need a whole new set???

Hi can I buy a second hand immobiliser unit with the key and plug it into my car and start it as my daughter lost my keys to my van

you also need the ecu! unless you have the tools to program your existing ecu to the new immobiliser.

Pretty good but I really wanted to know how and at what stage to remove the metal casing from around the transponder and connector. The Haynes manual implies that you can remove the transponder without removing the barrel but I can't see how.
